perhaps dragons are the missing link between dinosaurs and modern birds.

Re: Who believes in dragons?
Well if dragons existed during the Prehistoric time, then we would of found some evidence, like bones or something. Which we haven't so for now it can't be tested so it isn't entirely true. And how could that be? Dragons were supposed to be scaly not furry.

Re: Who believes in dragons?
The proper wording is "feathery." And I make that statement because if you look at the skeleton of a dragon and that of a bird, they are almost exactly alike, minus the front legs and the triangular skull.

Re: Who believes in dragons?
Well it is possible we never came across any proff of dragons yet.... the contidents of the earth move around like so many centimeters a year... scientists say that the contidents were once oll connected ... it is posible that what is now ocean was once land and maybe some evidence of dragons were lost to the ocean. And since we havent explored much of the ocens at all... well we could be missing lots

Re: Who believes in dragons?
That's one of the most intelligent theories I've heard in this topic yet. It's entirely possible that most of the proof of dragons hasn't been found due to the break-up of Pangea. (Pangea is the term used to describe the single mass of land the continents formed before they broke apart.)

Yeah but I don't think they could be related to any possible dragon theory because they'd be way too bulky to fly lol.

Komodo Dragons to bulky to fly??? Look at Saphira for cryin' out loud. For all we know, Komodo Dragons and other such reptiles evolved that way.

Re: Who believes in dragons?
It's possible, but why would something that could fly (which is clearly an advantage to not being able to fly) evolve into a land creature? I mean evolution is natural selection, right? So that means the dragons with the best flying abilities must have died more frequently than the ones that couldn't fly so well, to evolve into Komodo dragons. That just doesn't make sense to me.

Re: Who believes in dragons?
I dunno, maybe they evolved into land animals because of that meteor theory that scientists have. You know, the one they think caused dinosaurs to go extinct. 'Course, somebody on here said earlier that dragons existed after dinosaurs were gone. Guess we'll never know. At least not until some scientist makes the break through of a lifetime. Or even more simple, Komodo Dragons aren't related to dragons, but dragons do exist anyway. It's entirely possible that dragons exist, but for some reason have evolved or degenerated into some lesser creature. Just because we humans have made some astonishing discoveries of late doesn't mean we know all the secrets of the universe.

Re: Who believes in dragons?
See? That's the sort of stuff I'm talking about. Just because we discover some stuff, doesn't mean we know everything. More than likely we won't know all the worlds secrets, that's what makes life fascinating. Living every day to the fullest and filling it with the things that interest you the most, that way you could die knowing you at least learned some things you otherwise wouldn't have known before.

we know MOST of what is out there. I don't think that we would have missed something as big as DRAGONS. Even if there was a thick forest, flying dragons would have had a range bigger than just Antartica!!! The range would have been VAST!!!

For all we know the bodies of a few dragons might have gotten trapped in between the two continental plates that form the Himalayas.

Re: Who believes in dragons?
Okay, here's the deal. We can't prove that dragons exist, while you other folks can't prove they don't and never did, just by saying,"I've never seen it or heard of it, so therefore it can't exist." So how about we drop it for a second and go find evidence that proves our point, then we can come back and debate about it some more. (This post was originally much longer, but my computer screwed up and didn't post it correctly. So I decided to send the same message, but to shorten it.)

Re: Who believes in dragons?
look. In this topic we must get out of our little fantasy worlds and our little bubbles and we must be practical and logical. This is easier for some than others, and some might not even be able to do this at all. The thing is that THERE IS NO EVIDENCE TO EVEN SUGGEST THE EXISTENCE OF DRAGONS. Thus the only practical and logical conclusion to draw would be that THEY NEVER EXISTED!!!

Re: Who believes in dragons?
You know, most of the time I agree with all you folks, but here I just have to say...
If we who believe dragons did and do exist live in a bubble of fantasy, how about you people who live in black and white (fact and no fact) step out of your bubble of blah, and take a look around the world of imagination. Wonder about the things that could be done with just a few improvements on modern technology. Do things like that, and you'll be right up there with all the great thinkers, even if you don't get recognized.

Look, I don't live in a bubble. And whatever you think...well I don't care, but if you haven't noticed, this world is dying because of us, the oceans are rising, war has spread over the countrys, death, extinction of animals. We are distroying the planet. And who cares if were great thinkers or not, mabey we don't care about being reconized. Perhaps we're just trying to get a point through to you peeps who don't believe in Dragons. They could have existed here and they could exist somewhere out of this galaxy!!

Re: Who believes in dragons?
Of course they could exist, or could have once existed, whether on this planet or another, but it depends of what you see as a dragon. So many cultures have so many versions, and I don't think it's occurred to us that they could have been invented as completely different animals. After all- what is a dragon? The Chinese thought it had antlers, the Europeans thought it had wings and more than four legs, many other cultures thought it even had no legs and lived in the sea, or had a bird-like beak (I mean- have you ever seen the Welsh flag?). Just because some bloke one day came along and summed them all up as dragons doesn't mean they are all the same creature. This is what leads me to personally believe, that it's a myth. I'm quite open to the concept of there once being a large flying reptile, but whether I could call it a dragon, I don't know.

Re: Who believes in dragons?
They have different names for Dragons as well, like Drako and Drakon. But everyone believs in different things, some may say there fake and some may say their real. But nobody knows for sure.

I'm sorry. If that was directed to me, i have to laugh. I spend more time daydreaming than watching tv or even being on here, and that's saying something. I don't "live" in reality, it's just that I know when I have to step out of my fantasy bubble and be realistic and logical. and my analogy about a bubble of fantacy was that you are living in one and the real, logical world is on the outside. You can't inverse my analogy. It doesn't work the same. Skarlete moon wrote: Look, I don't live in a bubble. They could have existed here and they could exist somewhere out of this galaxy!! war and extinction are mostly our faults, but don't get me on global warming. I guess dragon-like-creatures could live on other planets, but WE ARE TALKING ABOUT EARTH!!! EARTH is the only thing we can be ever certain about. And don't start saying that dragons could have all been abducted by aliens or they ARE the aliens.

But! What about that new planet they found...they said that we might have to move there when the Earth blows. Its like Earth and we may have to leave this planet sooner than predicted.

Whatever...but dragons could have been on this earth but before the dinosaurs, they could have evolved into dinosaurs!

Single celled organisms actually. Then into small worms, fish, land creatures and so on. But that's just what I believe, and I believe that if dragons were as powerful as they are made out to be, they would have evolved into something even more powerful which doesn't exist today.

I was going for fish. they had fins which turned into toes gradually to be able to go0 onto land to avoid predators. it started off temporary, then they just moved onto land to avoid predators altogether.

What Firetongue said, if dragons did evolve, they would of become more powerful, then we would know about it, but there have been no signs of such thing. They may of deevloved, which I doubt would happen. So I don't think they ever existed.

How did ppl come up with dragons if they never existed? In my opinion dragons must have existed long long ago and peole must've got cofused and made up stuff as they breathe out fire, coz superstitions or false beliefs are mostly made by people it never really happens they r just a coincidence.

Techically yes what? People would be saying that dragons were real if we asked. People made them up for fun. It's all fantasy junk.

There are those little green lizards, though. They have those little flaps under their front legs so they can glide from tree to tree.

Yes. Dragons are very important even now. They are an important part of the chinese culture. Why would they be so important if they were fictional?

gods are important to culture. Just look at the Greeks. Hardly a single Greek believes in the Ancient Greek Gods, even though they are a key part of their culture and heritage.

that's racist and bigoted. Good Job.
The Chinese dragon is SOOOO far from the Western dragon that they couldn't have come from the same source.

Exactly, the way we are talking about dragons is ones that fly and breathe fire, which some of us believe that don't exist, and they are right.

well i would cosider a dragon larger than a pteradatyl and 4 legs that could fly... there could be a way they could breath fire that is realistic, but they dont have to breath fire to be a dragon

Re: Who believes in dragons?
This is complete crap I expect people would be furious if you tried to change their beliefs in something like oh, say... religion! Why is this any different? Why can't people just state their opinion and stop trying to convert everyone else?

Re: Who believes in dragons?
As Siegemaster said, It's a maybe the size of Pangea, All the continenets put together and that is huge. And yeah why do you have to make believe that dragons existed because THEY DIDN"T!!!

Re: Who believes in dragons?
*rolls his eyes* You just contradicted yourself. Earlier you said that MAYBE dragons existed. Now you are saying they didn't exist. It would be nice if you could get your story together, man.

Re: Who believes in dragons?
i give up arguing...it doesn't have a point anymore. Its to complicating trying to get a point across you non dragon believers. There is a chance that they might have exsisted and a chance that they have not. Believe what you wanna believe...personally I don't care anymore!!!

Re: Who believes in dragons?
but clearly, subconsciously, you think there is a chance despite your loosely-based and persistant arguements.

Re: Who believes in dragons?
speaking of loosely based....your argument stems on the possibility that anything can happen. An egg can shatter in a way that it reforms, but the probability is such that one never will. Same concept.

Re: Who believes in dragons?
that is almost exactly what I am saying. In concept, it may be true, but in reality, it is not.

the both of you are maniacs. I'm tired of fighting about this. One day, you're gonna be proven wrong.

Re: Who believes in dragons?
Dragons do exist, there are komodo Dragons in the world, and there are flying Lizards that grow up to be about 4-7 ft long. Either if they are the kind you expected they do exist. They just cant talk, give you magic abilites, grow 20 ft high, or breath flames. Like most peoples idea of a "Dragon" is.

A komodo dragon is just a big lizard that poisons it's prey and follows it by it's scent. And the way I'm talking about a dragons is that it can fly and breathe fire. That's my description of a dragon. And it's not real.
