I just found out the 3-D version is more expensive. :/ Did you all have to pay more? Is it worth it? The last 3D movie I saw was Spy Kids 3-D xDD , which made my eyes hurt... also the effect struck me as more of a gimmick.

You pay extra for the glasses. I only saw it in 3D so I can't compare the two, but it's not a "right in your face" type of 3D like that movie.

I went to see it just then. Was good, definately the best graphics I've ever seen in any movie. The storyline was fine, though based a little too much around war.
I wished there was a better scene where Ney (I'll just call her that) meets Jake as a human.

Why? she met him and understood that the person she was teaching was also the person she held in her arms, so she didn't kill him, (which sadly I think I would have laughed from Irony) it was touching (coming from me about a movie that means a lot)

Avatar has become the number one bestselling (cash bringer xD) of all time, beating the former number one Titanic (Both of James Cameron!)

I thought it was alright. It was a lot better than I thought it would be and I have to give them credit for how much they had to do with making the entire world and stuff. That was my favorite part, getting to see all of that. The only thing I didn't really like was how big they were.

The graphics were awesome but the basic storyline has been used way to much.

Yeah, but I heard it was recently beaten in the box office by some random, corny love story movie. I haven't seen Avatar myself, but I think that's kinda sad.
@Cutter & dracoestas: Yeah, I've heard from people who have seen the movie that it's about war and how people are so ruthless or whatever, and my first reaction was: "Wow, how many movies have I seen that are like that by now?" But I don't know, it could be much better than what I've heard.

Okay... Well i don't know where you heard that, but Avatar is all alone up in the box office list with a total of $2,239,605,653 !! (And it's still showing!!) Titanic is 2nd with an estimated $1,835,300,000 and 3rd would be Lord of the Rings: Return of the King with $1,129,219,252. And it goes down more after that (only 5 movies ever crossed the 1,000,000,000 mark and Avatar's the first to get over 2,000,000,000! Pretty hard to beat xD )

I just got home from watching it in 3-D! It was such a great movie! I was so glad that Jake decided not to be human! It was sad too. When all those people died at the end I felt like I was going to cry.

I just love the way the writers of the story made the audience start cheering for the Na'ri when they started killing humans. They can really mess with your head.
Don't misunderstand me though, I LOVED this movie through and through. The best movie of all time I have ever seen. When someone asks me what my favorite movie is, I can now say it is hands-down Avatar.

They are supposedly making three movies. One for each chapter of the series, Water, Earth, and Fire.

i liked it too. but i think people overreacted about it. it's a good movie, but not that good. in my town it appeared before Christmas as it did in the US and it is still on at the cinema. i don't think the sequels will be very good. they will make it only for the money and it will have a very bad plot.

You can't know that, especially not when the first movie is only just out.. That's just generalizing, there are plenty of movies out there that have very good sequels..

Yeah, and James Cameron is really good at sequels, in fact some say he's the best for sequels and trilogies.
Avatar was an INCREDIBLE movie, but it wasn't perfect, so that leaves room for improvement, which I'm sure we'll see. I'm just wondering how they'll continue the story on the other moons; I've been trying to figure that out since I first heard him say that that's where the story is headed.

I just hope they'll keep the same main characters, but I don't think they will. I bet the next one is going to be more of a prequel.

Have you seen some of the interviews they did with JC? He specifically stated that all following movies would follow Jake and Neytiri, and that they will be using the same actors as well.

The sequels which are part of a greater story usually are more quality. ;] Like the two towers wasn't a sequel, it was the second part. I remember reading somewhere that it was intended all along to have a larger story...so don't give up all hope yet. =P

I agree with kotor. In this case, and most cases I think, the first movie is just to see if people will like it. It is stand alone, but also has the ability to continue the story. I think that is was JC was doing with Avatar, and obviously it was a HUGE success. It has the highest net income of any movie ever, and probably will till Avatar 2 comes out.

It's just that most movies I've seen where there's a sequel and the movie isn't based off a book, the sequel isn't very good.

I saw avatar again in the theaters and it was even better the second time!! lol but I have to agree with eragon+arya about the sequal thing. Books are always better, even in sequals, like harry potter, but that didn't do too bad. The Lord of the Rings is an example of a success in three sequals. The third movie was better than the first two put together!

The Humans were horrible to them. you don't just go off and force other people to learn your culture, but not just completely ignore theirs. that's cruel of the human! And then they destroy their home just for a mine full of rocks! that's inhumane, though they aren't human, but the same rules apply! I'm not talking about you Jaythe_wise, just all Avatar haters. You are completely right, unfortunately. It's drawn from our own history... it's happened countless times. =/ In specific, I believe that the films is portraying the utter destruction of our native people in America, with some current War on Terror buzzwords mixed in. And if the Native Americans/Peoples were as tough to kill and as advanced as the blue people, we'd all still be living in England.
I remember "shock and awe". >_>
@jay- well, it was cliche and rather obvious, but the XPLOOSSSINS! . Anyway, the good side was shown too. For every token evil scarred guy, there's a Sigourney Weaver badass. =] But I can see where you're coming from.
The Mega-Bomber was engineered all wrong. They NEVER considered that natives would throw stuff in engines. Civilian planes can fly on one engine now. That's military, should have been even tougher.

lol yeah. Avatar had the best effects of any movie I have seen so far, although the lord of the rings still kicks butt. Avatar is one of the best, and it is true as a few of you have mentioned, it is kind of predictable, in some areas.

I thought I posted here?
Anyway, I loved the movie, I liked it alot. I will probably see the sequal, but I have my doubts about it. It doesn't seem like they can do much after the first one. Do you know anything about it yet?

Come on guys, other people are allowed to have different opinions. There's no one right opinion about music or movies, just varying tastes.
There's plenty they could do. My guess would be the humans re-arming and coming back with a vengeance, given that they stated this ore is necessary for Earth's survival.

They wouldn't kill her. She's the main character's girlfriend.

they have killed off main characters in movies before, especially James Cameron. Well, she still shouldn't die. What about the humans that were allowed to stay though?
