Post The Beatles
I love The Beatles! I hope there isn't a topic already about The Beatles.

George is my favorite, as you can see by my avatar. I have a lot of favorite songs, but I realllllllly like I am the Walrus, because it doesn't make sense. :D

Post Re: The Beatles
HAHA! Yay!

I love the Beatles. The best band ever. End of story.

(my avatar too:D)

I like them so much. :D First, they all can(could) write and sing quite well. Second, I liked how they have so many songs that are good and their experimentation. Ah, I could go on forever. Same with favorite songs, but I'll try and list a few of my favorite favorites in no real order.

Real Love, Free as A Bird, Hey Jude, Let it Be, Eleanor Rigby, Help!, Yesterday, If I Fell, The Night Before, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Rocky Raccoon, She's Leaving Home, When I'm 64, A Day In the Life, With A Little Help From My Friends, In My Life(great song), Girl, and the list goes on. I'm sure I forgot about 15

I have to listen to more of their individual work. I've listened to a lot of lennon, favorite songs of his are- Jealous Guy(great song), Imagine(possibly the best song), Oh My Love, his cover of Stand by me, Watching the Wheels, Happy Christmas(War is Over)-great, Mother, Love, Mind Games, Whatever Gets You Through The Night, etc.

George Harrison's All Those Years Ago, And Ringo's recent song about Liverpool are good.

you made a good point about there experimentation. they have done so many styles! they even could rock out a slow song! lol!

Eh, I don't like Penny Lane either, but believe me: It's nothing compared to Revolution 9 off the White Album. That's the worst Beatles song I have ever heard.

Haha yeah forsworn, I've even heard some screaming stuff they did near the end, sounded just like today's metal...that was strange.

Post Re: The Beatles
Revolution? I actually kinda liked that song, but yea, it was pretty experimental...

silver, you shud listen to some the beatles work in their first 6 years of being a band. after 67, they kinda got weird... but here's a lot of their good songs (for silver, and anyone else who wants to get interested:
    Help!
    Ticket to Ride
    Can't Buy Me Love
Love Me Do (their first hit single)
Twist and Shout (warning: WILL be stuck in ur head)
    Here Comes the Sun
    Yellow Submarine
    Eleanor Rigby
    Hey Jude
All You Need is Love (warning: WILL be stuck in ur head)

I am the Walrus (this is after 66, and it represents how weird and random the beatles can be if they want to)
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
    Strawberry Fields Forever
A Hard Day's Night (which is wat i'm listening to right now)
Yesterday (warning: WILL be stuck in ur head)
    Helter Skelter
Back in the U.S.S.R. (this and Helter Skelter are after 66, but they're still awesome)

the ones underlined are the ones u shud DEFINITELY listen to.

Forswornmomk, I disagree completely with you lol. Some of their best work was after 67....Let it Be is just one example.

haha you missed a lot of good songs during the early time period as well ;)

Imagine is in my opinion the best song ever written. :D

Wait... how are you online right now? :?

Anyway, I must agree with the earlier statement - Yellow Submarine is classic (and completely absurd at the same time... >.<).

@Kotorchief- well, i think that some of their work got a little too moody, but they still produced o.k. songs. but their songs weren't as fun as they were in the earlier days. after their manager (i can't recall his name) died, they kinda got a little to experimental.

also, kotor, they stopped touring in either 66 or 67, which brought them into the recording studio to produce future hits, but they didn't seem like big buddies now. they kept on having quarrels in which ringo and lennon left numerous times. b4, they wud have a lot of fun touring and making movies (yes, while they were high...)

in summary, their songs were o.k., but were more serious and moody later on. but yes, Let it Be was a great song... a great finishing song as well...

@tokenbrand- YELLOW SUBMARINE IS A CLASSIC!!! it's one of their best songs and most popular. i know many ppl aged from 5 to 60 that can recall that song. how can you say it's one of their bad songs?

No, their songs weren't as fun, but often were more complex and experimental after that time. It's an opinion thing I suppose.

They stopped touring because of the crowds screaming I believe.

Eh, they wouldn't have kept going if they hated it that much.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps
The long and winding road
Dont let me down
etc etc. Good songs they made after as well :)

I like the moodiness and seriousness

ooh, While My Guitar Gently Weeps starts out sounding Indian, cuz of George's sitar... which is another interesting point of how influenced George was after learning meditation and sitar... he even embraced Hinduism...

also, the Beatles were vegetarian (i'm not sure if all of them were actually) and they supported animal rights. some of their more controversial public endorsements was anti-war acts, and how they signed a petition for the legalization of cannabis...

lol, i always think it funny how Lennon said, "The Beatles are more popular than Jesus now." and a bunch of Christian villages started banning the selling and listening of the Beatles albums.

I agree with you kotor, Imagine is probably the best song ever written! :D

Penny Lane isn't THAT bad, it's just kinda...dry...? :?

I personally don't like Yellow Submarine that much, but it IS a classic.

I LOVE REVOLUTION!! (except the ending *shudders*)

Lolz, that also reminds me of Ticket to Ride: Paul was making funny faces behind John; John looked back and started to crack up, it was HILARIOUS! Yup, The Beatles probably had so many inside jokes...

@forsworn-*shakes head* You are obsessed, my friend.

Lolz, yesterday as we were watching the ball drop on TV, they were playing this one song before the ball started to drop. It sounded really familiar, until I realized they were playing John Lennon's Imagine! Me and my friend screamed and started to sway with our hands in the air. It was funny because everyone was staring at us. Now I'll remember that song as the last song I listened to in 2008.

Imagine.

I don't think so, but they might have done song or two together like the three of them did in 1995. (Well four technically, because they used tapes that Lennon left around, so he was in on it too)
So they did get together one last time in a way.
The two songs they did: Free as a Bird

Real love

The last songs done by the Beatles. I adore them both of course.

Yeah, those are all really great songs. It's just that my view of those songs were ruined when forsworn and my cousins showed me vids of some of the Beatles' songs played backwards. They said all this creepy stuff about Paul being dead and all. The scariest was probably Blue Jay Way (*tear* it was a George song), I still shudder when I think about it! ( I know pathetic isn't it) I'd post the vid, but I forget what it was called...

Actually George wrote a lot of songs, but Paul and John didn't like them so he waited until his solo career to release some of them on his albums. They only put one or two of his songs on each album.
True, they probably did that just to have some fun. :D

Post Re: The Beatles
Yeah, I know, katara. Really, katara, I didn't know that?

Do you know what's weird? I listened to She Loves You today for the first time...and I'm addicted!

Also, yesterday, I listened to I'm Down (not for the first time), and looked up the lyrics. Yep, I'm addicted.

If anyone cares...

I meant the ones he did with the others. ;)

Sorry, despite my 3000 odd posts I'm not that chatty, and I forgot about this topic, assuming one can forget about the Beatles. ;)

I've liked 'She Loves You' since I was about 8, before I knew what any of it meant. I probably said this already, but amazing thing about their early work is that it is so simple...

I looked up 'I'm down' a few minutes ago, didn't like it so much. Personal taste. ;)

Hmm, recently I have listened to:
'You won't see me'
'I'll Follow the sun' (same, since about 8 )
'I've Just Seen a face'
'In My Life' (love this)

Thanks, kotor.

My one teacher, who is a Beatlemanic (Beatlemania~>Beatlemaniac har, har, har  ) like moi, LOVES the song In My Life.

I'm Down is a cool song. It was one of the first songs I listened to last summer (when I got addicted).
