when eragon fights murthag and tries to get in his mind, but before murthag blocked his mind eragon heared like houndreds of spirits screaming to be freed. so i think murthag opemed the vault of spirit and thats why he was so powerfull comparing to eragon that was transformed into a half elf half human. please say your opinion about this theory

hmm i just reread that part of the book and i dont think he opened it.. i think he got them from galbatorix because i think galby keeps getting stronger because he takes the souls of the people he kills.. so he gave murtagh some of them to start him off so he would be stronger then eragon. so murtagh didnt open the vault in my opinion

No, I dont think that he opened the vault of souls, he may have been stronger at the time being but remember Eragon was using magic for a long time and was very weak. But no I dont think that murtagh did because isnt Eragon the one who is supposed to do that?

It said that "his technicala skill was better than Vanir's and as godd as Eragon's" And after he got "transformed" he said that he would never be as weak against foes like Durza,Elves and other creatures of magic or something like that.

^^^^^Read my post above Death_to_Varden^^^^^ It actuallly said that he would no longer be powerless against foes like durza,elves etc. And eragonthought that if he was rested he could defeat murtagh, so, it means that even if murtagh was a shade, then Eragon still prolly could have defeated him.(probably)

yes but murtagh isnt a shade because in the book when oromis is talking to eragon about them eragon asked him if a shade could be a rider and oromis said that the dragon wouldnt let him ride on it.. at least i think i read that

Murtagh isn't part shade!!! It has something to do with the dark magic that Galbatorix has been using. We will learn how it works most likely when Eragon gets back to Ellesmera and asks about how Murtagh got so powerful.

He got it, I think, from Galby giving him powers through some way of him having lived so long and him being so powerful. Whatever Galby's been doing to keep himself powerful, Murtagh has been using it too I think.

I have a theory all of a sudden, when he opens the vault of souls the First Eragon dragonrider will come to him and give all his knowledge and power and then Eragon can kill Galby.

i don't think its posible cause elves have a very long life but they are not immortal

The First Eragon is already dead, you realize that don't you? And the Vault of Souls is something that has dead people's spirits in it so he'll get his power that way.

Elves are imortal unless they are badly injured or sickened.
Could it be that Murtagh was taking life from the people fighting not caring who he took it from and Eragon was so focused of him that he didn't notice. And thats why he was so strong?
Galby probobly would have had him pratice that a lot.

no they are not immortals...liek the dwarves,elfs live extremely long...not as long as the riders however who were immortal thru the ravages of time...however ne1 can be taken by murder or assasination of some sort

ok if murtagh took power from the vault...he would be using it up instead of letting galby have it...but then how is eragon sposed to open it if they keep using it...wont it be...dry?but it would have its advantages cuz whenever u kill sum1...u get their sstrength...so all of the casualties in the world of alagaesia wouhld give him power...hah that has a very odd irony to it...all the years ppl try to defy the king...they end up giving hhim power when they die
