First, 3 were okay, but know they just drag on. He's writing, it's true, the last book of the series now.

I got about half way through book 8 and just couldn't go on. When you read a book like LotR and you finish you want more. With WoT you get to the point where you just want it to end. The other thing that really bugs me is the fact that some of the books will skip whole plot lines, so by the time you finish it and start the next one you have totally forgotten about what was going on during that thread of the plot.
I’ll stop ranting now. I agree with some of the above posts. The books could have been compressed into 4 or 5 books max. After a while you feel like the characters are just going around in circles.

I remember when i was young in 1777. I remember being a powerless man that could not control my fate much less that of the people around me. I temember hearing the howls of the wolves and wishing i could run with them. And then came that faithful day when i was attacked by a lone wolf looking for food. It turns out what he called a curse was a blessing to me. I was finally able to run with the wolves not just in my imagination but in reality with four paws of my own. I was no longer a mere man or a victim of fate but a creature of the night, an immortal, A WereWolf.

Re: Wheel of Time series
yeah, 12 books are out now. its going to end with the 13th he said, no matter if it takes like 2000 pages. only thing is....he died.....his notes are still in the hands of the publishers, and they announced that they will finish the book, with a good chance of it ending like he wanted it to, his notes are that complete.
ive read up to 11, but havent got a chance to read 12; cant remember a whole lot, i read them 2 years ago.

Re: Wheel of Time series
well I just got this Email alert and in it you will find 2 things 1) the next book will be "A Memory of Light, will be finished by fantasy writer Brandon Sanderson using notes and a partial draft left with Jordan’s wife and editor, Harriet Rigney, and is expected to be published in fall 2009 by Tor Books"
and 2) that EA games is making a MMORPG based on the book and soon to be movie
just thought I'd share that

Re: Wheel of Time series
The Wheel of Time Series is about a world that is in effect, in the basic fight of Light and Dark...
Wiki is going to do MUCH better job than I will at explaining,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wheel_of_Time
Anyways, it's an amazing Series that puts LOTR to shame (OPINION!) and I encourage anyone with a little time on there hands to check it out, granted the First book is a little slow, you get hooked in by the middle of the third book regardless
and for all who care, the last book will total 700,000 words + (the current highest is 393,823 in The Shadow Rising)
Just check it out

Idk, I got really really bored after like the 4th book. The first 4 were freaking amazing, but after that I couldn't stand to read anything, it was all so boring.

Re: Wheel of Time series
Woot here it comes!!! GATHERING STORM COMING LATE OCTOBER EARLY NOVEMBER! Yes, the 12 and *Hopefully* final book is coming out soon, I'm re-reading 11 at the moment EDIT: ok, I lied, here's a quote from Dragonmount Dragonmount wrote: In March 2009, it was announced that A Memory of Light was going to be far too long to contain into a single novel and would be published as three seperate novels instead. This was primarily a creative decision, and not a business one. (For a full explanation of why this decision was made, please read Brandon's blog post on the topic).
The final three books will be:
1. The Gathering Storm 2. Shifting Winds (Working title... Brandon says it WILL change!) 3. Tarmon'Gaidon (Working title - alt title: A Memory of Light)
It was originally discussed that these books would be written as one book that was simply divided. This is NOT the case. Each book will be its own independent novel, with its own story and chracter arcs. *Is very very disappointed now...* http://www.dragonmount.com/Books/Gathering_Storm/

Re: Wheel of Time series
So in other words, technically, there are going to be 15 books by the end of the series? *faints* That's a lot....
I'm in the last 100-or-so pages of the third book.
And has anybody ever actually met somebody with yellow eyes? I have. Me and one other person at my school. (She graduated last year.)

Re: Wheel of Time series
My eyes sometimes appear yellow. They're really hazel that change every few minutes. I've read the series 1 1/2 times, but haven't had time in two months to read long books. I guess I'd better make time so I'm ready to read when the next one finally comes out.

Mine are just plain yellow. BJ's were more of a really pale gold.
I know how you feel. I've only read like 3 books so far this year. Normally I'd have read about 10 by now...
When exactly does the last book come out?

Re: Wheel of Time series
ok, so I went to the library the other day to go get the new book, and I'm going though the shelves trying to remember the name of the book when I see this monster book. Taking it off the shelf I notice that it's Gathering Storm, the book I was looking for. This book is huge, and there are two more to come, I was scared to even pick it up, I mean, I could hurt someone with that thing...

Re: Wheel of Time series
Okay, I made it my goal this year to read as many of the WoT books that I could before graduation. I started on the 3rd one (where I left off last year) and now, a month before graduation, I've made it halfway through the ninth one. That's a lot of reading. And those aren't even the only books I've read this year.
