The value which is shown on the main page is the actual number of posts that we have currently. The difference in the post count and post # is that when we delete a post that value is not recycled and it goes directly to the next space. This is to make sure that no corruption in the database occurs.

The only problem with that is that the post # does not reflect the actual number of posts we have on SF. The value on the main page is something like (newest post # - number of deleted messages)
