I was wondering because I've talked to a few people who hadn't picked up on this, if I'm the only one who caught the clues in Eragon that led me to believe that Murtagh is Eragon's brother before reading Eldest. I asked my cousin who had read the whole book cover to cover if they had revealed Murtagh was Eragon's brother yet and she said.... "Oh, you've read that far already?" I said "No, didn't you notice that in the first book? So I guess I was right then."

YAY! I love gloating! I knew Murtagh would be evil! Praise me!

If you think about it, the book kept talking about how alike they where. But I was too worried they where gonna go Brokeback Mountain to think about family. Eww, there's an image.

In the beginning of Eragon we find out that Eragon's mother left for a long time, came home, gave birth to him and left never to return. Therefore leaving him to be raised by his uncle. When Murtagh is talking about his father and mother later in the book he says that his mother left for a long while and then one day she just came back. I knew as soon as I read this that they had the same mother.
