Ahh.. I'm fine, life's okay.. nothing change much, but I enjoy it ^^

It's my last semester in my study, by schedule I'll be graduate by February next year... but now I'm pretty free, the schedule is not as tight as last semester and I have more time to fool around. Recently, I'm occupied with a new hobby.. I'm a Japanese drama freak!! I watched them almost ALL the time!!

I still haven't read Brisingr, btw... I skimmed through the pdf version, but the phrases and vocabs are on advance level,, I need a dictionary every now and then!! Lol.. I think I need to wait for the translated version... which is still a LONG time from now to wait for... hmm.

Evidence Based Practice-Case Study

Each student will present a case study of a client. The case study topic should be a similar topic covered in class. It is best if you use a real patient you have cared for in the clinical setting. The case study will include a typewritten paper as well as a power point presentation.

The paper should be at least but no longer than 5 pages (excluding title page and references). The presentation should be approximately 15 minutes long.

The case study is worth a total of 15 points, which is part of your theory grade (paper 10 points and presentation 5 points). The clinical instructors will be grading the papers and presentations.

Students must email (as an attachment) an outline of their case study to the instructor (2 weeks prior to the presentation or at the discretion of the instructor). Include your question of interest. Your clinical instructor will email you back with comments or suggestions.

GUIDELINES FOR CONTENT AND ORGANIZATION OF PAPER (10 points)

I. Title page (1 point)

d. Page header: brief title of document
II. Body of paper (2 points) approximately 1 – 2 pages
a. Background of Diagnosis
1. Client’s diagnosis:
Ex: Atrial Fib

2. Incidence & Prevalence of Disease
What is the incidence and prevalence of the disease?

3. Pathophysiology:
Give a brief description of Atrial Fib
Use chart, graphics or picture

4. Labs & Diagnostics:
CBC, Chest X-Ray, Echo

5. Treatment:
IV Heparin, Calcium channel blockers, ? Cardioversion

6. Assessment:
What S/S does the client exhibit?

7. Nursing Diagnosis:
List 2 NANDA’s (must be higher level NANDA’s)

8. Expected Outcomes:
List 2 Expected Outcomes

9. Interventions:
List 2 interventions

10. Patient Education:
What type of patient education would you include?

III. Evidence Based Practice (4 points) approximately 2-4 pages

1. State your question of interest using PICO
Ex. In a patient with atrial fibrillation, is rhythm control best achieved through drug therapy or nodal ablation?

2. What does the current literature say about atrial fib and rhythm control (treatment, patient education or outcomes)?

3. Validity of results? Be cognizant of these results but not necessary to include them.

4. Based on the evidence what is your conclusion?

5. How will this information impact your nursing practice?
What will you do differently?
How would you implement this change on your unit?

6. Conclusion paragraph

IV. References (1 point)

3 references, 1 must be from an internet source (not Web MD) they must be from a peer-reviewed journal.
Student must use APA format

PRESENTATION (5 Points)

 You will present a brief overview of your case study. No more than 15 minutes including 3 – 5 minutes for questions and answers.

 Using power point, create a presentation for your clinical group. This will make a good review before the final.

 Your presentation should briefly describe your case study making sure to elaborate on evidence based practice and the impact on your nursing practice.

 Students will open file from either their flash drive or floppy drive

 Students will copy their file to the hard drive under their own names

 After the presentation students will delete their file

 Should include approximately 7 to 10 slides:

o Title of presentation
o Brief description of the clients disease with pathophysiology, incidence and prevalence and current treatment
o 2 NANDA’s with outcomes & interventions
o State question and cite current literature
o Conclusion
o Impact on practice and implementation at your workplace

Oh yes I remember...

The low quality of movie based video games.
These days, almost every movie that has any kind of action has a video game made out of it. Take any movie that has action in it and i would garentee that it has a video game for it, and i would amost garentee that its a really bad game. It seems that video game makers either can't understand that the things that happen in a movie areen't meant to become interactive, or they don't care how bad they make the game, they just want people who thought the movie was good to buy the game, and I'm sick of it. The amount of these games that are just atroucios is dispicible. Video game makers need to either stop making these games, or find ways to change cinima action into quality action that wont stink.

Some may say to me: what about Star Wars, LOTR, or James bond game? well these are different stories. Star wars games: since most of these movies came out before video gaming (except for I,II, and III which were bad games), most of the star wars games are not based soley off the movies. instead they take the world of star wars, and create fresh ideas that are for video games and video games alone. I praise Lucasarts for this and it would be great if others can adopt this kind of thinking.

LOTR games: Pretty much the same story as Star wars games. They take the large world that is middle earth and its adventures and use everything it has to offer to create its own rich stories that can provide lots of fun gaming. Also these movies are pure action, with nothig else, so games based of the movies are still fun.

James bond games: What this franchise does is take a man like James Bond, and make there own 007 adventures that Holleywood didn't. They also make games based on the movies, but they manage to twist the plot to make the story more gaming friendly.

Maybe someday game franchised can use these strategy's to allow people to relive their favorite moview without it being a horrible expierience.
