Home Village: A small village in the Beor Mountains that only he has memories of. He calls it Vraelar. It was destroyed by a band of Urgals on Galbatorix's orders.

Parents: Onya and Ragun were killed trying to protect their home from a band of urgals when Kijara was 10 years old.

Siblings: He has one sister named Jacia.

Character Personality: Kijara is even more shy and cautious than his sister. He usually lets Jacia do the talking when they come to towns in their travels. Occasionally, when they pause to take a break, he makes some friends, but he never allows himself to trust them. At certain times he isn't even sure he truly trusts Jacia who he raised from an infant, although he is extremely loyal to her. The only reason he wouldn't do what she asked is if it put her in danger, although he is older than her. He is very patient and it is hard to get him angry. He would never harm a child or woman even if it meant he would die. He is sympathetic to his enemies and usually takes their bodies to their families if they are human, and if not, then he finds a way to get them to their families. If he can't do that, then he buries or burns them himself. He honors his enemies and treats them with respect.
Kijara rarely smiles and even more rarely means them.

Character History: Kijara was born in a small town called Vraelar in the Beor Mountains. Everybody in his village was of the same race and spoke the ancient language. He was raised there until the age of 10 when a band of Urgals attacked. His father had died trying to defend the town and his mother was trapped under a burning beam in their house when she told him to take five-month-old Jacia and run as far as he can and then to hide.
Kijara did so. He ran as far as his small legs could carry him, but he couldn't transform because their powers only manifest themselves during and after the awkward years of adolescence. So he hid with baby Jacia in a hollow log a half mile from their burning town. The next day, he went back to look for survivers. He never found any.
Kijara took some things from the ruins of their town such as a belt knife, a broad sword, a long bow, and some cooking things. He struggled to survive and keep his baby sister in good health and often became weak with hunger. Once he got his shape shifting ability, he flew through the valleys of the Beor Mountains and studied the animals there. He gained inspiration through nature and created his own style of sword fighting.
When Jacia was old enough, he told her about how their home was destroyed and they decided together that they would hunt down and take revenge upon any urgals they could find. They included Galbatorix and his soldiers because the urgals would have never seen their town if they hadn't been looking for the varden on Galbatorix's orders.

Weapons: A broad sword, a belt knife, and a long bow. He made the long bow himself. It is almost as tall as he is and has small carvings of wings all over it. The string is a bunch of hair from his tail when he transforms.(Jacia helped him get the hairs). The broad sword was his father's which he found still in his father's hand when he went back to look for survivors. He found the belt knife the same way as the sword, except the belt knife was in a sheath on his father's belt.

Likes: Nature and innocence

Dislikes: Human-made objects including the weapons he carries, guilt, and dragons (predators).

Animal Companions: Steiner the pack mule

Character's Physical Description: Jet Black hair that falls down to his shoulder blades. He has large tilted brown eyes. His frame makes him look like an elf, but he isn't. When he is in pegusus form, he is midnight black with white stalkings. His feathers are mottled black and brown. He usually wears black dyed cotton and ties his hair back. He is 5'11". Kijara doesn't look muscular, but in fact is very strong due to training with his sword all the time.

Dreams for the Future: Kill as many urgals as possible.

Reason for Dreams: Urgals killed his family and destroyed the only home he ever knew.

Alignment/side: Against Galbatorix, but fears going to the varden.
