The Varden <3 Unless it was /certain/ that Galby's intentions to bring back the dragon riders was true, then I'd side with Galby^^ But I doubt that's true, so I wouldn't.

It depends on what their true plans are. Like what if galby is actually planning with the riders, or what the varden are planning after they take out galby. But if I had to choose I would choose galby, because his plans are known better, and because you can't fully trust what the varden are gonna do after galby is defeated.

I'm not stupid or "obsessive" enough to join someone who is so undoubtedly evil (meaning Galby) unless, by some chance, his intentions were good. Which I'm pretty sure they aren't.

I would hellp Galbatorix. He seems like the kinda guy with all the power and plus I like going bad so yeah i would help him.

perhaps honestly it would depend on what the over all gaol of each side was and which would benifit me the most but for now i side with the Varden but if i could i would stay outside the battle like the Elves wanted to do.

Hmm, looking at it objectively: Galbatorix has run the kingdom for over a hundred years. There seem to be few wars within that time period, except for fighting off a terrorist group such as the Varden; perfectly understandable to the government in place. The nation is, for all appearances, very stable and not in a state of decay. Obviously, Galbatorix is doing something right.
He annihilated the Riders, true, but we have been told once before that they were already corrupt, and probably weak if all of their strength was overcome by a handful of riders. We have been told that Galbatorix has done many evil things, but how much of it have we actually witnessed firsthand? Galbatorix imposes taxes (what government doesn't?) apparently wants to defend his kingdom from a known hostile race (the Urgals), even Murtagh said that even though he didn't like Galbatorix, the system was sound.
And the war? Even "good", "morally upright" countries commit horrendous acts in war. Hiroshima, Abu Ghraib. Plenty of others.
Eragon has been continually swayed in favor of the Varden from the beginning, with no argument towards the other side. Since we are seeing this story entirely from the points of view of him and his allies, he is very biased.
If I were to choose with no prior knowledge of who is "right" and "wrong" and had no idea who would, inevitably, win, I would totally be behind Galbatorix.
And no, I'm not content to leave it at a simple "I'd side with Galbatorix! Evil rox!"

I would help Galbatorix, considering that most of the Empire live in peace and live normal lives, untouched by the King. It's only because of the Varden that the peace is ruptured. So, Galbatorix killed the dragons, and the old riders. In my opinion, he had every right to. From what I've read about the old riders they were lazy towards the end.

Do you WANT us all to join together and kill you? Go read Eragon's reason why he's fighting galby in Eldest, then come back. Galby's killed lots of people, and dragon's. so the old order had fallen into dissrepair. he could have helped them regain thier strength and glory, if that's the reason they were destroyed. and the wild dragon's had done nothing to deserve death. and, By killing the dragon's, he has greatly hurt both the human and elven populations, because they're tied to the dragon's.

He didn't have good reason's for doing these things; he's mad. He is insane, and just wanted revenge. So despite that most of the Empire is peaceful, if over-taxed, Galby and his Empire have done terrible things, and would have to be stopped.

What about the fact that no king should rule for that long.
----how would you feel if the president,king,ruler you hate the most cant die and will live forever with his rule constanly there. He gives you no help when you dont make enough monney for food and when you are around 18 you get sent off to go work in the army that gets its comands from the person who killed part of your family, let you starve, and then taxes you with unreasonble taxes so that he can kill some more people!
What about the fact that so manny people oppose him you might want to think that there was a reason people hate him... like the elves, dwarfs, Varden, people in the empire, entire villages, Surda. You do remember that all the people in the varden are refuges from the empire who must have hated his reign enough to flee!

Indeed because winner writes the history . And since Empire seems to have unlimitede number of fanatized soldiers we can't tell who will be victorious in the end )

Personaly I like to be neutral and so would I be in world of Eragon unless something bad happend to me (no matter from which side harm came, they shouldnt mess with me ).

Im not sure, prob galby. but whoever has the most to offer. and whoever is less afraid of telling me what they are going. an probably which ever one i will have to secure my self less too. cause of course the map only shows like... possibly a tenth of what the entire map could be. and so i would really like to go adventuring and see what is beyond the map.

It is kinda hard to say. I mean, Galbatorix in the eyes of the Varden is the bad guy but since he is so isolated from the general society you never know exactly what is going through his head. Sometimes the villain sees himself or herself as the hero or good guy.

you'd be dead before you even get in. He's probably got Wyrds, enchantments, and traps all over the castle grounds and within.

I'll use for cover the job of a waiter or something like that till I get to him personnaly. Also, I'm a decent spellcaster, so I can mask my thoughs for a while.

I don't like the Empire- but like Murtagh- and I am not on the Vardens side. As The Librarian said, Eragon and Shaphira are better of with he elves, but not the dwarves - they just mine.

Well i would not side with anyone i hate war nothing good comes from it, besides if dragon hatches for me no way i will let that he/she is rised to be soldier for either side and i will make sure that he/she has nice childhood and not to be sorounded by death and misery.
