@Kvista-I have been thrrough Rhode Island, or, to be more specific, The State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, before. It's a beutiful place.

I have never been outside of EST while in the US, but I am familiar with almost every state in the time zone. AKA, at least MD, Florida, SC, NC, VA, PA, Mass, RI, CT, NY, GA, WV, DE, and NJ.

I live in a very small town northwest of Dallas, but in Hunt County. (I'm not sure how far we are from Dallas timewise.) Put it this way, when I say small, I mean we only have about 4 cops and all but 1 of them are but-ts.

All the snow is melting, and we haven't had one single snow day yet!

Yeah, there's this one cop in particular who likes to follow my mom's car around whenever she goes into town. So she avoids it at all costs and shops in Greenville for whatever we need before she comes home from work. He gave her a ticket one time and when she went to court, he was there. He watched her the entire time.

It's supposed to snow here on Monday!!!!

Yup She went to get the car inspected the other day, and she had to go through C---- to get there. No problem right? Well, after the guy finished with the car and she started home, that cop passed her going the other way, did a U-turn, and followed her to the end of our road. He kept going when she turned onto our street though.

Oh well, our dog will bite him in the nads if he tries coming onto our property. Labs are very sweet, but they do know when someone doesn't belong.

And the chance for snow is steadily increasing!!!!

Almost all of our snow is almost gone.

It's kind of similar with me and my brothers. I live only a couple blocks from a mall. So, when I walk there, I sometimes have people that stop by, especially during the winter, asking if I knew where I was and how far away my home was. They usually end up following us home.

And, also, my mailman is afraid of our dog. But not a lab or a doberman. No, I own a tiny little Shih-Tzu! And because he barks at the mailman, but not even nibbles him, we cannot get mail anymore! How ridiculous is that?! Plus, we've had the cops called multiple times on him, and they all end up laughing their heads off when they catch a first glimpse of him.

Stuck in Texas, Right outside San Antonio. Nice place, but no snow. 60's is cold for us.

Yeah, it was 60-something here today, but it's going to get colder very fast. Remember how I said it was gonna snow Monday? Well, they moved it up to Sunday around noon. I is very happy right now.

So you know what really su-cks about living across from a small town airport? When the brilliant little science dudes are trying to win a NASA grant and they shoot off their little jet engine all day long. That dang thing is so loud you can hear it inside my house like you're standing next to it. Although if you were standing next to it without ear protection, I doubt you'd have to worry about the noise level for long.

lucky. it's been nothing but cold and miserable here. I wanna feel the sun on my skin again, instead of the cruel frosty wind that rips the skin from my fingers...

@kvista: I am in no way trying to belittle your suffering, but if you wanna feel the cold like it's ripping the skin off you, go stand outside for an hour or so in the snow and sleet and arctic wind waiting for 3 numbskull, hardheaded horses to finish eating. That was NOT fun.

Funny thing is, I love this kind of weather. I'm a cold natured person I guess. I live in Texas right? Well, I have the whitest skin of anybody I know, and it never tans. Burns, but no tan.

@saphirarox: wow, that's horrible. lol that's miserable. At least you have a reason to go outside though. My parents were being something else, so they told me to go outside and do something, so I did and all my fingers cracked open. it hard to type with all these bandages on. lol

Yeah, luckily I didn't have to feed last night (which was kind of ironic, since the snow had stopped), but I will tonight. But I love my horses, so I'll suffer through it. Although I know what's going to be on the top of my list for my b-day this year.

yeah, my skin dried out and the skin around my fingers and the nails broke and it hurt like crazy, but it's life. oh well.

Yeah, I've been feeding them every night now and yesterday the filly (Eclipse, she'll be 3 in March) tried to colic. I was standing there holding her feed bucket and she was tearing into like she normally does. All of a sudden she just stopped chewing, her ears went back, she squinted her eyes, and pawed at the ground. I thought one of the little bull calves had come up behind her (she scared shiftless of them), but they were off eating hay. Then she tried to lay down. I called my mom and she told me to get her moving, trotting if possible. So I had to stand there swinging the end of the lead rope to make it whistle while Clips ran circles around me.

Mom came out and listened to her belly, but everything was fine by then. So now I'm sitting where I can peek out the back window and make sure she's not on the ground.

Lol, no. Not for another few years anyway. Mom wants to actually ride her before we breed her.

She was listening to her belly to make sure there wasn't any gas build-up or anything in Clips's intestines. That's why I had to get her moving, to make anything in there move along. Look up colic and it'll make more sense, I'm really bad at explaining this stuff, lol. I will say this, colic is a horseman's worst nightmare, that and coggins.

I'll probably go check on her again before I go to bed. I didn't feed tonight, so hopefully she'll be 100% tomorrow.

i had to shovel snow for about 5 days straight,a nd we had a lot of days off from school. Yay!

She's a-okay. Mom told me that we're really gonna start working her when spring rolls around.

I forgot to leave the water in the bathroom sink dripping last night and it got to 19 degrees and the water in the sink and toilet froze. Thankfully the pipes to the bathtub were unfrozen.

wow... And I thought our drain was bad. we can't flush and run the dishwasher at the same time. that's how bad it is. There can only be one thing running at a time, and If you have to go, well, you're out of luck.

Lol, don't even get me started. I prefer to have happy thoughts at this time of day.


Well, Duke (my mom's horse) snapped his lead rope the other day, officially bringing our total of usable lead ropes down to 1. That would be 1 lead rope for 3 horses that have to be fed EVERY day. Thank goodness for Atwoods. Mom's going to buy a couple more today.

Did I mention that we might get more snow in the next week or so?

We had a little bit of hail up here last year, it left a few little-bitty dents in the hood of my mom's car.

Not really, it was for about a minute, but that was it. It turned into sleet after that. The dents aren't even visible unless you're looking for them.

It's been the coldest winter here that I've ever experienced all my life over here. . . Ever since early December, temperatures have only risen above 20 degrees F only three times! Every night it's been getting close to sub-zero. . .

Snow is predicted for Sunday and Monday, and we still have snow remaining from December 16 on the ground!

December 16? Wow, that's not cool You should come to Texas, the temp where I'm at is supposed to get to around 60 today.

Well, today it's been unusually warm. Around 35. Though really, I'm good with heat. Utah gets VERY cold in the winter, but then in the summer, it can get into the 100s. At least I have that to look forward to.

Yeah, the coldest I've ever seen it was -5. That was many years ago, when I lived in the Panhandle. (I think I was 8-ish. I was in the 2nd grade for sure.)

it's soooooo cold here. And on top of than, I had to cut a huge snow pile in half and shovel it on top of the other half. that took forever.

And I repeat: Y'all are always welcome in Texas Just don't freak when you see me wearing a hoodie on a 100+ degree day, that's normal for me even though it makes my friends faint.

It's going to get pretty nasty here between right now and tomorrow.

yeah. We might actually leave school early today!

My old school district actually closed today... That's the second time in a month. They're notorious about staying open when the weather is really dangerous, so I was surprised. (They really only care about their rep and the bottom line.) I'm not kidding either, they kept school open one year even after two buses decided to go mudding.

Ding dong, January thaw is now GONE.

I had to go to school at 6:30 today, and while it was still dark, it was a fair 21F, mostly cloudy. On my way there, we got a good flurry of VERY dry, and powdery snow. (Usually a harbinger of cold) I go inside for an hour, and then when it was time to take the bus to go bowling with my PE class, it had suddenly dropped to a bitter 11F. That's 10 degrees in one hour!

But that's not the end of it. By the time bowling was over (Another hour) A thirty mph wind from the arctic came in, lowering the temperature to about 8F. That's excluding the windchill, which made it FAR worse, about 0F or -1F by the time I returned.

It has stayed that way all day, and I had to WALK the 1.2 MILES home. I probably wouldn't have made it, if it wasn't for my sub-zero tested winter coat, and THIS, which i was blaring with my ipod. Now that was an epic journey.

Brisineo, I by no means want to belittle your suffering, but try a wind chill of 6 at 5:30 and it'll be -11 by midnight. I'm wearing a hoodie over my pajama top and sweat pants over the pj bottoms. It was so bad that the water I dripped on the gate latches so I could go feed would freeze before I could get through, and so did the WD-40. (I was dripping warm water on the latches cause the snow/ice mix caused them to freeze shut.)

Well, that's not the worst of it. It's expected to get worse tonight and tomorrow for me. With 2F as the HIGH, with it subzero outside right now. And if it's still windy, its going to get REALLY cold.

I had to walk my dog today at sundown. Even with two pairs of jeans, Thermal clothing under exterior clothing, a thick wool scarf around my head, a thick beanie, ear muffs, heavy duty boots and a sub-zero coat, and yet still I was numb to the bone after a short walk. (Yet my dog, who has a puppy cut as of now, was doing perfectly fine.)

At least I have my bed with 4 blankets. A thin microfiber sheet, a kinko-therm blanket, a thick cotton blanket, and a down comforter. That will definitely keep me warm tonight.

Lol, how could you move under all of that? And that question goes for the blankets to. I have a sheet, an electric blanket, a comforter, and the quilt my mom and gma made me. Mucho warm. I think I'm gonna switch the order around tonight. Currently the comforter is between me and the electric blanket. That just ain't gonna cut it tonight, lol!

If I were you, I would have the closest blanket to you to be the sheet, then above it have the electric blanket, (On low though, since it will get quite hot after a while) Then the quilt, and then the comforter on top. That's similar to how I place my blankets, and I woke up nice and toasty.

I was barely able to move in all that clothing though. It was very hard to keep myself from sweating from the effort. My back is still sore. But the blankets feel awesome. I like the feeling of weight while I sleep.

Well, it broke the high. It's 3F. And a windchill factor that makes it feel like -9! And I'm still going to school! Yippee!

Dang Even my old school shut down today. And it's not nearly as cold today as it was yesterday. Meaning the temperature isn't falling, it's a stable 15F outside right now. And I have to go feed in an hour.

We had a two hour delay fro school because of the ice, but it would have been better if they cancelled it.

School here wasn't even delayed, even though I'm sure all that ice on the roads refroze last night.

Same with our roads. I almost fell leaving my driveway, and my bus went a miraculous .005 miles per hour. lol

Lol, well, my road has a 3ft drop off on the side my house is on and that crazy old hag that drives the bus always, without regard to the weather conditions, goes 50mph down it. The road isn't even safe to go 35 on in perfect weather. Remember the drop off I mentioned? It's lined with bois d'arc trees. A friend of mine decided to play chicken with the trees and the drop off in his little bittie toyota pickup, and lost. The tree hit square in the middle of his license plate, and the impact only knocked a patch of bark off the trunk. If it'd hit a little more to the left or right, either he or his little sister wouldn't be around.

Imagine a bus hitting that. And there's more than one bois d'arc tree there, and a fence line behind the trees.

Did I mention she's a crazy old hag?
