OK, this is speculation, nothing concrete, so bear with me.
The werecats prophecy mentions that Eragon should speak his name into the vault of souls when his power is insuficient. I am quite sure that this will be his true name, the name of power. I am thinking that the vault of souls will give him the true name of the ancient language, the one that Brom mentions in the first book. This will give Eragon power over the very fabric of magic, and all those who use it. With this power, Eragon will face Galbotorix, and rend him powerless, he will then pause, as Vrael did, and hesitate on the final blow. Then, he will be attacked by the powerless Galbotorix, yet just before the sword/spear/axe/whatever it is Galbotorix weilds lands the fatal blow, he will proclaim the languages name, slaying Galbotorix, and all his spell casters. This, however, will either kill Eragon, or rend him a powerless cripple.
To Angelas prophecy now, that Eragon would leave Alagaesia for ever, after loosing his powers, he will feel the need to travel to the elves homeland, and stay there with Saphira for ever
(That is if she does not die)

You know, that is actually a good theroy. Though, I don't think that Eragon will hestate. I think he will kill galboritrux and venture to a new land to look for more dragons as he promised to saphira.

i like the last idea, i agree wiv ur theory but think Eragon will not faulter nd will leave insearch of dragons, i hope he finds them to, i love Saphira. Would love it if she found the dragons elsewhere

same here. I don't think that Eragon will hesitate at all. After all, the king killed his uncle, wreaked his home, wreaked Cavahall, sent an army of urgals to the varden, killed of all the riders, killed off almost all the dragons, and is trying to eradicate the elves.

If that were me, I wouldn't hesitate to kill him at all, but you never know what twist CP will think of

Ahh well, I suppose I have been reading to many other books with saddish lately, so Eragon might just go and kill Galbotorix without hesataiting, but in my opinion, there has to be some twist to the storys end. I love twists

Not all twists r good, but u know that is probly what CP is going to do.

Eragon has been gaining new sympathy for enemies though, possibly he will save Galbatorix life. Maybe imprisoning him or taking his powers away. I do beleive that he will leave to search for new dragons.

if hes smart he will just kill galbatorix on the spot no hesitastion otherwise something bad is bound to happen

i don't think so think about it galbatorix has destroyed or ordered the destruction countless lives in his time as king i doubt eragon will have a choice but to kill him and as for the leaving to find more dragons i recon sapira will find a mate in the dragon of the last egg

Now then. I read somewhere on a website, I think it was http://www.alagaesia.com, in a posted phone conversation between Christopher Paolini, Tamora Pierce, and some other author whose last name I think was Pullman, that CP might not kill galby. I can't remember if that's exactly what he said or not because that conversation was LONG and I read it through. That took a while. There's the link if you want to take a look. The conversation doesn't hold strickly to the top of Eragon though. There's something in it about all of the said author's books in there. You might get a little bored.

that could be but i think if eragon didnt kill him right away then saphira would do it because of what he did to the Dragons

I think that the person left on the beach was galby. I think that they took him somewhere where he couldn't hurt any more ppl. As for him crying, he was probably mourning the last dragon he just lost. ( Shruikan )

galby would probably be locked up or dead so it could be roran or mutagh

putting galby in a faraway land possibly on another continent would be just as good as locking him up + he would probably just escape from any prison

Yeah, in retrospect, I was wrong. He will probably destroy him on the spot. However, he has to leave Alagaesia, so won't he try to find dragons there?

Can someone write the excerpt on the dragons and the people? I lost my copy of Eragon, and I haven't bought a replacement left.
