Post Something unknown.
Keralin ran fast, he ran with speed that is usually beyond him. The underground corridor continued straight, the few corridors that stemmed to this one he had already explored and found nothing. Adrenaline pulsed through his veins and making his senses more acute and increasing his reaction speed. While the second part of this was wanted the first part wasn't as he could now sense the being chasing him. A steady breath in came from behind him, amplified by the narrowness of the corridor. Keralin recieved a new dose of adrenaline and fear forcing him to run faster. At last he saw his salvation, the door to the outside. He could see the light coming from the cracks around the metallic door, almost eager to swallow up the darkness behind him. He slid to a stop and opened the door quickly and waited for his eyes to adjust again. When he could see again his hopes shrunk again. An army of a hundred men with spears and swords surrounded the opening of the cave door with another two hundred archers aimed on his position. He lingered in the doorway for a moment considering that he might be safer with the horror that hunted him. He chose quickly and stepped into the light, slamming the door shut behind him and casting a quick spell.
"Let no being of any form cross this door." It was simple but the spell was taxing as the sublties of the spell wove itself. It would take the power of whoever was trying to push through to stop them from crossing the door. Keralin's legs gave out beneath him and he thought before passing out, No matter what, it must not escape.

The next thing Keralin knew was that he was his arms were chained to the wall and his legs to the floor. The room was dark with the only light coming through a very small slice in the wall. His stuff was gone, besides his clothes, and his mind felt slow and groggy. Magic inhibitors. He thought before his mind returened to the corridor and the complete numbing terror that had consumed him just moments before. How I wish Aelir was here to help me. He regretted that he had told him to stay behind for a few days, but he was also glad Aelir was not there to witness him in fear.

Post Re: Something unknown.
Zeta walked around the long tunnels, wondering who had made them and for what. He wandered aimlessly, sometimes thinking and sometimes not. Soon, he realized there was a small door to his right. Cautiously, he opened it. Inside there were two shelves filled with bottles of many different, strange looking liquids. They had labels on them, but they were in a strange language that he did not understand. His curiosity arose. There was something strange about this place, and it had a purpose, otherwise it would not be so well hidden. He had found these tunnels by accident. There was another door at the end of the room and he slowly opened it. Everything before had been dark, but Zeta thought that this one was slightly darker. There was only a small slit of light coming through a crack in the wall. His eyes adjusted to the darkness soon, and he saw someone chained to the wall. He approached him curiously. "Need some help?" he asked the slumped figure.

As hard as Keralin tried he couldn't rid the thoughts of the previous few hours, or was it days? He had no idea how long he was out when the soldiers took him. He had tried to order his thoughts accordingly but every time he failed, the emotions of terror still fresh within his mind. When the door opened Keralin expected the worst, a contingent to torture him for his failure.
"Need some help?" Came the person's voice.
Keralin had no idea that it was Zeta in the darkness and so his mind reverted to something simpler to make a magician's time harder to learn his secrets.
"Bah, your sense of pity will not make me react any different. I will not apologize for my failu..r..e..." Keralin watched the man's posture, it was much different from that of a torturer. "Who are you?" He asked.

Zeta cast a yellow werelight to light up the room. In the light he saw an elf. At first he did not recognize him, but then he remembered he had heard and seen someone like this by the name of Keralin. He did not reply for a moment then said, "My name is Zeta. What are you doing here?" he asked. "And why are chained to the wall?" Without waiting for a response, he said, "Jierda." The chains broke in half, releasing Keralin. Before Keralin responded, Zeta thought he heard something walking in the distance. It seemed too big to be a person though. He increased his hearing with magic. He heard a beast like figure crashing through the tunnels. What is that? he wondered.

"Failure." Keralin said back, not paying attention to the steps of some beast in another room. He rubbed his wrists where they were chained before. "I was supposed to slay some beast in the caverns hidden below this place. What I saw though..." Keralin's muscles tensed and his teeth clenched involuntarily with remembered fear. He continued on a few seconds after, "I saw... I saw... Something. I don't know really. All I knew was it wanted my flesh, it wanted my energy, it wanted everything that I was. This wasn't like my shade Nilarek though, it was worse..." His voice quivered at the end, but he rightened himself quickly afterwards. "It doesn't matter anymore though, I put in place a seal on the entrance to that foul place to which none can enter or exit. I will have to search to make sure there isn't another entrance though, I have no idea how extensive those tunnels were."
Keralin pushed himself off the ground, using the wall to stable himself, and stood on unsteady legs. How much energy did that spell take? He wondered. "I'm not at my best, I think they gave me a few magic inhibiting drugs. It will take me time to recover." After those few seconds he could stand well enough, and tried to walk to the other sied of the room. He was able to do it well enough, however awkward it was.

Zeta listened. He didn't usually hear people speak like Keralin had. There was something strange about the story as well... or, more like it, something strange about the situation, about the beast. "Why were you supposed to kill a beast?" he asked, trying to gain more understanding. He walked to the other room were the potions were again, looking at every bottle more carefully, but still listening to Keralin. He grabbed a vial of a bright green liquid and removed the cap. As soon as the air touched the liquid, it started to glow purple. Zeta set it down, wondering what it was. He tipped it over with his foot and as the liquid spilled to the floor it melted the floor. He heard the beast roar in rage in the distance and a small, barely audible voice laugh, right in his ear. When he turned around, however, there was no one there. Zeta shivered. What is this place...? he wondered.

Post Re: Something unknown.
Keralin shook his head, trying to clear it of the fuzziness. It didn't help. The words from Zeta seemed to be slightly muffled which made them hard to understand. "It might not be a beast," Keralin said, "I had heard of this place in wispers and how those who entered never left. I wanted to make sure the rumors were false so that I wouldn't have to worry so much when Hayren came of age." Keralin forced a small laugh, "Never thought that it could be dangerous for me as well." As Keralin looked at the walls they seemed to close around him, almost enclosing him within a small container. Keralin closed his eyes and shook his head again, when he looked again the walls looked the same as they had before but they also seemed to watch him as well. His pulse raced and he felt glimmer of fear again. Am I imagining this or is this actually happening? He began to question. One way to find out. Keralin open his mind to the surrounding area, and towards Aelir. What he felt was nothing, no organisms that lived within the walls, no life aside from Zeta. He couldn't even feel the attachment that connected him to Aelir. Keralin panicked then as he couldn't feel Aelir anywhere, nor even feel the link that said to him that he was alright. His mind raced with everything that could have interrupted his connection, but his mind kept returning to the one that he feared the most. Aelir was dead. No, I'm overreacting. He thought to himself. "It's nothing." He said in an undertone to himself, just to hear his own voice. "Once I'm out of this place I will be able to feel him." He said to reassure himself.

Zeta only mumbled to himself. "Hmm..." Then he sensed Keralin's despair and said, "Is that blue dragon yours? I think I saw one around this place. He looked kind of worried." Zeta picked up a glass of the vial touched the melted rock. It seemed as nothing more than what it was. Out of the corner of his eye he saw something move. He looked around, but there was nothing there, and there seemed to be no life aside of Keralin's. The place seemed so alive, but it felt very dead. Like a tomb. He shivered again.

"Thanks, I needed that." Keralin said, heartened in the knowledge that Aelir was still out there. He looked at the bottles that Zeta was inspecting and wondered which one was used to inhibit his magical ability. There was one bottle that caught Keralin's attention, one that used to have a label but it had worn off. He took it carefullly off the shelf and opened the bottle, smelling the liquid. It stung his nostrils but reminded him of something else. Sethir oil. He realised. He screwed the lid back on and held onto the bottle. It might prove a good distraction if nothing else. At precisely that moment Keralin heard a sound behind him, of padded footsteps from sandals. Keralin turned to the entrance of this room and reached for his sword, when he felt nothing he remembered that his weapons had been removed. When the robed figure of a human rounded the corner, an array of torture tools wrapped in a pouch in his hands, he took one look at Keralin and started to pull tools from his pouch. Keralin hurled the bottle of Sethir Oil at the man, which hit the man and shattered, spraying the liquid over him. Immediately the smell of burning flesh reached his nostrils and the man screamed in agony. He clawed at his skin trying desperately to wipe off the oil. He trashed about until his final breath had been spent. He lay in the pool, slowly eroding. Keralin shuddered and said to Zeta, "Come on, let's find my weapons and get the hell out of here." Keralin walked out of the room being careful not to step in any of the Sethir oil.

OOC: Was it 'Sethir' or 'Seithr'? I have no idea.

OOC- lol, it was Seithr, I'm pretty sure.

IC- Zeta whipped around and drew his sword as a man walked towards them, but relaxed a little as the man died with the Seithr oil. "Maybe you shouldn't have been so fast with that, he might have known how to get out or something," he said, then followed Keralin as he stepped through the door. The werelight followed them, lighting the halls that would have otherwise been too dark to see. The silence was deadening. Then he heard the sound of the beast crashing through the halls once more, a lot closer this time. He started to feel a little desperate as they rounded another corner with nothing different to be seen. "It feels like we're going around in circles," he muttered. Then the werelight shone on something that hung from a wall. It seemed to be an extremely ancient map. There were hundreds of thin lines which he guessed to be the halls, but he had no idea where they were. He tried to see where the exit was, but the map was intricate and hard to understand, plus there were a lot of faded parts. He sighed.

"I'm sorry, this place has me jumping at my own shadow. The sooner we are out of here, the better I'll feel." Keralin said, ashamed that he didn't think the situation through. "It feels like the entire place is trying to scare me out of my wits... And that sentence makes no sense even to me." Keralin gripped his hair his one hand and then let it run through his fingers whist sighing heavily. "It's strange, just when I thought I had found a weapon I was forced to use it immediately. Not to mention I couldn't sense that man's consciousness. In fact," Keralin continued completely confused, "I'm surprised that there aren't guards around the prisoner chamber. The lack of light is also strange." Opening a door, Keralin spotted what looked to be the armory. He walked in cautiously, but when nothing appeared to him he relaxed a little. He ran his eyes over each weapon searching for his own. He sighed in dissapointment when he couldn't find them. He picked up a standard sword and held onto it. "It'll have to do until I find my own weapons." He said. The soft patter of feet with sandals reached his ears again, Keralin threw himself against the wall next to the door and hoped fervently that he would be able to hold onto this weapon.

Zeta nodded. He understood, for he felt the strange sense of fear himself. It was strange. In this state, Keralin seemed a lot more vulnerable than he had seen anyone in a long time. It reminded him of a little kid for some reason. He saw Keralin look for his weapons, watching apprehensively. But then again, he would be apprehensive all the time in this state. He heard the footsteps as well and pressed his back against the wall next to Keralin, silently drawing his sword and waiting to see what would happen.

The patter of footsteps came closer and closer, making Keralin a little nervous. The padded footsteps then faded off into the distance until nothing could be heard. Wait, if he came this way why didn't I see any light? What the heck is this place? He decided to mention it to Zeta, "Did you notice any light coming from that one? Or was he walking in darkness?"

Zeta shook his head. "Maybe they can see in here somehow, but I didn't see any light," he said. He slowly crept out to the hall and looked both ways, but dindn't see or hear anything. As he was about to turn around, somebody punched him in the middle of his face hard, making his nose bleed. He quickly stood up and readied himself, but again, there was no one there. He wiped his nose and walked back to Keralin, starting to feel truly afraid now. "Did you see anybody?" he asked.

"No, I didn't see anything." Keralin said, watching the corridors. His mind running too slow to make anything from this mess, Keralin walked into the corridor again hoping to find some sort of torch until his magical ability returned to him. A sense of dread entered him then, the dread he had felt just hours ago. He tried desperately to reach his magic, the flow within his mind being extremely hard to grasp. Panic forced his mind into a sharp instrument and allowed him to access the magic that was available to him.
Light my path! He cast the spell, flooding the entire corridor with light. Unfortunately in his present state he wasn't able to hold onto the light for too long before losing the control he had. The flash of light though illuminated the corridor and the now red stains that covered the walls, so much blood that it looked like someone had slain several soldiers and dragged their bodies along the walls. Not to mention the thing that stood in the middle of the corridor. If Keralin didn't know otherwise he would have called it a Ra'zac, unfortunately the light didn't last long enough for Keralin to identify the creature before it ran screaming off back into the corridor on what sounded like four feet.
"Oh great prophet!" Keralin said, using the curse of a land long dead, "Save me from this beast."

Zeta looked at the creature that stood in the middle of the blood spattered walls. It resembled a Ra'zac slightly, but he thought it looked slightly different. He couldn not tell for sure though, since the light had died so quickly. He was about to cast a spell that would light the way once more, but as he started to mutter the words something was stuffed down his mouth and he felt groggy for a few moments before regaining his normal state of thought. Frightened, he tried to do magic once more, but he realized that he couldn't. He reached for his sword instinctively. If they tried to take his weapon from him as well, they would have to prise it out of his hands. He started to move forward again. "Come on, let's keep moving," he said.

Keralin stood still for a moment, sword outstretched and both hands clenched around it so hard his knuckles went white. He used a few breathing exercises to calm himself and slowly his muscles relaxed enough to move them. "Yes..." He answered Zeta in a shaky voice. "Let's move." His hand slipped upon a torch then, as well as some flint. If he had been more attentive he would have questioned the sudden appearance, but in his fear he was just glad to have something to light the way. He lit the torch and made sure the flame was bright enough to light the way clearly. He walked on slowly, frequently looking behind him to make sure nothing was following them. Did the others that came here die with this fear? He wondered, gloomy thoughts poisoning his mind. They passed many other corridors but kept going straight for Keralin knew that they would eventually come to a wall or corner and from there they could find their way out of this maze.

Keralin saw a door on the left of them and hoping to find something noticable he went inside. As soon as he saw inside the room he fell to his knees, hopelessness spreading to each fibre of his body.
"It's no use." Keralin said. "We can't escape."
The room that he was looking in, had a row of bottles lined on the wall and within a second room and had chains hanging from the wall. The room he woke up in.

Zeta looked inside the room and felt his own hopes of escaping start to wither away. How could they escape a maze in which they could barely see in? He was starting to become confused as well. How had they come back here? They had never gone back the same way, so unless they had turned in a full circle it would be impossible for them to have ended up back here, and he did not think they had... but moment by moment, common sense started to leave him as well, and only dread filled him. Keralin was right. Whether this was the same room or simply one that looked like it, how could they hope to escape? He grappled with his mind for a moment, for something in the back of his mind told him to keep on going, but the fear that the place instilled inside him was great. Soon he would succumb to hopelessness, as the dark walls seemed to throw themselves upon him, compressing him inside, feeding of his fear and despair... unless he fought it, of course. But there did not seem to be any reason worth fighting for. "Keralin," he muttered. "You really think that... this is the end?" he asked weakly, childishly.

Keralin wanted to give in to the mad thoughts threatening his sanity, to the frame of mind which would take him away from the horror of this place but something was holding him back. "Why do I hold onto it? Why hold onto hope when there isn't any?" He muttered to himself but also to Zeta. "Why..."
Because there is hope. A voice came into his mind. Until I'm dead there is always hope.
Keralin remembered his words from years ago when his will wavered like it was now. He pulled himself up from the ground and faced Zeta, his face taking the shape of one who has stared death in the eye and forced it to turn away.
"No, this is not the end." He said in a firm voice, all traces of fear removed. "This is just another test of our determination and I will not bow to it." He held his hand to Zeta. "This place is refecting our fear of it and I will not let it have the satisfaction of seeing me run anymore." The walls loomed menacingly around him, almost as if they were taking a stand to his courage. "This isn't the room I woke in for there would be a puddle of goo where I am standing now from that man I killed with the Seithr oil."

Zeta was slightly confused as to how Keralin had suddenly managed to get his courage back, but he did not dwell on it. It gave him hope. He took his hand and steading himself up to the ground, the chill that had been upon him leaving his body as he felt a strong determination to thwart the place. "Yes, I had thought so..." Zeta said when Keralin said it was not the same room they had started out in. He started to walk away from it.

Post Re: Something unknown.
Keralin walked with confidence, or at least what he thought was confidence. As he walked he remembered something he had not previously. As he was being dragged from the doorway he saw a soldier touch the door and attempt to open it. He struggled against the door and just before he was out of sight he saw the soldier cast a spell against it.
I didn't protect it against spells, but those who would have tried to move the door pieces would have died.
"Zeta, I think I know where we are." Keralin said, reaching out his hand to the wall. "If I'm right, then this will cause something else to cause us fear. If I'm wrong then we aren't where I think we are." Keralin touched the wall and immediately the walls lit up with symbols and glyphs emmiting their own light. The language was incomprehensible save for a few words in the ancient language which made no sense alone or together. There escaped a howl from several different sources, all of which sounded human... Or at least human-like. As Keralin removed his hand the light went out and the howls ceased.
"Yes, I am right. This is a dungeon meant to keep the prisoner in their cell by making them think that there is the only safe place for them. Unfortunately for us that also means that there may be illusions to be careful of."

Zeta felt slightly uncomfortable, but at least he wasn't feeling weak and vulnerable. He did not want to evade hallucinations, but they were already stuck in a big mess, so he guessed it didn't matter much. "How do you know this? Could you navigate around this area and know where we are, or how we can get out?" he asked. He tried to remember for the first time where he had gone in through, so he could try to retrace his steps, but it was impossible. The tunnels had been so intricate and dark that he couldn not remember how to find a way outside of it. He turned around and to his horror saw that a giant, black creatuere was thundering towards them. It was larger than a human, and wider. It had a fairly humanoid shape, but its details such as skin color and facial looks were completely different. He wondered if it was a hallucination or not. He drew his sword and waited for it to come to them.

Keralin was about to answer Zeta when the monstrosity came at them, it's form severely twisted. He brandished his sword and nearly dropped it, unfamiliar with the shape of the sword he had found. Keep it simple. He told himself before rushing the creature. The creature swung it's arm and opened it's hand revealing sharpened nails that looked they had seen blood recently. Keralin ducked underneath the attack and rammed the hilt of his sword into the creature's gut, then spun around and rent the creature's arm. A quick with to the creature's chest pushed Keralin away to a safe distance and ready for a second attack. The creature's arm hung uselessly beside it and it roared loudly in pain and anger. Keralin looked for discrepancies then, hoping to find something that didn't fit with the picture. There was blood dripping from it's arm and it's eyes stared directly at them. "This just might be real." Keralin said. "Whether it's real or not it doesn't matter at the moment, we have to kill it." Keralin's handle on his sword wavered, the uneven weight making it hard to wield.

Zeta looked at it rather dazed at Keralin attacked it, wondering if it was real, but when Keralin spoke he snapped back to reality and pounced on it, sword drawn. It swung its arm at him and he twisted in midair, landed on the ground, then slashed his sword upwards at it. It severed half of it off, the flesh being a lot tougher than he had expected. It roared in pain and opened its mouth. Green, bright acid erupted from it. Zeta rolled to the side, just avoiding it as it sizzled against the wall, then stabbed the monster in its chest. It stumbled back, growling, but did not back down or show any less ferocity.

Post Re: Something unknown.
Keralin knew that this fight would be tough normally but without his weapons it could very well be impossible. Curse this sword and it's cheap maker. He thought as he went in for a second attack. He drew his blade up then brought it down hard on the creatures skull, hoping to cleave it in two. The sword hit the creature's head but rebounded off and slammed into the floor, shattering the blade. A few pieces of blade flew through the air and buried themselves in Keralin's skin. I can't beat this thing now, where are my blades!? He thought in panic as he searched for another weapon with the shards of blade tearing his insides.

Aelir felt the pain erupt within Keralin's body as well as within his own. That's it I will not wait any longer. He said in defiance. He was told to wait until Keralin returned but now that Keralin was being hurt from the inside he knew he had to do something. He was about to take off when he smelt a familiar scent on the air. Who is that? He thought as he searched the sky and ground.

OOC: Ooh, something's going to be revealed, exciting! :D Heheh, finally, some action for Phal! :D

IC: Phal smiled at herself, amused at how easily she always seemed to find the sources of trouble she had sensed. She was getting better at finding dangers in Alagaesia and working to quell them. I'm a regular Faefnir, she thought, laughing. She soon caught the scent of Aelir nearby. However, she had seen him before she smelled him, and wasn't very happy with that fact. Phal's sense of smell was very lacking, since she relied so much on her powers to sense things from a long distance. She sighed, nothing she could do about that now.

Hello, Aelir. What's going on? she called as she descended towards the blue dragon. She wondered immediately where Keralin was, and knew that something was amiss. Aelir seemed to be getting frantic, and she suspected it had to do with his rider. She pulled in next to him and hovered, her large wings beating steadily in circular motions.

OOC- sorry that I haven't posted, my computer's monitor is being wack :? ... lol

IC- Zeta launched three lightning bolts at it, jumping to the side as more acid burst forth. As he did so, however, the monster slapped him against a wall with its arm and held him there. Zeta tried to break free, but couldn't. The monster was too strong. His heart started pumping faster. This was it. He was going to die. He had not had his revenge on his brother. And it was that, the thought of his brother, that let his fury lose. Not caring about how much energy it would cost him, he launched out electrical currents out of every pore of his body. They ran up the creature's arm and spread throughout its whole body, shocking it for a full minute. It seemed about to drop down for a moment, but then it regained its balanced and attacked again, looking dazed but furious. Zeta hoped it had caused some damage, because he felt completely drained of energy. His muscles were heavy as he raised his sword.

Post Re: Something unknown.
The pain that the fragments were sending Keralin gave him an idea. He had no idea if the drug had worn off yet, but he felt it would have by the amount of adrenaline pumping through his body.
Knifr Risa! He cast. The small blade pieces rose uneasily from the ground but once they were up Keralin had no trouble manipulating them. The blade fragments were still sharp and the fragmentation had made even more edges to the blade. Keralin felt the drain on his low reserves of energy,
Better make this quick. He thought before sending the fragments on their way towards the beast. When Zeta shocked the beast away from him, Keralin knew his good luck was kicking in again for he had a smaller chance of hitting Zeta. All the fragments struck the beast and travelled through it, shredding the beast's insides. He made the fragments circle within the beast, turning whatever was inside into pulp. The howls of the beast were silenced by the amount of blood pouring from it's mouth as it's lungs were also torn asunder. When the beast finally fell to the floor Keralin ended the spell, leaving the remains of the sword within the beast. He swayed heavily, almost caught himself then fell over on the floor feeling horrible. "I think I overdid it..." He said, nearly falling unconscious. He was happy with his victory but knew it wouldn't last. Whatever that was, it wasn't what I was running from before.

Aelir said back with anxiousness, I'm not sure, Keralin told me to wait until he was done with the humans down there. There was some spell that he had heard about that lay here, taking all who entered it and he wanted to make sure that it was gone before Hayren and Taliear came of age. His eyes unfocused then, thinking upon the memory of his children. When he came back to reality his voice became greatly concerned. Now, I fear that Keralin is in serious danger. I can feel him in pain. Aelir took off then, hovering in the air. If you want you can come but I will not stay here any longer. He waited a moment for a reply.

Phalynx listened carefully to what Aelir said, understanding Kernalin's need to protect their children. But perhaps he had overstimated his abilities going into this. And they certainly couldn't wait around any longer if Aelir sensed Keralin in danger.

Phal nodded. Let's go then! If Keralin's in danger then we should of course help him, she said eagerly, pulling in behind Aelir to allow him to lead the way. Why did he want you to stay outside? she asked him, wondering why Keralin would not bring his dragon to help.

Zeta stepped back a little as the shards pierced the beast and eventually killed it, then crouched down and tried to regain his breath on his knees. He felt extremely tired, and he was not sure there was much he could do about it in a place like this. It made him feel slightly vulnerable. He looked at Keralin, who seemed even more drained, but his own tiredness kept him from thinking of a solution.

Post Re: Something unknown.
"At least I have my magic back." Keralin said with a smile on his face. He was starting to feel a little better but he still was unarmed which made him a little nervous. As he stared at the ceiling from his back he noticed something he had not before, something that did not belong. When he focused harder he finally know what it was he was looking at. He lifted his hand to point at the object hanging from the ceiling, a stone protruding from the roof that didn't fit with the pattern the rest of the roof was made from. In fact it seemed to be hanging through the ceiling, then the realisation hit him like a splash of water. "It's an illusion! This whole place is an illusion!"

Aelir flew hard and thought about Phalynx's question, Keralin said the inhabitants weren't fan's of dragons and might not accept his presence. Thinking on it again he noticed a curious tone to his voice, almost as if...
He wanted to keep me safe, he knew this place was dangerous and he didn't want me hurt. He projected his thoughts to Phalynx and searched the ground for his rider. That was when he realised he could barely sense his rider anymore and the connection wasn't getting any better the closer he flew.
I can't sense him, I can't sense anyone down there! Where is he?! His head jerked around the plains and he ended up doing a full circle before continuing on, everything looked the same though he knew that he was in the area that Keralin had entered.

Phal was concerned, but not surprised, at what Aelir projected at her. Hm. Knew it must be something like that, she thought to herself. She stayed behind and slightly above Aelir as he circled around, looking for a way to enter. Phal decided to help out. She used her sight to examine the area.

Phal reeled backwards as if hit by a rock, crying out. Her head pounded. When she had looked with her magic vision, the tangle of magic had been so jumbled and confused that it had literally hurt to look at, and it was all around them, swirling and convulsing and almost attacking them. Ow... she said, rubbing her head on a foreclaw.

Keralin answered slowly, "If we are then I couldn't say, that's the problem with illusions. You may know they're fake but you still can't know where you are." Keralin then had a thought. "Wait a minute." He got up to his feet and felt down his sides, running his hand across the space where his sword would be. He knew the illusion wouldn't alow him to feel it but it wouldn't stop the fact that something was there. He found his hand jammed between his hip and something on the outside of it. When he tried to push further down his hand wouldn't move. He laughed at the irony. "Well, for one thing we don't have to look for my swords anymore. I've had them all the time, but that's not the only good news. Since they aren't a part of the illusion they won't be affected by the illusion, which means that they'll only hit something that is real." Keralin shifted his position and closed his eyes. He measured out his feet and put his hands to his chest, thumbs at the shoulders and middle finger in the center of his chest. Using a measured movement, Keralin shifted his hands to where his swords would be and grasped them. Although his hands seemed to be empty they were still grasping something unseen.
"Sometimes, when I do that, I can almost feel the swords as if they were part of my body. I'll not lose these again." He drew the swords and made a horizontal circle around him. Immediately they encountered resistance, bouncing off a wall though not the wall they were seeing. He made the same circle vertically, seeming to trace everything around him. When he opened his eyes he said calmly, "It's a cave. We're inside a cave."

Aelir looked at Phalynx as she cried out, when she rubbed her face with her claw Aelir asked, "What wrong? What did you see?"

Phal shook her head, clearing it. Ugh. The magic of that place is all tangled and knotted up. It hurts to look at, she said, answering Aelir. She hovered more calmly now, her headache dissipating. I'll try again, but this time with a little more reserve, she said, laughing at herself. She realized that she had opened herself up to the sight far too quickly. This could be an important lesson for later use.

Phal slowly and gradually began to examine the area again with her magic vision. This time, the appearing shapes seemed to have more order, though it was strange how much they contrasted with the actual land. Phal concentrated, looking for anything of interest.

Zeta let out a deep breath. He felt slightly more free now that he knew more of what was going on, like the tunnels had opened up to reveal a beatiful landscape bathed in sunlight. "Good. Do you think you could lead us out of here now?" he asked.

"Maybe, the unfortunate part about illusions is that although you may know its an illusion it still clouds your vision. We need to find what is casting the spell and how to destroy it. If it's a person then we might get away with 'adjusting' his ways." He hated the sounds of the words but he knew he would see his son again no matter the cost. "I can trace the walls with my blades and hope that I can find a way out where we cannot see but that does not help anyway. This," Keralin hit the wall with his fist, "is one of the most complex illusions I have ever faced. It feels real enough that I cannot move through it even if I wanted."
Not to mention that I can't feel any magic outside of it. He thought to himself, not wanting to be rid of all hope. What, in the name of the great dragon, are we supposed to do?

Really? Aelir said, having an idea of his own. Then hold still, I'll show Keralin the way home. He breathed in an immense breath, as large as he could manage and breathed fire at the ground, roaring as loud as he could at the same time. He hoped Keralin would hear him or at least feel the heat of his flame.

Keralin could feel a pressure build in his hears, something loud yet not unpleasant. At least, that what he would have said if he could hear anything outside of the walls. The buildup of heat was so slight that Keralin almost missed it. "Zeta, was it day or night when you came here?" Keralin asked.

Phal watched Aelir curiously as he told her to stay still. She hovered silently in the air, beating her wings in a continuous rythem. She noted Aelir's attempt at communication with interest. I hope that works, she said, Hopefully if Keralin senses any of that, he'll know it's you.

Phal continued to look at the strange place. As she looked closer, she noticed that the magic seemed to have an organized shape completely juxtaposing the real structures. It seemed that there was an extensive illusion at work. Phal concentrated harder, her eyes straining. She would need all of her concentration if she wanted to crack this magical code. It was an interesting challenge. Even if Aelir did succeed in bringing Keralin out, Phal wanted to try to see this place as it truly was.

Phalynx noticed an orange-ish glow, appearing and blinking out almost too fast for her to see. Was that him? she wondered, moving around a little to try to see it again.

Keralin sighed a deafeated sigh, "I don't think that would be an illusion. I could feel a little more heat than usual, but if what you said was true then it would be daybreak at this time." Keralin walked forwards, dragging his swords on either side of the walls around him. His touch became so sensitive that he could feel every nook in the walls around him, the swords almost becoming a part of his arms. He lost concentration on the illusion to give himself to the reality of his extended arms. It was a shock to him to discover than suddenly he could not feel the walls anymore. He stopped immediately and retraced his steps. He could feel the walls when he went back but ahead he could feel nothing. "Zeta, we're either outside or in a cavern. I can't tell with the use of my swords." He opened his eyes and put away his swords without even thinking about it, like so many times before. There was indeed a room, something different to the endless corridor that was his world before. After he got no response from Zeta he turned to face him, "Zeta?" He saw solid wall behind him. He put out his hand to touch the wall expecting it to pass right through. When he touched wall he tried another approach, he shouted at the wall hoping to get through to Zeta.
"Zeta! It's not real, know in your mind it isn't real!" He only knew how he had passed through the wall and not how anyone else could.

Aelir ran out of breath for the third time and gave up as he could no longer sustain the flame for so long. Please tell me you have an idea of how to find him. He pleaded with Phalynx. I'm out of ideas. He was ashamed to say.

Phalynx thought as she continued to examine the construction. I do have an idea, but it will take a little more time, and great concentration. There is a heavy illusion cast over this entire place, and I'm trying to see the entire illusion and the real things. It'll take a while before I can completely make sense of everything and then find a way in and out, she said.

Phal scoured the land, sorting out all of the magic swirling chaotically about into some kind of pattern, and then examining the real land beneath it. Slowly, shapes, halls, and doors began to form. The details were coming in fuzzy, but they were coming in. Phal then looked at the real caves and tunnels, looking for a way to enter. I have to sort out this environment before I can look for Keralin. Just a little more, and we'll have an entrance point, she said.

Phal concentrated with all her strength. She needed to keep the entire illusion, as well as the layout of the real tunnels, stored in her mind. Eventually, she began to see the smaller shapes, such as shelves and tables, and then even smaller objects took form. Alright, I can see the illusion completely. Now I need to find a way to actually get inside. Hopefully there'll be one big enough for us, she noted to Aelir. She was getting close, but she still needed to find an entrance!

Zeta looked down at the ground. He hated knowing that it was not real. It made him feel strangely suffocated, compressed. Then, when he looked up, there was no one in front of him. He looked around but could not see Keralin. "Keralin!" he shouted. "Where are you?" No response. He kept on walking straight foward, keeping in mind that everything he saw was not real. He was not sure what this would lead to, but he just walked.

Keralin had to jump back as Zeta came through the seemingly solid wall, but once he was all the way through he sighed relief.
"Good, we may just be on our way out of nowhere." Keralin said, studying the room. As he looked he suddenly felt fear, the fear that had come from his first encounter.
"Zeta, do you pray?" He asked. "I do, in my own way. I have survived situations which should have killed me a long time ago." He looked at Zeta, "I don't feel the same as I did then."

Phalynx had finally sorted out the illusion, down to the smallest detail, and the real catacombs. She could see everything in her mind's eye; a map of the place. She searched for a way in, and saw several, but they were all much to miniscule.

Phalynx saw a larger opening, and flapped slowly towards it. This is it, Aelir. This part of the hill is an illusion. Once we walk in, we'll be inside, Phal said. She landed upon the ground and began to approach the entrance.

When we're in there, you'll have to deal with any enemies alone so that I can keep the image of the place in my mind. I'll look for Keralin and I'll say when something is an illusion, Phal said, nodding for Aelir to enter the not-really-there hill.

Zeta shook his head. "No, not really. I don't pray. And I'm not sure I understand what you mean. You survived things because you pray, or you pray because you survived things?" he asked.

"I pray because in every situation where I was supposed to die, I survived. As for what I mean, in those situations I felt the presence of another, a..." Keralin suddenly realised what he was saying. "I must sound crazy, although there is something I would like to say to you." He faced Zeta, his face calm and reflecting nothing. "It feels like it did then, something bad is going to happen."

Aelir listened to Phalynx and did as she said, slowly approaching the there-but-not-there hill. The illusion covering his eyes filled his vision and for a moment he though the couldn't do it. Memories of Keralin filled his mind then and Aelir knew that he had to do it, for him. Aelir took a deep breath and charged at the wall, even if it was real he would have smashed right through. When he was through though what he saw was completely different to what he had expected, although he couldn't really say what he was expecting he could say that it wasn't this. Before him he saw a large cleft, a rend in the earth where, when he looked down, he saw nothing but the darkness beneath. When he looked up the amount of clouds overhead seemed completely unnatural as if they were trying to block out the sun. He could feel magic permeate the air around him, twisting to the whims of something forgotten. Or at least something that should have been forgotten.
Phalynx, something feels wrong here. Where are we? He asked, curiosity and fear tinged in his voice.

Phalynx calmly walked into the hillside. It was easier for her than for Aelir, for she could see where the illusion was and knew what was really there. She entered beside Aelir, somewhat slowly as she concentrated. Her eyes were glowing steadily with gold light. As soon as she entered she felt the magic shift angrily, as if it did not want them to be there.

We're in the catacombs under the real hillside. Most of this hallway itself is real, except for the things in it. There may be enemies around the next corner there, but its hard for me to keep track of the moving things. Just be cautious, she said to Aelir, moving ahead a short distance and gazing around. Everything was very odd-looking, and either not real and slight transparent or real and all the way there, but it was still possible to look through the solid things as well. Phal had to focus with all of her strength to keep her power in check so that everything didn't just turn transparent. Then it would be too hard to distinguish between real and unreal.

This place doesn't seem to like us. The magic is dark and angry around us, but the further it is from us, the calmer it is. Maybe that has something to do with why Keralin didn't want you to come here, Phal noted, sensing the hostile environment. We should probably keep moving, she said. She sensed that if they stayed in one place too long, the magic might actually grow harmful. She began walking carefully, making sure that there were no unreal walls or obstacles that would confuse Aelir.

"I see," Zeta said. "Still, my gut has usually been able to tell me when something bad will happen. And right now, things feel omnious." Zeta felt almost as if he was in some haunted tomb. He shivered, then started to move forward once more. "Maybe we should keep moving. I don't want to be in this place forever." He started walking forward, bracing himself in case the walls he walked through were real.

"Agreed" Keralin said but truth was, he didn't know which way to walk as he couldn't make heads or tails of this room. It seemed to have no entries and no exits. It was covered in cusions which means that it was some sort of Harem. Keralin had no idea why humans were like that but he disregarded it quickly as he searched for a way out. Windows. He thought. There were plenty of windows around so Keralin decided to break one. He searched the room for something heavy and found it almost imediately, a golden statue would be perfect he thought. He picked up the statue which seemed to be a figure of a goddess, barely clothed and holding one hand next to her heart.
"Whoever's god this is, I'm sorry." He said to himself before lobbing the statue as hard as he could. He statue hit the window and cracked it before falling to the ground again. The cracked window creaked and moaned for a few good seconds, making Keralin anxious. The glass broke then, shattering into a thousand tiny pieces. Along with that there came a gush of extremely hot wind, making the room several degrees higher, with sand blowing in as well. "I think that was a bad idea." Keralin said, protecting his eyes from the grains of sand that were flying through the room.

Aelir trusted Phalynx to lead them in the right direction, in fact he was certain that she was the only one that could. I agree with you, something doesn't want us here. He said. He reached out for Keralin in all directions and although he couldn't sense him he had a feeling that he was closer than he thought.

Phal nodded and crept forward, peering around with caution. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary yet (other than the constant streams of magic flowing menacingly around them) so Phal wasn't worried. She moved through another fake wall and then around a real corner before stopping again.

Alright, I'm going to look for Keralin, she told Aelir. Phalynx concentrated with all her strength as she turned on her infrared light vision, and examined their surroundings meticulously. Finally, she saw two small shapes that looked somewhat elf-like. Hmm. There are two elf-shaped forms. One's probably Keralin, unless he's too far away to see. I have no idea who the other one is, though, she remarked.

Phalynx started off down the hallway, heading towards the infrared signatures.

Zeta covered his face as the glass broke and the hot wind rushed in. He coughed once, then uncovered his face again. He was starting to feel a little useless. "Maybe, but we should be able to climb out, now," he said. He felt around the wall for the window and carefully climbed through it. He stepped into thin air for a few moments, and he wildly flung his hands around until he caught hold of what seemed to be the branch of a tree. He climbed his way up the branch until he reached the trunk, then sat on it and looked up. It seemed as if he had fallen in a deep hole inside some dark, gloomy castle, but it seemed they were outside if there were trees around.

Keralin followed after Zeta and, after pausing at the window a moment to observe his surrounds, he jumped out after Zeta. Sand... Then trees? This place confused Keralin to no end, he even felt he might go insane trying to figure a way out. Although his skin did feel a little strange, as if a small film of something was covering them. Probably that send before. He thought to himself as he put the matter from his mind. He looked up with Zeta and tried to figure out where he was, there was light out but it was still dark. Keralin drew his sword subconsciously, as he had many times before, and tested the tree holding themselves up. Luckily for Keralin the tree was solid or he might have panicked. "One thing is for sure Zeta, this tree is real. I'm not to sure about the leaves though, they don't provide enough resistance."

Aelir heard Phal's voice and almost jumped with exitement at the news. He followed after her eagerly and almost bumped into her twice. I wouldn't know... Aelir said. I still can't feel him but with every step my nervousness is dissolving. We are definitely going the right way. At least that was what Aelir wanted to believe, he didn't dare admit to himself that it could very well be some other being trapped in this magical illusion.

Phalynx was amused at Aelir's overenthusiasm. She could definately tell how eager he was to be reunited with his rider. She was determined to get them together as soon as possible, but it could still take some time.

Phal turned another corner, and then saw something odd up ahead. She realized what it was and backed away, back around the corner. Aelir, there's something large moving up ahead. We're going to have to take a longer route unless you want to risk fighting it, she said, watching the thing carefully, making sure it couldn't sneak up on them.

Zeta sighed. Where the hell were they at now? What kind of place was this, and who had put up all these illusions? Was it someone they knew, and they had set up a trap for them? "Where should we go now?" he asked. "Down or farther along the corridor up there?"

Keralin looked both directions and tried to think it out rationally. The illusions were messing with their minds and through all of it they managed to get to a tree. A real tree. Now whether this tree was down the bottom of a pit or standing on top of a mountain they had only one option.
"Down we go." Keralin said. "We need to get to the ground because all we know is that trees cannot grow in a cave system. We have to be outside, it's the only place we can be." He climbed down the tree carefully, testing each branch before he put his entire weight on it. Finally he reached the bottom. He drew his swords then and tested the area around them, until he saw something that made his blood freeze within his veins. He could see his swords now, even the scabbards they dwelled in.
"These are of no more use to us." Keralin said, putting them away. He looked around and saw caves, caved out slightly as if they were quickly done to move materials from one end to another. He looked around and saw three, one behind him from where they came, one in front going away from where they were and one that spiraled downwards. "I say the one that goes away from where we were. What about you?"

Aelir looked at Phalynx with eyes that spoke louder than his words. If it gets in my way then I will make sure it suffers as much as I am right now. He sighed and forced himself to think rationally, If there's an easy of getting around it then use it, if not... His eyes said the final part of his sentance. He would go to any lengths for Keralin.

Phal admired the look of fierce determination in Aelir's eyes. She could see with that single look how strong the bond between him and Keralin was. There is, but we'll have to hurry if we want to get there before it and avoid confrontation. I think the less this place knows about us, the better. It already seems so hostile, she said in reply, Let's go this way, quickly.

Phalynx started off at a brisk trotting pace, her claws padding swiftly over the stone floor. Soon the side tunnel she had seen was adjacent to them. Alright, I know you can't see this tunnel, but just follow me exactly and you'll be fine. It's plenty big enough for you to fit, she said. She glanced around to make sure the thing was still far away, and then ducked into the hole. To Aelir or any normal observer, it wouldn't appear as if anything out of the ordinary existed on that wall, but she could tell that there was a secret tunnel there. She crept inside, looking over her shoulder to make sure Aelir was following the right way.

Zeta looked around at all the caves. "Yeah, it seems to make the most sense. Definitely not the one which we just came from though. Let's just hope we don't get too many more nasty surprises," he said. He tentatively started to walk towards the cave, looking around and feeling slightly disconcerted. "It almost seems satisfying to think that we got this far from where we started," he said.

Keralin walked down the corridor, making sure Zeta was following. "You make a good point, but the only thing is I fear is that we might be walking into some sort of trap that we might not be able to see." Keralin gripped his fists then relaxed them, "I'll fight anything as long as I can see it, but this is infuriating. I hate to think that I might-" He suddenly stopped talking as the ground suddenly shook a little, knocking him from his feet.

Aelir followed Phalynx as best as he could, he occasionally had to stop and remind himself that it was just an illusion but he was able to continue through hundreds of caves, spiked rooms and places of extreme comfort. That was until his foot struck something and he fell to the side of the real cave he was in. A tremor went through the cave and around the neighboring cave systems. The pain in his claw didn't hurt too much but it was his pride that hurt more. Would you mind telling me that was there next time? He asked.

Phal turned when she heard a few thumps. Oh! I'm sorry, Aelir! I'll have to be more attentive, I wasn't even thinking about it, I just stepped over it, she said apologetically, I'll be more careful, I promise! Phal gazed around, making sure nothing else was there that would trip up the blue dragon behind her. Suddenly, she felt a low tremor through the caves, and held still, a little nervous.

What could that have been? she wondered. Whatever it was, she couldn't see it. It was also very difficult to see far because she was concentrating on following the nearby paths to Keralin. This place is getting more dangerous by the second. If that continues, it could cause a cave-in, Phal said worriedly, Come, let us continue. There's nothing else you might trip over nearby, so don't worry.

"I don't know, but my skin just went cold." Keralin said. Although the temperature didn't change he did feel colder. Something had changed and he couldn't tell what. Another rumble went through the ground, lighter than the first but still violent enough that Keralin had trouble standing on his feet.

Aelir felt around with his feet since hitting the rock with his paw, even though Phalynx said she would alert him of any further hinderances. It was because of that that Aelir managed to feel the tremors in the ground. He noticed something else as well, something he could have missed had he not been careful. He said to Phal, Something made the ground shake, that wasn't natural. He looked around at his surroundings, although he saw only the illusion he felt conforted by the fact that nothing was around him. Suddenly, Aelir went cold. He shuddered slightly, even though he knew it wouldn't do him any good. Did you feel that? He asked.

Keralin then remembered, something he had wanted to put out of his mind. "It's back. The darkness that was chasing me before is back, that mindless horror!"

Post Re: Something unknown.
Phal stood perfectly still when the ground shook a little again, but she could still not see what was causing it. What could be doing that? she cried anxiously. But perhaps more importantly, was the thing doing it physically or magically? In either case it would have to be very powerful.

The silver dragoness suddenly felt her scales chill, and she turned around when Aelir spoke. All at once, she began backing up rapidly and bumped into a wall. Aelir! There's something wrong! It looks like dark magic, but a very weird kind of it! she warned, trying to get as far as possible from the wafting tendrils of evil energy. This dark magic seemed almost conscious, as if it was actively seeking to harm. It also seemed more... sneaky than usual, which was probably how it had gotten near them without Phal noticing.

We have to find Keralin, fast, and get out of here. Come on! she said urgently, and began to turn out of the room.

Zeta could not stop from looking around, despite the fact that he knew there was nothing there that he would be able to see with his eyes. It felt like some sort of evil menace was watching him from the back, and that it would spring up and stab him in the back at any moment. The temperature seemed to be plummeting as well.

Post Re: Something unknown.
OOC: Sorry about the wait, had to think about where exactly this was heading.

Keralin was almost paralyzed by the growing fear that had once encompassed him before. "Shall I show you the fear?" Came a strange voice and with that Keralin's nervousness disappeared. He turned to face Zeta, his eyes showing nothing but cool logic but also something far darker. "Yes, I think I will show you the fear." The voice came again, but it came from Keralin's mouth.
"Everyone has something that they fear above the rest, the real test is whether or not you will run from it." Keralin raised his swords, although it seemed forced and unwilling. The bottom of Keralin's jaw shivered slightly as though trying to move but forced not to.

Keralin had shrunk into himself when the fear consumed him, but it was then that his greatest fear became true. It wasn't something that could be fought, nor something that could reasoned with. It wasn't anything that came from this world or from any in the next, Keralin's greatest fear was that he would once again be used for evil. That his heart would be corrupted again and he would revel in the kill, in the slaughter. Now, his body was being used and he had no say about it. He wanted to stop, he wanted to yell for help but nothing came. He resorted to his last life-line, he screamed with his mind to any that might have been able to hear him. Help me!

Something awoke in Aelir then, something hidden but something ancient. The power of dragons. Aelir breathed in and touched his nose to the illusion, the magic flowed from him and the illusion around him shattered. It wasn't complete, it wasn't even large, just a small bubble around himself. But it did have one effect that he had hoped for, he was able to feel the thoughts of his rider and the emotions that ran through him at the instant. Be strong! He sent before the illusion crashed back upon him and he was alone again.
Phalynx, he's alive!! He said with utter ecstacy.

The spell of Aelir also had another knock on effect, the illusion around Keralin shattered for an instant. Showing Keralin as he grasped his head trying to rid the demons from his mind, bowed over in agony. The illusion of Keralin came back though, his swords gleaming in the faint torchlight.

Phalynx watched in awe as Aelir's ancestral power flared up for a moment, shattering the illusion around him for an instant. For a split second, she could see a brief connection of magic appear between Aelir and one of the shapes she could see in the distance, confirming that it was Keralin. However, the illusion fell back into place and the connection disappeared.

Let us go to him, then, Aelir! she cried in response. She began to run out of the room, leading Aelir towards his rider and hoping that they would get to him before anything bad happened.

Zeta looked at Keralin, not exactly sure what was going on with hinm. He drew his sword slowly and looked around. Then suddenly, for a small moment, the illusion shattered. He was able to see a figure darting behind a rock somewhere nearby, but he could not even tell if it was simply a figment of his imagination. Then the illusion was back and all he could see was a dark tunnel. He shot a bolt of lighting in the direction where the rock had been, then covered himself and Keralin. Sure enough, he felt the rocks colliding against his wards for a few moments. He felt something cold against his neck suddenly, and realized it was a sword. It cut him slightly, then slashed at his arms and legs. A small, haunting whisper passed through his ears, then was gone. Zeta could hear the footsteps though, and he ran towards them. He shot multiple balls of energy towards the sound, but then he heard a small disturbance in the air above him. He quickly rolled to the side and felt something whoosh past the place where he had just been. Then he heard a rumble above him. Oh no, he thought. He quickly ran back to where Keralin was and hauled him back as far as he could as the sound of crashing rocks filled his eardrums. After a while, the sound went down to a small trickle of rocks, then nothing. He realized he was panting, mostly because of fear.

Post Re: Something unknown.
OOC: My apologies again, I'm not sure why I kept putting this off.

Keralin gripped onto what he knew was real and sought to remove everything that he knew was false. For one the nails he dug into his head was causing real pain, the pressure against his teeth told him that his jaw was clenched. A small point of wetness told him that there was a tear running down his face. Aelir. He thought. He was real.
"You will obey!" A voice came into his voice.
"No." He answered faintly.
Another pain hit Keralin then as he hit the ground. That was enough to shake into him that although he wresled with the magic inside his mind there was still things going on outside his body. Suddenly, everything was made clear to him.
I see now.

Aelir ran after Phalynx as closely as he dared, for she might stop suddenly. He was elated by the fact he actually felt Keralin again but with that brought more longing, for Aelir wanted to be with Keralin again so badly that he wanted to destroy this entire illusion and the one that has forced him to be away from his rider. Instead he settled on shouting into the abyss.
Come out and show yourself coward! You will pay for keeping me away from my rider with your life!
Almost as if in answer to that Aelir could feel his rider's presence, it was behind him and, as if in a dream, Aelir saw his rider standing there.
"Aelir!" Keralin yelled. "Is it really you!?
Yes. Aelir answered, his joy everwhelming. He ran towards his rider as Keralin ran towards him. But something felt wrong about Keralin, the usual music inside his head was different and his walk was too right. You're not Keralin. Aelir said.
"Aelir? It's me!" Keralin said, reconsidering.

Away from me spectre!

Keralin knew what he was afraid of, what it was that he ran from, what it was that truly sent chills down his spine. He feared that he might be used to hurt the ones he loved, to be rejected by the ones who he had given his heart, and even his soul, to. So he watched in horror as the illusion of Keralin approached Aelir, unsure whether or not he was looking from as distance or the one walking up to Aelir. A large collection of rocks crashing behind him took him back to reality. "Zeta!" Keralin yelled at his newfound friend.
"Brisingr!" He cast a wall of flames down the corridor, altering the spell that it wouldn't hurt Zeta.

Phalynx skidded to a stop when she felt Aelir turn around behind her. Aelir? she questioned, swinging her body around. Aelir, no! she started to cry, but realized that he had figured out on his own that this was not the real Keralin. She growled furiously and blasted the illusion away with her starfire temporarily.

Phal sensed the malevolent presence within the catacombs grow stronger and more present than ever. It obviously wanted them dead. She looked back the way they were going, hoping to continue, and saw with happiness that Keralin was already making his way to them. Aelir! Keralin's coming! We must hurry and meet up with him! she shouted, beckoning the blue dragon to follow.

Zeta shook himself off. Apparently whatever kind of evil resided here was starting to grow even more menacing. "Come on, let's keep moving," he said to Keralin. He felt that the longer you stayed in one place, the more dangerous it became, because it always seemed that when they were standing still was when the more malcious things happened. As he walked, he could not rid himself the low sound of a soft, evil laugh in his ear.
