I am telling you, Arya had a very IMPORTANT REASON to reject Eragon!!! She was involved in an affair, a LOVE affair!!! WITH Faolin the elf who was ferrying Saphira's egg!!! The young elf who was in a fairth in Arya's room along with King Evandar is FAOLIN!!!

I agree with the fact that Arya rejected Eragon because of Faolin. But Faolin is dead, she is probably grieving still grieving over him.

They dated for over 70 years, here's my evidence:

Seeing Arya was banished from her mother’s presence 70 years ago, therefore not being home for over 70 years, only on short visits. This could very well mean that the “fairth” of a male elf in her room (very likely to be Faolin) back in Ellesmera was created before she was banished. There she couldn’t have created the fairth and put it in her room if she hasn’t been back in over 70 years unless it was created beforehand. Not to mention it is the same with the fairth of the flower he created her.

1. The fact that she an elf and he's a human rider (even though eragon pretty much an elf)
2. The age difference (she hides a lot behind this)
3. She doesn't want to distract him from his duties as a rider (though i don't really think she is, i think she not really talking to him is making him think of her more!)
3. But apart from the Faolin thing i think the biggest reason is she scared to lose him. If she loves him and loses him she will have Faolin all over again. Imagine the hurt.

besides all the differences between them, i think Arya is facing another big question.

that special flower tree Faolin made for her before she left the elve land, it means their relationship had been lasting for at least 70 years. Faolin must be a very special elve even between elves, in order to attract a special woman like Arya.

and he just died not long ago, her memory about him were still fresh. then boom, Eragon walked into her life. a hatchling, inexperience, some times acting fool but extremely talented and having a pure heart.

the feeling which Arya thought had died after the death of Faolin awoke. That scared her, confused her and made her feel like a betrayal to Faolin and at the same time she knew she was hurting Eragon too. if i were in her situation, i'd hate myself for that.

If only that other elf Faolin hadn't died then there would be no chance of arya ending up with eragon which would be too obvious

I kind of agree, she made it quite clear to Eragon when she changed the subject quickly to Faolin's flower, and as they say with an Elf it's what's left unsaid that's more important, and she was hinting to Eragon about her feelings for Faolin.

there is a spell to ressurect someone, but the cost is so great it will take your life, so there is no way for her to get Faolin back.

It would turn arya into a shade i think. Anyway ary's secret is that she loves Faolin through and through.

I don't want Faolin to come back!!! Arya should end up with Eragon!!! I think she will be the next Rider, because then Saphira will be love with her green dragon and she and Eragon will be together. Perfect!

arya will not bring back faolin!!! but i do believe that she is in love with him; that is why she keeps rejecting eragon. actually, that and the reason oromis gave eragon.

yes but faolin already died... unless of course it is customary for the elves that once they have been with someone, they will stay with that someone forever, and not even death can part them away. oromis after all did say that elves are very loyal.
