Hey Guys

We have always had rules about the size of the signatures, but we all know that none of us actually ever followed them. Five lines of normal text is much bigger then most pictures that were used in signatures. I myself did not really follow the guidelines which we had in place.

Well we have now updated them to better reflect your need, our needs and everyones needs. We have gone away with rule 2C which stated the maximum of five lines of normal text and have replaced it with dimensions. The new rule 2Ei and 2Eii state that the maximum size of the signature should be 500 pixels wide by 200 pixels high. This should work well for both text and images. You can use this image has a reference :



We ask you to please update your signatures so that it resides within these boundaries. In the week following this announcement we will begin to remind people who have not modified their signatures to follow these new guidelines.

---> Just another note for people that may pose this Question:

We do know that on some topics the size of a post in width can become larger, but we do not want the signature to be the cause of the page editing the width, also known as page stretching. And so text which goes beyond 500 pixels will be acceptable as long as the line in question does not make the page stretch.

this makes me very very happy panda. I'm glad we're finally putting down some boundaries for sigs.

Edit: I have fixed the one that caused the problem for bike, but you have to understand that there is always some collateral damage when you are working with a word censor

Just by not including the s in bikes there would have not been any problem.

This sig change well keep the size of the pages a bit down and will make it faster for anyone who may be using 56kbs. Who is still using this?

We that still doesn't stop me from making mistakes occasionaly. I'll be blaming this one on hitnrunner

Its fine aang, it needs to be within 500 x 200 and yours is 400 X 200 pixels.... for future refference you can check by right clicking over the image and going to properties

Oh wow, i didnt think that those demensions were the entire sig size but i guess so.... in that case Aang you going to need to move your lyrics to the side of your sig then itll be fine... sjlsscsdoo yours looks a bit too long, but since the enitire sig has to be only 200 pixel hight, its hard to really measure... Aang's was easy to tell becuase i know his avatar sig itself is the max height so.... Else you kinda just have to eye it up....

It will be gradual, but we are asking everyone to please modify there signature to be in line with this.

Well you signature seems to be fine.

On another note I have begun sending pm to certain users who have signatures which do not follow the new guidelines. Like we have stated previously this will be a gradual process which could take a couple of days or weeks to fully implement. If you have one of those really long signatures and have not received a pm from myself or a message from one of the team member don't wait for it to happen . If you are reading this message you should be aware of the changes we implemented to the signatures on SaphiraForums.

It had came to a point were some signatures were so big that scrolling on a page of 15 post became a good exercise for the finger on the scroll wheel . Some of these signatures obviously had alot of work placed into them, but sometimes improvements are required. In this case it will make it easier to browse a page on Saphiraforums and might make less frightening to new user who might not be used to a forum community such has SaphiraForums.

For those that had alot of text in your signature you could always make it smaller or place it in an animate gif or png. This would allow you to still have all of your important quotes and texts which are so important to you while still following the size requirements. If anyone needs any help with this task I can help with the process, but it might 1 to 2 days to get it done.

Roran: There is a possibility that Roran might become the new rider. Because of Eragon's dream in the first book, Roran's dragon would fly off with Saphira when Eragon leaves Alagesia forever. Considering the title, Inheritance, and the fact that all the new Riders are seemingly "related". There is also a part in Eldest says that Roran was convinced in his heart of hearts (he doesn't have a heart of heart, but dragons do). Garrow was quoted in Eldest, speaking to Roran, about their land, that "..if you take care of it, it takes care of you. Not too many things are like that." Other than land, a dragon does that. Also, Tamerlein, the green dragon rider sword, could very well become the sword of the green dragon's rider. The sword is described by Eragon as being meant for someone with a fighting style that relied more upon cutting and slashing. This style seems very appropriate for Roran, saying as how Roran prefers to fight with a hammer as of now. However, the brightsteel that Eragon retrieved from the Menoa Tree was enough for a few more swords or other types of weapons. Rhunon could use the same tactic in creating a new sword for the next rider if they had the speed of an elf. If he is the rider than maybe he breaks tradition and has Horst (with Rhunon's help) forge a brightsteel hammer. It also could possibly be Roran because in the third book he said that he wanted to learn magic.

Arya: It is quite possible that Arya will be the next rider. It is likely the Rider will be female considering that it is suspected the green dragon will be Saphira's mate, and if Saphira falls in love with the green dragon, Eragon's affection will most likely transfer to the green dragon's Rider. Because of the bond between Eragon and Saphira and also because of his dream where he was leaving on a ship with a mate and over the ship were two dragons flying side by side in the first book. Eragon has been infatuated with Arya in the past. Although this led to a confrontation between them in Eldest, the two of them worked together and bonded in Brisingr. Arya revealed her past and her conflicts to Eragon, and the two appear to be getting closer, another incident of this is on their way back to the Varden when she heals Eragon's hand when he was clearly capable. She also looks to Eragon for comfort when Oromis and Glaedr die. In addition, her magic and eyes are as green as the color of the supposed dragon. Paolini states that when someone, elf or human, bonds to a dragon, their magic automatically changes to the dragon's color, regardless what it might have previously been. Arya is the most likely candidate because of the events that took place in Brisingr. Eragon and Arya fighting together against the Shade, connecting their minds when they fought Murtagh and Thorn, and also the previously stated emotional connection and influence. Arya would be a convenient candidate. Also it is unlikely that a human would become the rider due to the fact that they must be able to fight against Galbatorix. Arya already is a great swordsman and is adept in magic, thus she needs little training (except for the green dragon, which would receive training from Saphira). Also, her magic is green and the dragons and its rider are suppose to have the same color of magic.
Nasuada: Nasuada is a strong possibility for the next rider. She is likely because she is female, and also because she would be one of the first people to come into contact with the dragon egg before Arya if the Varden stole it.
i realy dont want nuesuada or roran to be the next rider i would prefer if it were arya than it would all be perfect. and i really hope that eragon adn saphira get to stay in alegasia forever lol

I have a question: If we see somebody posting with too long of a signature, should we PM one of you? I know we really can't do anything about members no longer active, because they do not know the rule, but people who we see posting lately? I haven't seen TOO many, but there has been a few I don't think fit.......

Text will collapse to the following line. The problem is images don't and that is were the width really applies. Your text does not need to fit in the perfectly little box, but it needs to follow the height.
