Alagaesia Newsletter March 2009
Alagaesia Newsletter wrote: I’ve been busy working on a number of projects: first and foremost has been Book Four. I don’t want to give away too much, but what I’ve been writing involves a flaming spear, a duel to the death, magic, elves, and werecats. Fun stuff! I’ve also been drawing Glaedr’s eye and editing deleted scenes for the deluxe edition of Brisingr that will be coming out later this year.
It’s strange to finally be working on the final installment in the series. After so many years spent thinking about this world and these characters, I sometimes find it hard to believe that I’ll be saying goodbye to them before too long. Still, it gives me an enormous sense of satisfaction to write out scenes that I’ve been envisioning for over a decade now, and I can’t wait for you to be able to experience them as well.
The weather here in Montana has been spectacular, alternating between ferocious, whirling blizzards that fill the valley with large, heavy snowflakes, and brilliant, sunny days, such as this one. Right now, a purple shelf of clouds hangs low over the Beartooth Mountains, while rays of pale sunlight slant underneath, illuminating the tan foothills and the dazzling, snowcapped peaks. Living here is a wonderful gift for me as a fantasy writer. If ever I need inspiration, I just look out my window at the landscape, and I feel as much awe and wonder as if I were looking at a dragon.
A very nice reader sent me a quill pen recently, which I write with occasionally. I had never used a quill pen before, so I was surprised by how much ink it can hold; with a single dip I can write a paragraph at least as long as the longest one in this newsletter. Pretty amazing! The only problem with quills is that you have to sharpen and reshape the tip every now and then, and eventually they wear away completely.
In these challenging times, it’s important to keep a sense of humor, so I leave you with this joke: Why is it so hard to get a Dragon Rider to listen to you? . . . Because his head is always in the clouds!
Oh that’s bad.
Anyway, I hope this finds you and your family well. And may your swords stay sharp!
Christopher Paolini

He's right. That was bad xD though I'm a little lost about what he means by Quote: editing deleted scenes for the deluxe edition of Brisingr that will be coming out later this year.

Deleted scenes. So his he talking about scenes that were removed from the original Brisingr or is he talking about a sneak peak into book 4?

Re: Alagaesia Newsletter March 2009
I think that maybe he will add some material which was deleted from the first running of Brisingr.
That means, I have to buy that Edition too!!!~*groans*
The book is supposed to be released on October 13th, 2009 and the cost is $32.99 (USD)

Re: Alagaesia Newsletter March 2009
The limited edition is that late? Wow....for what will probably be in it, thats quite a while away...means there'll probably be another 2 year wait for book 4.
Overall, I thought it was a pretty weak update. He confirmed characters and species already in it (what? There'll be ELVES? duh. Magic? No way!), and the "duel to the death" was kinda a given, as its the last book...the most useful piece of info was the flaming spear, which isn't that big a deal.
Then he just talked about weather and a quill. And a bad joke.

Re: Alagaesia Newsletter March 2009
Well, in responce to your post Seige, it all depends on who, or what for that matter is wielding the spear, I am guessing it will be Rorans, but thats just a guess based off of what I read.

Possibly. Roran might rather his hammer though. Remember why he chose it?

They're cousins. I see where you're going. Roran may accept it, but he might not use it as much as his hammer. Roran, a.k.a. Roran Stronghammer

Hey just because something doesn't look interesting in the update doesn't mean that it won't be extremely important in the book. Who knows? The "flaming spear" might save alagaesia!

True, I mean a flaming spear is cooler than a flaming Sword, and look at the impact it had in Brisingr.

A flaming spear is not better than a flaming sword and it is probably a major part that is gonna be like evryones favorite

lol, when I got to the part where Brisingr burst into flame I screamed "Lightsaber!" rofl!
The flaming spear's pretty cool too. I wonder what purpose it will serve... You guys are right, it could end up being pretty important, or it could just be an interesting addition. Who knows?

On the part where he is writing about his landscape and looking at a dragon, i think that he just wrote the hatching of greenie, in a nice quiet field by the Spine.

Maybe, but it could have been Galby and Shruikan, or Eragon and Saphira.

I don't think its possible for galby to have a nice, quiet look at shruikan, he's too messed up for that.

Yeah, but Galby might not be thinking about Shruikan, he might be thinking about his first dragon.

Jarnunvosk? That was the name of Galby's first dragon but that's all I know. I kinda wish I knew what color he was. I get the feeling he was a dark color.

still, even if he was thinking about his old dragon, he is seriously twisted, and probably isn't capable of those thoughts

Who knows? Galby might surprise us and become so loving that he turns on himself and kills himself and Shruikan.

but then that would disappoint some to most fans of inheritance that eragon didn't get the chance to stab galby

I have to disagree with some of the above who think the info ain't useful CP said that there would be "A" duel to the death and since Galby is most likely to die, I guess Murtagh WILL LIVE

great. just what we need. A useless dragon and Rider roaming Alageasia. And I say useless because Saphira wouldn't mate with Thorn.

he could keep peace in alagaesia inheritanceluver12: eragon will be leaving with anothere DR, (arya), and then murtagh will do that wile nasuada rules, a duel to the death could be murtagh vs. islanzadi with murtagh winning, b4 he goes good

And how do you know this much, eragonrules990, whom replies to most of my posts? How do you know what CP is going to write, unless you work for him or are CP, both of which I highly doubt.
