this is pure theory, but i want to know what you think, i believe that brom told eragon his true name, and that at the start of book three eragon will go to the menoa tree and take a weapon from under it, this weapon will be made by the menoa tree itself, like singing a weapon, it will not have been used before, and when eragon touches it, it will turn blue.
then later he will go to the rock of kuithan, and speak his true name, nothing will happen.
so he will draw upon magic and speak his true name, summoning his esscense, then he will use then souls as an energy source, which he will use to merge his body into his esscence, and will have greater control over his own power because he is an esscence, rather than a body, he will then absorb the soul energy to make him much stronger and will go and kill galatorix, freeing murtagh from his binds. because shruikan did not hatch for galby, he will live and eragon, murtagh , saphira , thorn +new dragon and rider. will fight to kill shruikan in an epic battle.. [/b]Shruikan will be like massive and really powerful[b]. btw, eragon will be leader of the varden as nasuada will die. also the roots of the menoa tree could mean the beginings, so he might not have to tunnel under the tree to find the weapon, instead solve a riddle or something.

Look at the #2 definition of origin and the #12 def. of the word under. The preposition "under the roots" could be rephrased to say "(listed) under the origin" sooo... Let's think... instead of looking under the physical roots themselves, Eragon might have to look into the origins of the Menoa tree itself.

Not a bad theory, but i just thought of somthin, Shades use spirits to accomplish their will, and Durza became evill becuase evil souls , stronger than him, took over him, whats to stop this from happening to eragon

It won't happen to Eragon because he's not a sorcerer. He doesn't know how to control spirits or even how to summon them. And a final thought, if it actually DOES happen, Saphira will be there to help Eragon and to rid his body of the spirit.

Don't you think that it would be a bad thing for Eragon to know because of his future battle w/ Galby, who is a master at breaking into minds. The weapon is most likely a literal weapon, like the one Eragon lost, a sword. Furthermore, it is probably Brom, Eragon's true father's sword. The word roots can mean origin, or lineage (thank you Deception Island, but I have already done this last year. i would have jumped on this topic, but I just got back), so the sword is probably in Linnea's house's possesion. We leareded from Rhunon that 2 of her swords are protected by 2 families. These are most likely Elven families, which supports the sword being "under" the protection of Linnea's family.
