Anir flew slowly through the desert air, her expression somewhat sad. She had been forced to leave her brother behind in Du Weldenvarden for training from their father, Zeke Blindscale. She felt lonely without her younger brother beside her, waiting patiently for him to guide her. She sighed. Her wings were tired now, now that she thought of it. She sighed once again and pulled them in to land. A small desert town was a bit ahead of her. She landed on the hot sands and padded forward briskly; the ground was scorching on her paws. The white-silver-pale-blue dragoness yawned, content from the warm sun rays soaking into her scales.

A few minutes later she had reached the outer wall of the town. She hesitated, wondering if she would be welcome, then decided what was the worst that could happen, and walked on forward. She was hit hard with the pungent scent of sweat and occasionally blood, but otherwise it seemed rather clean, to her surprise. And then a peculiar smell crossed her nose. It seemed almost familiar to her, but then again not. She tilted her head and followed it.

Anir was surprised to find that the scent trail led to a human male. He was certainly an odd looking human. She'd never seen such yellow eyes before. She looked him up and down carefully. He didn't look like he had any draconic blood in him, and yet....his scent was part draconic. Not very strong, perhaps a dragon that had shifted to a twoleg form? Her Aunt Jia could do that. She tilted her head at him, then padded over until she walked beside him as if she belonged there. What are you doing in a town like this, Skulblaka Vinr (Dragon Friend)? she asked curiously unable to help herself. That was her; the trouble maker of her siblings, and the nosiest of all four of them combined.

Vermona closed her midnight black eyes. She needed to feed, soon, but the closest place she could go was a nearby human town. She didn't want to feed on humans, she didn't....But her thirst was compelling her to. After a few more minutes of internal struggle she opened her eyes and flashed into a hard sprint toward the town. She was there in under a minute. But still her better nature fought the urge to just pounce, bite, and kill.

Anir watched, her eyes widening, as the human-dragon dealt with the vampire. She pounced forward after he'd thrown her into the wall. Wait! She's a vampire, and right now she's insane with blood-thirst! She doesn't know what she's doing, I doubt she evens knows this is happening. she called, though she doubted it would do anything to stop him.

Vermona felt a shudder go down her spine with pleasure as she managed to get two gulps of warm, salty-sweet blood down her throat. It felt so good; it relieved the hellish burn that scorched her veins with need. And yet she wanted more. But her prey tore her away from him and tossed her through a wall. She broke through and out the other side, landing, somehow, on her feet in a predatory crouch. She snarled at him, her black eyes glittering with insane need, fangs glistening crimson and dripping the clear liquid.

Bahamut remained where he was. He felt it would be better to let her do all the moving and all the energy wasting. At the same time he was becoming impatient. This had to end soon because he needed to find his Eldunari.

Short...

Vermona halted and lowered deeper into her crouch, her lips quivering around her fangs. Blood rage still clouded her vision, but something got through to her. This human was able to fight back. It was the rare situation when a mortal had any chance to defend themselves. Their sight was so bad at night, when vampires usually hunted, that they had little chances of even seeing their attacker before they were bitten and drunk from until they died of blood loss. This one was different. He did not even seem to fear her, did not flinch from the sight of her fangs or the liquid that slowly dripped from them. And yet this one had thwarted her attack more than once. Her pupils narrowed. A challenge. Her lips spread wide apart in a predatory smile. She enjoyed challenges. She sprang forward and lashed out with her foot toward the side of his knee with just enough for him to go down, at the same time slashing one hand horizontally toward his throat and punching him hard in the stomach with the other.

It seems the creature did what Bahamut had predicted. It turned its attention away from him and went after the dragon. "Look out!", he yelled.
Short/pass.

Anir whirled around at the human-dragon's warning just in time to see a flash of teeth before fangs as sharp as razors cut through her scales. She snarled and lifted a paw to swat the vampire away. She crouched to spring onto the creature, but she was abruptly shoved to the side. She looked up to see yet another vampire running toward the first. She shook her head in amazement. She who had never seen a supernatural creature in her short life had now seen two in a day.

Vermona snarled with rage as she was pushed away from the dragon. She didn't have time to crouch and spring before something slammed into her, knocking her flat on her back and pinning her arms above her head. She snarled again and snapped her teeth, glowering at the green-gold eyes that stared at her. Lips peeled back from teeth and fangs and snarled in return. She went still, her lips quivering. The male vampire - she knew it was a vampire from his pale white skin that glistened faintly in the light and glittered like diamonds where it was hit with the sun - lowered his lips,"Mona, calm down. I'll get you some animal blood soon, but I need you to hang on for one more day. Do you think you can do that?" he whispered, his nose almost touching hers. She remembered his voice, barely, but she did. Allen. Her mate. She stopped fighting him and started fighting her urges, closing her eyes so she could concentrate more. Though the blood of the dragon and the human weren't helping. Allen picked it up.

Allen looked up at the human and dragon, his green-flecked-with-gold eyes flicking from one to the other,"Either leave or heal yourselves. Mona can't have the scent of fresh blood around when she's trying to pull it together." he said quietly. The dragon nodded and motioned to the human, then padded toward the hole in the outer wall of the town. He looked back down at his mate, noting that her fangs were shorter and her breaths not as shallow.

Allen glanced up at the human when he didn't move away but otherwise didn't react. He looked at Vermona when she opened her eyes, and was relieved to see that they no longer looked blood thirsty. They were still dangerously dark, an almost midnight ruby red, but they were clear and sane,"You can let me up now, Ally." she murmured to him. He hesitated, then slowly released her wrists and got to his feet. He helped her stand. She stayed close to him, but she was in control again. Allen glanced sharply at the dragoness as he smelled blood on her. Her trilled to Mona for her to hold her breath, then walked over to the dragon. She flinched but didn't move away when he stopped beside her and bent over the wound. He flicked his tongue over the bite mark, sealing it shut with the venom in his saliva. He stood once the blood was gone and walked back to his mate,"Consider yourselves lucky; you managed to last more than five seconds against a blood raged vampire. I would recommend you leave the town, or at least try to avoid us." he said. He motioned for Mona to follow him - she needed blood, preferably animal blood, and she needed it yesterday - but she seemed reluctant to follow.

Allen stopped in his tracks. He didn't even turn around, not right away at least. He looked over his shoulder. The one eye that was visible was blazing,"I don't have much of a temper. But when you threaten my mate is when you forfeit your life." he snarled, turning. Mona tried to get past him, be he held her back. He was not thirsty, she was, which meant he was stronger and more concentrated than she. He wouldn't let her be hurt,"Vampires don't forgive the death of their mate quickly, if at all. If you touch one strand of her hair or threaten her in any way, I will snap your neck so fast you'll be able to see behind you before you die." he growled. Again Mona tried to come around and stand in front of him; again he blocked her. He heard her hiss softly in defiance, and then a whimper of apprehension as the fire blazed. He turned and held her in his arms, comforting her, but his eyes never left the human, who was clearly not completely what he seemed to be, at least by full human standards,"She couldn't control herself. Haven't you ever been so enraged or hurt that you struck out at anything, or anyone, nearby? That is what our thirst is to us. We are a slave to it." he said quietly.

Allen's lips peeled back and his eyes turned savage,"If you finish what she had no control over starting, I will hunt you down to the ends of the earth and kill you." he snapped. His muscles tightened as he got ready to spring. A hand on the bare skin of his arm made him start. Instantly, against his will, his emotions began to calm and become more genial. He tried to shake her away, but her grip held. He looked up and met her eyes, a dark midnight red, and then nodded. He stepped aside to let her pass.

Vermona stopped four feet away from the human, her midnight red eyes wary and cautious. She held her breath so his scent wouldn't affect her as badly,"All I can do is apologize for attacking you. Thirsty or not, it was inexcusable." she said quietly, not meeting his eyes respectfully. "Thirst defines vampires, no matter how much we might try to escape it. Even right now when I'm holding my breath and I'm not exceptionally close to you, my predatory instincts are telling me to spring and bite. I will apologize for attacking, but I can't and won't apologize for what I am." she said firmly, her jaw firm. She heard Allen shifting uneasily behind her and trilled to him soothingly in their tongue, the Vampiric Language, her tone too low for the human to hear, or even the dragon (at least easily).

IC:
Vermona couldn't help the satisfied smile that crossed her face at the human's question,"Yes, very. More than I have been in a while." she said. She tilted her head curiously, and her expression became sheepish,"May I know your name? I've already taken more than is excusable from you, so to speak, but I can't help but ask. You are not like other humans." she said quietly, and then looked away, afraid that she might have said too much.

Bahamut couldnt help but smirk slightly. "Well that is because Im not actually human. If you really must know, my name is Bahamut."

Vermona raised an eyebrow at Bahamut's comment, and then her eyes sharpened. Of course. She had drank the blood of Jia, a young dragon, once, a long time ago, at least by mortal standards. She smirked as well,"Hmph. Well, I thought your blood tasted too sweet for the average human. Part dragon are you, or perhaps a shape-changer like Jia?" she murmured, more to herself than him. She should have known right off because of her eyes. When she drank from animals they turned golden-amber. For pure humans they became a sharp red crimson. For dragons they went emerald green.

"Bahamut, I'm as human looking as a monster can get, and mortals still shy away from my instinctively." she muttered, more to herself than the others. She crossed her arms over her chest, raising one eyebrow,"Alright your searching for something. You don't need to tell me exactly what it is, but I would like to help you look for it. It's the least I could do, I suppose." she said, and beckoned Allen forward a bit too. The dragoness padded forward as well. Mona glanced at the silver-white-blue and smiled,"I'm sorry, I never got your name, my dear." she said warmly. The dragoness smiled, her vivid silver eyes glittering. My name is Sofranir, but friends and family just call me Anir. she said.

Vermona glanced at Bahamut but said nothing. True that she might, but she wanted to find something scarier than her that would put fear into her. Mortals instinctively shied away from her, their unconscious minds telling them that she was dangerous and could kill them while at the same time not actually allowing them to acknowledge what she was, except for in their darkest nightmares. She raised an eyebrow at Bahamut, waiting for his move. It was his search, she would follow his lead, and perhaps his orders, though only if he truly meant them or they were in danger.

Anir's eyes narrowed at Bahamut. Don't you even dare think about leaving me behind! Even if you do I'll just follow. she snapped, her vivid silver irises flashing with defiance. The vampire chuckled and she glowered at her.

"It would be easier if fly. However Ill need to get futher away from the town before I change back. Wouldnt want to start a panic now would we?"
