Conrad - a con man
Conrad - a con man
Name: - Conrad (real name unknown)
Age:- 24
Gender: - Male
Skills:
Diplomacy Conrad is a very persuasive speaker. He absolutely has to be in order to steal huge amounts of money from the rich (not to mention small amounts from the poor). He uses this "skill" not only to trick people out of their hard earned cash, but also to keep out of any fights that might spring up.
Fighting Conrad is a fairly skilled fighter, using a hatchet and a dagger to defend himself. He wields both weapons with a good level of expertise, and is a pretty dangerous fighter to face of against. However, the short length of his weapons puts him at a disadvantage, so he tries to keep away from physical modes of combat. (its easier for him to infuriate his opponents into making a mistake.)
The Con Conrad is in fact a con man, and a very successful one at that. He and his band of thieves have refined and perfected the "art" of the con to such an extent, that they are on the verge of having too much money. While the average thief will break into a vault to steal money, Conrad and his men will trick the owner of the vault into opening it for them. Sometimes these con games take years to complete. While everyone in the band has an important part, Conrad is the brains behind each and every game. He meticulously plans out how they will get the money; who they will pretend to be, the disguises they will use, the components of the game, and the overall outcome of their mission. Sometimes it's all he thinks about. It's a gift.
Miscellaneous Conrad is strong with magic, but he doesn't know enough of the ancient language to use it well.
Race: - Half-elf
Hair: - Medium length blood red hair, but he changes it brown to avoid attention.
Eyes: - Pale Green
Home Village: - Uru'baen
Parents: - Unknown
Siblings: - Unknown
Character Personality: Conrad is the kind of guy who pretends to be serious and silent, but is in fact the opposite. He just trained himself to hide it. He enjoys listening to, telling, and even making up his own jokes. He doesn't mind getting drunk, and prefers being dirty to being clean (people notice him even less if possible). He enjoys having long conversations about nothing in particular, even going so far as talking to himself if no one is around. Conrad also like planning con games, and loves his line of "work". He wouldn't trade it for anything. All though it may not seem so, the thrill of a heist is in itself half the reward...money isn't everything right? Conrad dislikes killing people, and detests people who treat others cruelly. However, if someone is being mistreated he stays away. It's better not to get in a fight that has nothing to do with you. If one of his band is mistreated however, out come his dagger and hatchet. Conrad highly prefers diplomacy to a fight and keeps away from them as much as he can. The one (very) bad thing about Conrad is that he is addicted to con games. He can't seem to stop doing them, and it will probably lead to trouble some day.
Character History: The first few years of Conrad's life are a mystery to him, as his first memory is when he was six years old. He woke up in a small tent with a a horrible headache, hardly able to move. When he reached up to touch his head, his hand came away bloodied. One glance at the far side of the enclosure, and he saw a shovel with dried blood crusted on its surface. A large man came into the tent and with a toothless grin dragged him outside into the blinding light. For the next five years of his life, Conrad was a slave, forced to work from day to night under the lash of the whip. At that time he only got a dry loaf of bread, and a bowl of water twice a day. The slave group that had captured him moved constantly about, finally arriving at Gilead. They stayed there for a few days, getting supplies and selling off some people. Finally they began to leave the city. Right as they passed through the gates however, an old man of about 67 years hurried up to them, took a quick glance at Conrad and offered to buy him. Though the leader of the slavers said the boy was not for sale, the old man persisted, finally buying him for an outrageously high price. Conrad was made to join the clothiers guild...which was stationed in Uru'baen; and what was actually a secret guild of thieves and mercenaries. Conrad soon caught on to the art of the con, and became one of the best con men in the guild. The old man named him Conrad, taught him how to use the hatchet and dagger, and became like Conrad's father. Everything was going well. The guild was rich and everyone in it was happy to be doing what they did. All of this ended in one day, 10 years after Conrad had joined the guild. While he and ten others were out on a heist, a group of 200 of Galbatorix's men came and slaughtered everyone in the "clothier's guild" leaving none alive. Only Conrad and his ten friends survived. When they entered the guild house and found their friends massacred they decided not to leave, but to stay in Uru'baen and hurt Galbatorix as much as they could and maybe even avenge what was once a guild. They have been there for the last three years and are now 15 men strong.
Weapons: A fighting hatchet and a long dagger, both pale gray.
Likes: - money, apples, and his work as well as his band of thieves and mercenaries.
Dislikes: - slavery, Galbatorix, cruelty
Weakness / Fear: - He is afraid for the safety of his friends.
Animal Companions: - a small lizard named Amancipal
Character's Physical Description: Conrad is thin and rather short, about 5 foot 8 give or take. He is neither handsome nor memorable; his face is so plain that it just can't stick in your head. He has no markings on his body, no scars, nothing. He's just an average looking guy. Much too regular. However, he somehow manages to look like whoever he needs to look like for a certain con game. For that matter, so can everyone in his band. If they need to look rich and important they look rich and important. If they need to look fierce and barbaric that is how they look. Once his role is done though, no one he conned would recognize him if he passed five feet in front of them. It's his job to not be memorable, and he does it to perfection. Conrad's clothes vary according to the con game he is currently involved in, but his normal clothes are dirty and brown to keep from being memorable. That is the only way they can be explained. Because of his mixed heritage, Conrad looks like a human and not an elf. (his features were probably changed at some point to keep him plain.)
Dreams for the Future: - To stay extremely rich and to see Galbatorix overthrown
Reason for Dreams: - He likes money and dislike Galbatorix because the king had his friends killed, and slavery thrives under his rule.
Alignment/side: - Not exactly good, but definitely not evil.
