 Nightwish
Incomer sent me this cool song a while ago, so I thought some of you lot might like it too:
http://www.videocodezone.com/videos/n/n ... gel-2.html
It's classified as heavy metal, but I dunno. Seems kinda gothic to me. I like it

Wish I had an Angel...Great song!!! I love Nightwish...they are so awesome! I love the songs Nemo(my fav.), Sleeping Sun, and Over the Hills and Far Away...
Yeah it's sort of heavy metal/goth but still I love their music.
Umm...mind if I share a video...Nemo...it's their most popular song and it's their best....mind if I Firetongue?

lol, I've seen lots of their videos before. Isn't nemo the one where she's rolling about in the snow? lol, that's a cool song. Sleeping sun's not bad either, but I prefer their heavier songs. More death metal style.

Yeah I agree. You know that they got rid of Tarja right? I can't believe they did and they are looking for a new vocalist, unless they already have one. I guess they were having problems with Tarja and stuff. Too bad though..*sigh*

Go to their website. They sent her a letter on the day of their tour to Mexico saying that they were basically firing her. Evidently she got married to their manager and he started making some decisions that the other band members didn't like. Also in the letter from the other members they even said that they would hardly see each other...just do their music and not see much of her anymore. Plus she also said can forget about Canada and the US since their venue's are too small....something like that...it's in the letter they had sent her that day. It happens though...they have problems and they fired her...but they are still together and looking for a new female vocalist. It was not because she was an opera singer and she had to leave. Just the band was having some difficult times I guess.

Whoa that's kind of....coincidence maybe. That's cool though and it's a good song...odd, weird, but neat all the same.

the only thing about bless the child are the words. Otherwise, no similarities. That whole album is called Century's Child, so most of the songs there are about the "century's child" Dead to the world is on that album.

Hi
I like Nightwish! Unfortunatly, the only songs I know are "Nemo" and "I wish I had an angle". But I've heard that their last album was crap and the older ones are much better. Do you agree?

Great news for Nightwish fans! The band have chosen their new vocalist to replace Tarja Turunen, and the release date for their next studio album is September 26th 2007. They say they will keep their songs in the new slightly harder style of Wish I had an Angel, Nemo and Planet Hell (three of my personal favourites, so that's great new for me lol) and their first single, featuring the new vocalist, will be called Eva, released on 30th May 2007, which is also when the name of their new vocalist will be revealed.

 Re: Nightwish
Their new single "Eva" is out, and the singer has been revealed- Anette Olzon. Despite promises of faster, heavier metal by the band, the new song is slow, sad and (if I might say so) very disappointing. However, if you want to, you can listen to it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fShJs8eXrrk

 Re: Nightwish
](images/smilies/eusa_wall.gif) I agree with Firetongue. This is one of the slowest Nightwish songs which i have ever heard. Also Annet Olzon seems to be too sweet-voiced (ok i probably can't say it like that but i hope you understand what i mean ).

 Re: Nightwish
Update: As quoted from that infamous magazine we all know and love (well, any metalheads from the UK will anyway XD ) :
Hot Albums '07 wrote: Nightwish Album title: "Dark Passion Play" Release Date: September 28 What's the story? Nothing gets your inspiration juices flowing quite like turbulence. Just ask Nightwish. Shortly following the recording of live DVD "End Of An Era" in the winter of 2005, the Finnish metallers sacked frontwoman Tarja Turunen and began the lengthy hunt for a new vocalist. Since then, the band have hired Swedish singer Anette Olzon and got stuck into making the follow-up to 2004's "Once". "It's ridiculousy huge, rich and ambitious," keyboardist and main songwriter Tuomas Holopainen reveals. "It's possibly the darkest album and the heaviest album that we've done. When an artist creates something, it always reflects what is going on in his or her own life at that moment. 2005 was the worst year of my life because of what was going on in the band and also what was going on with my personal life. "As corny as it sounds, the music was my defence mechanism against the world and it really helped through all of that," he adds. Considering Nightwish were the ones who galvanised the female-fronted gothic metal genre, it's a surprise to hear that male vocals pop up on this offering, and a whole song goes by featuring only them, those of bassist Marco Hietala. "Some of the lyrics were things that we couldn't really put into the mouth of any vocalist." explains Holopainen. "So Marco ended up singing those and then there was Marco's own song, so he naturally wanted to sing it!" That's not the onlt scuffing of the genre guidelines on Nightwish's sixth release- the last four songs, beginning with the crashing waves and instrumental of "The Islander" betray both a passion and skill for Irish folk music that a band from the dark heart of Scandinavia shouldn't be able to manage. "I've always been a fan of Celtic folk and Irish music," laughs Holopainen. "We're not a prisoner of any format and it's a blessing that we can do almost anything and it still sounds like Nightwish!" Sample track titles: "The Poet And The Pendulum", "Aramanth", "Eva", "The Islander", "Last Of The Wilds".

 Re: Nightwish
I have it, there are one or two good songs, but I'm still not sure if I like it. I do like Master Passion Greed though, I think it's the song that Marco wrote.

 Re: Nightwish
Yayy, Finnish band 8)
I like NW very much, Over the Hills and Far Away is my fav.
Anette is too pop :< I don't like the way she sings. I hatehatehate her. And Tarja.. she is still the best. I love her voice, but her new album is bad. Very bad, cause she don't sing english anymore.
But, back to NW. When the band was on Helsinki sharing signatures, I wanted to be here, but over 300 kilometres.. Mom didn't like my idea :D

 Re: Nightwish
Anette's picture on myspace (before they recently changed it) looked like she was trying to be a pop star. Hello, METAL band people! They're new album is nice, but its not NW! If it had been another band's CD i might have liked it, but it makes me sad. I prefer the NW that sang "Wish I Had An Angel", "Phantom of the Opera", & "Nemo" -sigh-

 Re: Nightwish
Yea, particularly in Amaranth Anette is terribly pop. Without she it would be great musicvideo. I found a picture, where Anette was in very short and tight skirt, and its here.eh, someones may think, that Anette's skirt is not short or tight, but for singer of Nightwish.. Hohh. (or it is, i don't know. people is coming more and more.. mh, I jump that part over :DD Would be too filthy. Hehe)

 Re: Nightwish
Yeah it's definitely not right lol. You should have seen the picture in Kerrang- she was wearing some random tartan thing that looked very un-nightwishy

 Re: Nightwish
Yea, i think i never can't accept she! I'm always comparing she with Tarja.
In BBB Anette as awful as she can, but fortunately Marco is saving the song. It's great that Marco and his voice are not changed.

I seriously miss Tarja, but at least some of the same stuff is there, Marco included. Thank goodness. I really love his voice.

 Re: Nightwish
No offense to any Tarja fans out there but, i think she's pretty horrible by herself...
I just watched the Amaranth music video...i dunno, she does have a pretty good voice, i think, its just not soprano like Tarja. Its a great song.

 Re: Nightwish
Hey!!
My friend introduced me to Nightwish a couple of weeks ago and I haven't been able to stop listening to them since!!!
After reading the letter, I can understand why the got rid of Tarja. Personally, I think Tarja is a better singer than Anette, but Anette does have a great voice and the rest of the band is still the same. The songs are still AWESOME!!!!!

 Re: Nightwish
Nightwish has been one of my favorite bands for a while now. The song The Poet and the Pendulum has to be my favorite song of all time. I (personally) believe it has everything that is good in the music word in it. And it doesn't hurt that the song is, like, a million years long.

 Re: Nightwish
I don't like Nightwish at all, I dont diss them or anything, I know very much about the band because my brother has been an passionate Nightwish fan for years, I just don't like Tarjas opera voice. But with Anette it's pretty fine, still can't imagine I would ever listen to them. But I still respect the band 'cause it's from my home country Finland and is pretty well known in the world.
