IS saphiras true name the same as eragons, but i bet its different

The same but different? You mean like its a variation of Eragon's true name?

i don't think that saphiras true name is the same as eragons because a true name is what a being really is and spahiras personality is quite a bit different to eragons so her true name would be different and probably not be a variation of eragons if you see where i'm coming from.

She is also a dragon. A race completely different from humans and elves.

True. Maybe her true name could be the name of the first dragon, because Eragon was too. Well, the first dragon rider.

I don't think that Saphira would be the same as the first dragon, they are actually very different. Different colors, the first dragon lived wild for a portion of his life, etc. Saphira's name would probably be closer to Brom's Saphira.

well no cuz remember the first eragon found an egg not a hatched dragon so bid'daum didn't spend part of his life wild.

Still, both of them have gone through completely different things. So it is unlikely that they will be the same.

I was just thnking. Could eragon have Brom's true name? He was his father after all. I know this isnt about saphira, but just thought Id ask.

I donalt think so because though people have said they act similar, they have done completely different things throughou their lives anf grew up differently.

I highly doubt it is pure or anything of the sort. No one is perfect. People have said it has to do with fire and there is already a thread that is discussing Eragon's true name.

well, it couldn't be brisingr, could it? I mean, that's supposedly his sword's true name, or because he made it it has those properties.

It could be brisingr because Eragon made the sword and the sword's true name could be associated with his because he forged it.

i don't think it would just be brisingr because then virtual;ly everyone that knows a bit of the ancient language would be able to control him but i think it is associated with fire, anyway back on topic i reckon that saphiras true name would be something to do with wise or something like that.

Again I think that is way too broad. All dragons are wise.

yes but she is still the last female dragon and she may know she has a future but your true name is what you *are* and she is the last female dragon. so when or if another female dragon is born then her true name would change.

Her name doesn't have anything to do with alone. Her character is not alone, her personality is not alone. If you say it is then everyone's name would be partly alone because everyone is alone.

I think her name might have something to do with the fact that she can, on rare occasions, use magic of her own will and maybe she will do more.

i don't think Eragons true name is Brisingr, Brom said it in the first book when he was lighting the campfire and Eragon didn't shiver. Also he has said it a few times during the book and never shivered as Sloan Had. The only response i can think to fight with that is Eragon's true name changed with the Blood-Oath Celebration and his journey. It could also be the word that cannot be spoken in any language. It may have been the original Eragon's True name also. The original could have put protections against it. Honestly i don't think anyone has guessed his true name yet. I think the best guess is Fire of Fate or Dominance of Fate are the best guesses. But it wont be Brisingr of that i am almost sure.

Dragon of old could control their magic when they had it they just couldn't decide when they would be able to use magic. Saphira admits to eragon that she has the same problem. She couldn't use magic to free herself from the Ra'zac or to stop Eragon's back from hurting. She also admits it could have taken weeks for her to mend the star rose if it wasn't for Eragon's emotions.

Well, if it is Brisingr, I would probably bneat myself because it would have made so much sense and I would freak out for not noticing it. But if it is not, then i wont beat myself up. lol

Besides, that'd be a pretty dull true name. No grandeur to it... you know, like "the dominance of fate". Not "fire". =P

couldn't magic allow him to change his form? maybe Saphira is a royal dragon, like angela said he would fall in love with someone of high status, but she didn't know if it would work out or not. Oromis said that dragons had great power, and maybe their combined strengths could be enough to transform eragon into a dragon.

Saphira might be something long and powerful. Maybe its the name of the first dragon, which I forgot. I think it was Bid'daum or somethign like that.

It would be an interesting fact, but I don't think two people can have the same name, and if they did, that would be akward, but the first eragon is dead now, so I guess it would work.

That too could be a possibility. It could be a combination of both her parents names.

In the second book, she introduced herself and had said her mother's name, and I think Glaedr told her her father's name too. So they were mentioned, but I forgot who was who. One was a wild dragon, the other was a rider's dragon, I think...

what if galby's name and eragons name were exact opposites

Saphira would probably have to have a name that would corrispond to her carrying on the dragon species, because one of the dragons is dead, (glaedr) the other is partically evil (thorn) and the other isn't even hatched yet. or, she could be the last female dragon of her kind.

She is the last female dragon. I think it said that in book 3

No... Saphira is a female and Thorn and the last dragon are males. It only takes one female and one male to reproducce. Murtagh even says thats a main reason why Galby wants Eragon and Saphira. To make more dragons.

Yeah, but would saphira want that? No she doesn't want to be enslaved by galbatorix just to make babies. That would be very degrading for the daughter of the sky.

Well then its a good thing I said thats why Galby wanted her not the other wat around. but she will have to pick someone if the dragon race is to live on whether it be Thorn or the other dragon or both.

That would make more sense for them because you can't force someone to have children with someone else, no matter how desperate you are.

Remember there still might be dragons in other lands other than Alagasia.

Oh yeah, that's right. If dragons exsist elsewhere, there might be hope for them. But if they go to the land of where the elves came from, then there may be a problem. The elves had a major war with them in alagaesia, who's to say they didn't in their other land?

But that would make two dragon wars when only one was recorded.

they said the had the war with dragons in Alagaesia, not their land. and if they had, why would they do the same foolish thing in alagaesia? also if i can recall correctly, it never said dragons had true names. also how in the world do you find out your true name? i think if saphira chose to have hatchlings with anyone to save the race, it would be Glaedr because she has already shown affection for him, and was scolded for doing so. she would rather die than let herself be enslaved to galbatorix and give him further dragons, to enslave the coutry further and encourage his madness

Her name might be something that has to do with preserving an endangered species.
