Post Belt of Beloth the Wise
Okay Eragon losing the belt is one of the most frustrating question left unanswered in my opinion. For the life of me I can't imagine where and how that belt went, all my theorys are pretty outlandish e.g: It ran away when under threat? :P any ideas people help a confused guy out!

Lol, that annoyed me to. At first I thought maybe Murtagh had appropriated it, but then the Helgrind priests said that he didn't know Eragon was there, which he would have if he had found and taken the belt. I can't for the life of me figure out where it went. Your idea about it running away is as good as any I can come up with, lol. :)

Well the elves said it had been lost many times before, mayby CP might bring it back in whatever future books he reffered to writing. Such a shame it will be years before we get any semblance of an answer!

I know! Hopefully he doesn't take too long to get back into the world of Alagaesia. He said he might write a little sci-fi before getting back into fantasy, but I hope he doesn't mean he's gonna write a whole series before he gets back to it.

Ugh, that was one of the most annoying things... 12 diamonds, brimming with power? How could you lose such a thing... It had to be taken, because when Eragon scryed it, he only saw blackness, and the only time we've seen that happen is when Murtagh was abducted, and it was because of a spell the Twins used. So I think that a priest of Helgrind or some random magician snagged it, and put a spell over it, protecting it from being sensed or scryed. They would probably attach the spell to the belt and make it feed off of the energy that had been stored in it.

was it a priest though? I think I remember reading that Eragon was the one who placed the spell on it, 'cause he was intensely regretting it when they couldn't find it. Don't take my word for it though, I don't have a copy with me at the moment to check.

I might be totally off base here, but if anyone remembers in Brisingr and in Inheritance, those two women, one bery buff and strong and the other who is not talked about so much. My opinion is that those two are the next two characters to be written about, and that those two will somehow attain the belt, or already have the belt. But that is just my humble opinion.

Even if CP hadn't already said it, someone asked him the other day who those two women are and he tweeted: "The stars of another story." As for them having the belt... Idk.

Yeah, I know it is a long shot, but as mysterious as they are, they are sure to have some sort of great power so that is why I assumed the belt, but again I may be totally off base.

Yeah, and in Brisingr they are the ones that Eragon asks Angela about and as always she refuses to say anything.

I think that's its probably just someone who took it. A guard who thought something along the lines of 'Oooo something shiny' and he could sell it for a lot of money, or a priest who either knew what the belt was or knew that it contained a lot of power and hid it from the others for his own uses.

I do not think Eragon will ever get the Belt back. When he lost it, he said that he missed it not for its incredible amount of power or its rareness, but because it was symbolic for all the deaths of animals it held. He had to lose it, otherwise those deaths would impact his entire life forever. For a reference, in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Harry loses his Firebolt and Hedwig. These are symbolic because it is Harry losing his childhood; he is moving on.

For the whereabouts, I suppose the nomads could find it. I also do not think it had substantial power stored within it, so I do not think it will be a threat.

There is magic placed upon the Belt that prevents it from being scryed on. I think this was placed (as well as many other protective charms) by Beloth. I think Eragon has placed some but not many. He can't find it - and I do not think it is that important.

I don't think we are ever going to get a concrete answer there's just too much that "could" have happened. I think that all we an count on is that it will be a big part of a story that is yet to be written.

Well Eragon knew the name of the ancient language when he came back to look. He should of been able to remove any spells on it or he probally could of done something really kool and some how magiclly made it come to him.

I don't think he could have done that really. They didn't even know if the belt was still in that building or anywhere under it and if the belt was far away and he tried to summon it it could kill him. We also don't know how exactly he worded the protection spell. Even if he had the ability remove it, it could prove disastrous.

Couldn't Eragon use the Word to bypass the wards on the Belt and find it?

Now there's a clever idea.

I doubt he would though. As valuable as the Belt is, I don't think Eragon would waste the use of the word just to find it. I think he'll be content to just leave it wherever it is and wait for it to turn up again.
