I just got a spoiler alert from alagaesia.com and when I went to go see what it said, it was a short little sentence: "In Brisingr Eragon meets a god." That's not the exact words, but it's pretty close. Discuss people, because I just woke up and nothing's coming to me.

Just because the elves said something doesn't mean it's not true. I know, they can't lie in the AL, but if they believe something is true, then they can say it. Wow. This is a totally unexpected twist in the story, I have to admit. *shakes head and whistles* If this was so unexpected, I'm tightening my seat belt when I read "Brisingr", because there's no telling what's going to happen now.

They are the ones who made it impossible to lie in the ancient language and they also made it to where if you try to burn something and look at something else, you'll still burn the thing you meant to burn. Not a very good explanation, but Oromis explains it to Eragon in Eldest, I can't remember where.

Yeah, I like the way Aeraldi put it better. I dunno, it's possible it could be a dwarf god, but I would be so bored and diappointed if it was. I don't know why, but asides from Orik, dwarves bore the heck out of me.

If its a dwarf god then it most likely will be Helzvog. Here is a list of dwarf gods:

Guntera King of the Gods. He is a warrior and scholar that the dwarves burn offerings to.
KilfGoddess of the rivers and sea. She is also the mate of Guntera.
UrurMaster of the air and heavens. He and his brother Morgothal loved eachother so much that they couldn't exist independently so they both made a fortress is the sky ( which is like the sun and stars)
MorgothalThe god of fire and lovable brother of Urur.
SindriThe Mother of Earth
HelzvogFavourite god of the dwarves since he is the one who created the first dwarf from the roots of a mountain.

Oh, and some gods made other creatures cauz they were all jealous of Helzvog. Sindri made humans from the soil, Guntera created elves to control Alagaesia for himself, and Urur and Morgothal combined to release forth dragons into the land.

Well, I did that to save people from going back and forth through the book and all. If it is a dwarf god, then I'm guessing Helzvog.

Yeah, I think it would be a little bit uncomfortable for Eragon to meet a god that only comes up to his hip, lol!

Yup, somebody did come up with that. It's where the god of death idea (my fav so far) came from.

Those were all dwarven gods, they're the only gods that have been described in any detail in the books. I dunno, I still don't want it to be one of them. It would be boring to me.

I dunno Annie. Would they want another dwarf god? I studied Greek mythology in English last year (but not in great detail, just stories and such, like the "Odyssey") and the gods always seemed to be jealous of each other. And according to the priest guy, jealousy among the gods led to the creation of the races of Alagaesia. Seems to me like they wouldn't want another god to create more competition. Unless CP makes it to where there's only that one god, Helzvog (sp?).

As much as this interests me, I have a headache, so I'll leave it at that.

To tell the truth, I am very skeptical about this notion. For one thing, there has been no clue to this plot twist in the other two books. Secondly, why hasn't the god dethroned Galbatorix? Unless Galbatorix is the god, or the mysterious god is controlling Galbatorix. If that is the case then in Book III Eragon will defeat Galbatorix and then finds he has to face an evil god who controlled Galbatorix and gave him all his power via the Vault of Souls.

Still, if CP doesn't portray this plot line correctly, it could create even larger plot holes than there already is.

This might sound dense, but I don't understand where this "god" is coming from. If it is one of these dwarf gods people speak of, I think it is a remarkably stupid idea.

Hrothgar is the name of the old king from Beowulf too.

I dunno, Sauron. There doesn't always have to be evidence in the first books to point in the direction of a twist in the next one. That's why they're called twists. If it was predictable, it wouldn't be worth reading.

so we could be talking about a god that put Galby on the thrown and then gave him a way to become super-powerful. but then why does the god not just come out and try to kill eragon before? especaly scince eragon is a major threat to both

Well, maybe he doesn't want Eragon to fail. Maybe he let Galby come to power to make way for a new generation of Riders. Or maybe it's like Hrothgar said in the first book, "The time of the Rider is gone." (Something like that, I know, but not perfect.)

Perhaps he's going to tell Eragon how Galbatorix's power keeps growing, so he can do something to stop it. I think that's going to be the key to stopping Galbatorix, getting his power to stop growing.

Because Morgothal is the god of fire. The name of the book is Brisingr and CP said he thought it was a fitting name because of the events depicted in the book... Could just be me though I don't know...

Okay, in the regular version of Eldest (not the limited edition) have any of you read the synapse thingy of Eragon??? Okay, I have and here's a little excerpt. I'll give you my point at the end....

The best ideas so far are the god of the underworld or the god of fire.

I personally prefer the fire one. Because if he's gonna meet underworld god in vault of souls he's got to learn his name too. In the same book.

It can't be an "elven" god, since they don't believe in them. The god might have created elves, but not an elven god.

When I saw this I just went "Whoa!" Personally, I think it will be a dwarven god. Why else would Paolini have spent an entire chapter describing the different gods? Dont answer that question.

Hmmm, personally I think Dragon, Dwarf, or even the Destiny god ideas. (No I'm not being biased about Destiny, even though it's my idea.) The death god thing isn't really a bad idea either. The Vault of Souls could be a Paolini/Alagaesia version of Hades. (Look up Greek Mythology if you don't know what Hades is.)

That would be a neat plot twister and he could tell our Eragon part of his name, like maybe Brisingr is part of Eragon's name. But that's a different subject. I think it will either be a Dragon Rider or a dwarven god. Not sure though.

Where do you get all of those smileys????? Vanir was disrespectful to Eragon because he thought he had ruined everything. Before his scar-removal, he was pretty useless. Once he was useful again vanir was fine with him. If you insist on hating him however, i wont stop you...

Yeah i agree, thanks for the ranking thing. If firetoungue wasnt a mod or whatever, shed be the only red dragon. I dont think theres even a green dragon, and maybe one daek dragon. Hes not that young, hes older that eragon. He is young for elf standards but hes probably 40ish.

I said she'd..... Vanir was the elf who Eragon sparred with in elesmera. At the beggining they hated each other but at the end vanir respected him. If you forgot who vanir was you really, really, should read Eldest again.

Well, there might be more than one god, but I think Eragon will only meet one. Here's something that I just thought of:

If it is a dwarven god, doesn't that make the elves look stupid. I don't think that CP would want his elves to look stupid after he's made them appear like such a smart and strong race. It just makes me think that the god will be a Dragon Rider. But it might be an elven god.

I think the dwarf god is most likely, although what someone said about it being his namesake was fairly interesting.

I've never thought about the god being at the Vault of Souls, but it's very possible. As for the god being the tatoo, I highly doubt that that's possible, altough I hate to set my ideas in stone until I actually know, so I won't look stupid.

To me, the most likely possibility that would make sense would be that it is the first Eragon, who gives Eragon his true name, which he then speaks into the Vault of Souls.

Also, in the main summary for Brisingr, it mentions Eragon possibly traveling to lands other than Alagaesia. Could this perhaps be a spiritual realm or other land where he meets this god?

Well, I didn't mean that he would go away for good. Maybe the summary meant that he might travel to one of the islands off of the main land. Such as that Dragon Rider Island where he could meet Eragon the First's god. Of course, that all depends on if the god is a dragon rider.

I dunno... It could be like what IB said... The god of Fate in the form of Eragon the First... The god would want Eragon and Saphira to trust him, so he would probably take on the shape of someone they felt they could trust. (Brom or Eragon the 1st)

Shapeshift means to change appearance (close enough anyway). So, the god would change his/her appearance to resemble that of Brom.
