Yes, she does. She's an ELF. She doesn't show emotion, but you can get an idea from small actions. Take her line after Eragon returns from the battle: "The candle still burns." WT*?! She thought he was DEAD and that's ALL she says. She would have done SOMETHING being as close as she was, but all she says is something really really cryptic. That's not normal friend behavior. What had happened is that when she left, she had figured out the reality of her feelings for him and then when he returned, she suppressed all of them, including the ones which would be normal.

no no. It said that they both believed he was dead. And even if you believe that he's alive, unless stated, there's probably a lot of doubt, which when vanquished, causes one to jump for joy, or something analogous. She did nothing of the sort, which brings one to the conclusion that she is holding back her emotions, which, if it was not more than a friend's, would not be an issue.

Annie, what you are saying is completely unfounded. If you say that she hasn't realized any of her feelings and has kept them bottled up, that means that we couldn't have seen any of them, therefore you can't even say she has any feelings for him. But I say that she HAS realized her feelings for him after she had left Ellesmera, which explains why she acted so weirdly.

everyone who thought that it meant, "Oh. You're alive!"... just no. She MURMURED it. It was barely audible. It was her voicing her thoughts, albeit cryptically and metaphorically. One, when astonished or extremely happy, does NOT murmur. Thus there are two options: a. she is not happy, which we know not to be true, and b. She is suppressing her emotions. Why would she suppress her emotions if they were just those of a friend and nothing more? She WOULDN'T. Thus, the only logical explanation is that she has feelings for Eragon that are beyond that of a friend.

I fail to see why being able to hold one's composure during battle has anything to do with the relief and euphoria from finding one's friend not dead when the person thought they were!

Like I said before (I think on this topic) Arya prolly already guessed that Galby wouldn't kill Eragon because she is the last female dragon. Arya is not stupid and she also perchance didn't tell Nasuada incase Eragon got captured and then Nasuada would be upset. Also, here's another piece of evidence how Arya can keep here cool in the prologue.

Even though she saw both a friend and a lover dead, she could carry on running. I personally would be rooted to the spot screaming and even crying if I saw something as horrible as that and any Mary Sue that I have created would be at least dumbstruck.

uh, well, she doesn't know that, does she? we have no knowledge that anyone else knows that fact besides Galby, Murtagh, and Eragon (and their dragons). But seriously, she would see it would be impractical to not tell Nasuada, being the head of the Varden. Keeping her uninformed would harm their cause, thus Arya would definitely tell Nasuada everything she knows.

She IS more focused on the practical: she needs to run to survive and protect the egg. She can't let their deaths be in vain.

point is that she could have realized it later. She could have not understood her feelings or they hadn't really presented themselves until after she left. The thing is that she only has to believe that she didn't love him more than a friend at the time she said it. She could easily have just not know it.
