Lakris and Sylverta
OOC: This is my last or next to last character for a while, so I hope he’s all right, because I made him all out. :D
Name: His old name was Jisa, but now he goes by Lakris.
Age: 181
Skills:
'Chain' Magic: This is Lakris's primary magical ability. He extends grappling hooks made out of energy out of his hands, and grabs onto an enemy or object. He can then swings around that enemy or object, or extend an elemental attack down the chains, which could assault the enemy.
Lakris can morph magic into forms, like he can produce shields of energy, or beams of energy, but it uses energy in the first place, and then uses more to morph the magic essence into a different form.
Amaterasu Magic: Magic of the Black Sun. There are two different forms of this sort of magic. The first form is used primarily in offense and defense, and are referred to as Amaterasu Formulas. There are a hundred formulas in all, and the higher the number of the formula, the stronger the spell and the more energy it uses. The second form of this type of magic is called Amaterasu State. Amaterasu States are used as Support magic, and there are eight of them total, although Lakris only knows the first five.
Lakris has a fascination with electricity and wind, and is very skilled with both elements. He can control the wind currents, enabling him to fly through the air. He can move around freely in the air, but he lacks the speed and dexterity of a dragon. He can create small tornadoes around him and he can bend wind currents to increase his speed. He can create lightning sparks around him, preventing anyone from touching him unless they strike through the lightning, which zaps them with a powerful shock that is lethal as storms, although this uses quite a large amount of energy. He is quite skilled with a sword, but he detests swords. However, he still keeps one in case he needs to use it. His love lies with magic, and he is always looking for more ways to grow more powerful in magic.
Race: Shade
Hair: Spiky, dark red hair that falls around his eyes.
Eyes: Yellow
Home Village: Yazuac, but he left it behind long before the villagers inside of it were slaughtered, and has been traveling from village to village, city to city ever since.
Parents: His mother’s name was Dana, and his father’s name was Duvadr. Lakris left them behind in Yazuac, but they were human, so they died before the slaughter.
Siblings: He had three sisters, named Lilly, Suvana, and Illia, but they are also dead, as they were humans.
Character Personality: Calm and composed. He is a very good strategist, and he remains calm in even the most dire situations. He has yet to ‘lost his cool’, but he does display some emotion. He likes magic, lightning, and wind. Some say he has the knowledge and wisdom of a dragon, and others say he is insane and vile. He is philosophical, and only looks at labels like ‘good’ and ‘evil’ as useless manifestations that give biased mis-judgments. He will do whatever he has to do to get what he wants. He doesn’t mind crowds, but he has a dislike for the general human attitude, and thinks of them as arrogant and misguided. He has no place in the war, but he has an interest in the empire and Galbatorix, and has thought about joining him many times. He loves his dragon, however, and they share the same views on the world. He is quite patient. He isn’t as patient as Sylverta, but he too could make a plan that could last decades. Lakris likes to remain in mental contact with Sylverta, but he heads into cities and villages alone in order to keep Sylverta a secret. He wishes to keep his identity as a Rider hidden. If he does this, then not only will it keep attention off of him, but it also usually causes enemy riders to underestimate him in battle. However, if the opponent poses enough a threat, Sylverta will appear, whether Lakris wills it or not. As a last resort, Lakris will use his Amaterasu Formula 100 on the enemy. It’s a last resort because of the mass amount of energy it uses. It doesn’t require Lakris to use his ring, but it drains him of nearly all of his energy, and he can’t move for a few minutes after he uses it, so Sylverta’s presence is crucial if he uses it.
Character History: Lakris left his old past and name behind for a reason. When he lived with his parents and sisters in Yazuac, he had hated his life. He loved his sisters, and he protected them, but his parents were strict and cruel beyond imagining. His dad had always forced Lakris to do everything, and even when Lakris had done his duties perfectly, his father would just get drunk, come home, and beat Lakris. Lakris had protected his sisters from their father, and had always succeeded. His mother was no better, but in a different way. She knew of what his father did, and she agreed with Lakris’s father’s actions, and always stood by his side. At 19 years old, Lakris had grown tired of it, and left their village. He wanted to bring his sisters, but they said they would rather stay in a house than travel aimlessly and poorly around Alagaesia. Alone, and with no money, Lakris had lived a hard life. He had constantly stolen from people, and he had even killed people. He had lived this poor lifestyle for seven and a half years, until he had fallen in a desert, starving. He eventually got up and wandered the desert for two more hours, and had run into a spirit. Only one spirit, but it was very powerful. It attacked Lakris, and weak from hunger, he stood no chance against the spirit, and was taken over. He had become a Shade. However, Lakris doesn’t object to the spirit’s takeover, and he is always watching, observing the spirit’s moves, and occasionally doing something of his own. He didn’t object to becoming a shade because it gave him power. Forty years later, after achieving a great deal of power, Lakris had come across a hard, unidentifiable, red stone. He took it back to the city, but the answers the citizens there gave him varied and were ridiculous. A stranger had confronted him several hours later, and had brought Lakris to a remote location. There, the stranger had identified himself as Ragin, a used-to-be dragon rider, and he had educated Lakris in the history of dragon riders. Once the egg hatched, Lakris had named the male dragon Sylverta, and Ragin said he would train Lakris and Sylverta.
The training had gone well for thirty-four years. Ragin had taught Lakris powerful magical skills and trained him in swordsmanship. Lakris had developed his likes and dislikes of power by then, so he disliked using a sword. Ragin had trained Lakris and Sylverta in rider-dragon fighting techniques, and thus, those thirty-four years had passed. Lakris and Sylverta had talked, and realized some things: Ragin was the only one who knew about Sylverta, Ragin was going to die soon, and in order to be discreet and keep Sylverta’s presence hidden, no one next to Lakris could know about him, so, that following night, Lakris had killed Ragin. Ever since then, Lakris and Sylverta have grown more powerful, and while Sylverta hid in the sky, Lakris would get supplies in cities, and learn as much information as he could.
Weapons: Lakris has a red hilt at his side that he uses wind with to form a blade. He uses his sword as rarely as he can because he dislikes swords. He relies on magic most of the time.
Likes: Lakris likes magic, his dragon, power, and flying peacefully through the air.
Dislikes: Lakris dislikes the general human attitude, being separated from Sylverta, and any reminders of his human past.
Fears/Weaknesses: Lakris isn’t a fan of using a sword, so he uses it rarely, so even though he was skilled with it, some of that skill has diminished completely.
Animal Companion: His dragon
Physical Appearance: Lakris stands at 6’3, and is thin. His body is toned, but not noticeably muscular. He has dark red spiky hair that falls around his eyes, and he has a scar going down his right eye. He got the scar from fighting a Fanghur when he was young. Even after over a hundred years, the scar still hasn’t disappeared. Lakris has a white cloak with black trimmings with a black collar. He has black shorts, and sandals on.
Dreams for the Future: To end the war and possibly join Galbatorix. He also wishes to eliminate manifestations like good and evil. He wants people to be judged by people they know, not someone who judges them misguidedly because they are good or evil.
Reasons for Dreams: The only side in the war he will join is Galbatorix’s, and he is tired of this seemingly endless war. He hates when people judge someone because of what they have heard about that person, and that they don’t actually know that person.
Alignment/Side: He’s on his own side, but he’s thinking about joining Galbatorix.
Dragon’s Name: Sylverta
Age: 81
Gender: Male
Parents: He doesn’t know his parents, but he assumes that they died in the Fall.
History: Sylverta had known that Lakris was a Shade right when they came into contact, but he didn’t care. Lakris was the rider he had been waiting for his entire life, and being a Shade couldn’t come inbetween that. Very shortly after he hatched, he had gone into training with Lakris with an old man named Ragin. The training had gone well for thirty-four years, but Sylverta had thought of a problem and voiced it to Lakris. Sylverta had said, “Aren’t both the Varden and the Empire looking for dragon riders? I’m not saying that either would be bad to join, but I would rather join willingly and of my own judgment, not biased lies given by either side about the other.” Lakris had agreed, and they had decided to cover their tracks, “…and since Ragin is the only one who knows about us, I’d say the answer is quite simple.” Sylverta had said. Thus, they had killed Ragin that night, and fled the village. Ever since then, they have been pursuing power and learning whatever they could about Galbatorix and the Varden.
Personality: Sylverta shares Lakris’s dislike for humans, and they share a lot in common. Like Lakris, Sylverta is also philosophical. Like most, if not all dragons, Sylverta has ancient wisdom and has been wise since he was a few weeks old. Sylverta knows how to remain calm in a dangerous situation, and therefore his decisions and suggestions aren’t affected by pressure. Sylverta is also very patient. He is good at strategy, so he’ll wait as long as he needs to in order to carry out a plan. However, unlike most dragons, Sylverta doesn’t mind staying in the sky while Lakris heads into a city alone. Sylverta trusts Lakris, and isn’t afraid of what Lakris can get himself into, because he always gets himself out. In a fight, Lakris usually fights the enemy alone, while Sylverta remains in the sky. This is because Lakris keeps his identity as a dragon rider hidden, and if anyone finds out, he will extract the memory from their mind, but if the opponent is strong, then Lakris ends their life. If their opponent is strong enough to withstand Lakris’s attacks, then Sylverta will reveal himself and they will deal with the enemy together. If even together, Lakris and Sylverta cannot beat the enemy, then Lakris uses his Amaterasu 100 Formula. After he would use it, Sylverta would protect Lakris, as the spell uses a huge amount of Lakris’s energy, and he doesn’t wish to use the energy from his ring, so Sylverta protects Lakris for the couple of minutes that he’s immobile.
Color: Red
Physical Appearance: Sylverta is an averagely built dragon. He doesn’t rely too much on strength, and he doesn’t rely too much on speed. He uses both in a balanced way that best suits his physical ability. The small horns along Sylverta’s spine are yellow, but the rest of his body is red, except for his eyes, which are brown.
Dreams: Sylverta, like Lakris, wishes to end the war, and end the need for manifestations like ‘good’ or ‘evil’.
Reasons for Dreams: Sylverta believes that war is only built on hatred and that if people just understood each other, than there wouldn’t be a need for war.
Alignment/Side: Sylverta is neutral, but he pities Galbatorix.
