Asa and Naor
Name: Asa
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Age: 26
Parents: Del, father; Yula, mother (deceased)
Siblings: None
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Grey
Skills: Fighting: Asa can pretty much take anybody in swordfighting and fistfighting, simply because of his size. He learned to fight from his father, and those lessons make up some of his happiest memories.
Magic: Asa is a good magician, but not spectacular. He is most adept at breaking into other people's minds though.
Sense: There's really no accurate way to describe this, but Asa can sense a person's intentions. He can tell if they're trustworthy or not, and exactly how much he can trust him. Like most warriors, Asa also has the ability to sense when trouble is on the horizon and is hardly ever taken by surprise.
Character Personality: Asa is an extremely happy and excitable soul. He loves to mess around and play pranks. As Naor is so often fond of saying, he's like a kitten jacked up on catnip. He hates to think bad of anyone and always tries to see the good in people, no matter how evil they are or what they've done to him. Despite being too trusting though, Asa sometimes displays a cautious side. He has a knack for picking people he can trust to befriend. Thanks to this knack, he has no inhibitions in telling people anything. He can tell just how far he can trust them, and tells them things accordingly. When Asa gets angry, he all but blows up in the face of whoever caused his anger. He's the exact opposite of his normal self. He fights without rhythm and doesn't stop, no matter how badly he's injured. More than once Naor has either had to physically restrain him, or carry him away until he regained control. When Asa is by himself, he likes to carve and sing. His singing voice sounds like a frog getting stepped on though, so you'll never see him singing in front of other people, or even Naor. He is loyal to a fault and won't hesitate to throw himself in front of someone he cares about if they're in danger.
Character History: Asa was found by a couple from Teirm when he was just a baby. The couple took him to their home and raised him as their own son, since they could have no children of their own. His life with his parents was a happy one. His father was a soldier dedicated to protecting Teirm and his mother was an accomplished seamstress. When Asa was eight years old, he asked his father to train him to be a soldier, just like him. So that night Del brought home a shortsword and began teaching Asa how to fight like an Imperial soldier. To his delight, Asa took to the lessons like a fish to water. Despite Asa's gentle temperament, he took an immediate liking to pitting himself against a worthy opponent in a duel. He learned everything his father had to teach him, from swordfighting, fistfighting, and even minor healing. Just after Asa finished his training, his mother decided to take a trip to Belatona to look at some of the new fashions there to bring back to her seamstress shop. So Asa's parents departed with the next merchant train bound in that direction and left Asa in Teirm to keep an eye on their home. Asa's father was serving as a soldier escort for the caravan his mother was in, which is how he was allowed to accompany her, and was the first to see the bandits approaching the caravan. After a bloody battle in which all the bandits were defeated, Del turned to look for his wife and make sure she was ok. What he saw instead was her body, riddled with arrows. When Del returned to Teirm, he was a different man. He drank a lot and even beat up Asa. This went on for a few years, until one night, when Asa was sixteen, his son hit back. Asa beat his father until he was unconscious. When he realized that Del wasn't moving, Asa panicked, thinking he had killed his father. Then Del groaned and Asa realized that he wasn't dead, but was coming around quickly. Hating himself for it, Asa packed a few of his things and left his father to wallow in his misery. The one thing he didn't take was the shortsword he learned to fight with. He left it behind as a message to his father. A few years passed, and when Asa was nineteen, he wandered into a small roadside tavern. There were very few people inside, and Asa knew none of them, but one man with a hood on his head beckoned the young man over to his table. Asa hesitated, but went over to the table. He watched in surprise as the man untied his sword belt and passed it and the weapon attached over to him. The sheath was a bright blue and somehow Asa knew not to draw the weapon where anyone could see. "It was never mine, I was just holding it until the right person, you, came along," the stranger said. With that, he stood up and left, leaving Asa holding the sheathed sword. To stunned to stay any longer, Asa immediately left the inn, determined to find the man and ask him what he meant. When he reached the door however, he couldn't see the man, he had simply vanished. Taking this in with a guarded look, Asa ran into the trees, still cradling the sword. He hadn't been running for long when he heard heavy breathing, like a large animal. Before he could stop himself, he ran into the middle of a large clearing. In the clearing was a large, bluish-purple dragon. The dragon hummed at him and pushed him towards four eggs on a stump. Unsure of what the dragon wanted, Asa walked over to the eggs and stood before him. Then he noticed a small, light blue egg on the far right. Asa looked down at the sword in his hands, the sheath matched the egg perfectly. Not daring to believe what was happening, he reached out a hand to touch the egg. As soon as he touched it, the egg started to rock back and forth. Within a few minutes, a small, light blue dragon was standing before him, shaking off the remnants of the egg. He named the hatchling Naor and for awhile they trained with Naor's mother. Asa watched as gradually the remaining three eggs hatched, two wild and one to the Rider Lee. A few years after Naor hatched and he recieved the Gedwey Ignasia, Naor's father said it was time for her to leave the fold and travel on her own. In the two years after that, Naor and Asa have seen many things together and pledged to fight the evils that rage throughout Alagaesia.
Weapons: Asa still has the sword given to him by the stranger. The hilt is two-handed with a cross-tree guard. The blade is longer than normal and thick. Despite it's appearance, Asa is able to use it for either cutting and slashing techniques, or the more elegant maneuvers. From what he learned from Naor's mother, it is obviously a Rider's blade, as the blade perfectly matches Naor's scales. It is unknown who the sword belonged to before him, or if it was made specifically for him, before he was even bonded to Naor. He has yet to give it a name.
Animal Companion: None
Appearance: Asa is big, that's the only way to put it. He stands 6'7" and weighs well over 200lbs. His hair is shaved in a military style (like a buzz cut). His eyes are a steely sort of grey that make him look more serious than he really is. He only wears clothes that are fit to work in. Frilly things annoy him.
Weakness/Fears: Asa fears his temper. He's big enough that if he were ever turned loose on someone without Naor there to stop him, he could do some serious damage, even kill.
Dreams: To help his father get over his grief about his mother's death and to travel with Naor.
Reasons for Dreams: His father, despite what he was like after Asa's mother was killed, is still a good man. Naor is his other, better half. He's happiest when he's with her.
Alignment: Asa detests anyone who would use others for their own gain, just because they can.
Dragon:
Name: Naor
Age: 7
Color: Sky blue
Character Personality: Naor is extremely protective of Asa. She knows that he can sense whether or not to trust new people, but it still makes her scales itch when he reveals to people he hardly knows that he is a Rider. Naor loves her family and can't wait until the next time she sees them. Naor is terrified for Asa's safety when he loses his temper, because she's seen the sort of wounds he's taken while fighting that way.
Character History: Naor's family are part of a wandering tribe of dragons that present their eggs to random people they think might make good Riders. It was in this manner that Asa came to be presented to her egg along with that of her brothers and sister. After Naor hatched for Asa, they spent the next few years training with her mother, and when Naor was five years old, they were proclaimed by the elders of the tribe to be ready to leave. Naor wasn't really fond of the idea at first, but now she loves being on the road with Asa, even though she hasn't seen her family in awhile. She recently learned that her brother Melanthor and his Rider, Lee, have also left the tribe. She hopes to meet up with them soon.
Weapons: Teeth, claws, fire
Appearance: Naor is a light shade of blue that drifts through each shade of the sky. Asa often calls her the Sky Dragoness. Her body type is the exact opposite of her Riders. Where Asa is large and heavy, Naor is small and light. Despite her size, she has no trouble lifting and carrying Asa's bulk. Her wings aren't quite proportional to her size. They're larger than normal, Naor thinks this is because her Rider is so that her body developed them to be bigger to make him easier to carry.
Weakness/Fear: Naor fears for Asa's safety whenever he loses his temper.
Dreams: To go everywhere with Asa.
Reasons for Dreams: Asa is her Rider and she doesn't feel complete without him close by.
