 Shards Of A LegacyI recently had a book published locally that is the story of Eragon from Saphira's perspective. It's had some critical acclaim and some flat critics, but nonetheless I should share. It is just before the events of "Through a Dragon's Eye" in Eragon. Just an excerpt, but meh, can't put a full book.
Shards Of A Legacy, Chapter 12, Page 187 ----------------------------------------- She could do nothing but wait. Wait and hide, like a rabbit rooted to it's hole to escape the hungry wolf. Saphira had disliked the lands and the constant threats that forced her to hide, apart from Eragon. But over time, that dislike had become loathing, and from loathing to hatred. The situation was taking a strenuous toll on her, Eragon, and also Brom. Catching a light breeze under her azure wings, Saphira rose steadily while doting on her thoughts. Frustrated, Saphira thought in the warm mid-day sun, "Why must such misfortune befall on not just Eragon's shoulders, but upon my own as well? It is understandable that I must not be seen, else a traveler with a loose hinge in his jaw may speak of my existance to Galbatorix, and we would all be in danger. But if I constantly hide, Eragon will slowly forget he is a Rider and, worse still, drift apart from me. I have not forgotten my duties as a dragon, and I will make sure Eragon does not forget his own as a Rider. Whether I have to pull him kicking and yelling off of that deer-animal they call a horse, I will make sure he embraces his place as a Rider of dragons, not a Rider of creatures not fit to feed a fox. When the light breaks, once and for all shall I show my importance.
