This looks interesting and with potential to be rather innovative, but I'm wondering if Nintendo are going to repeat their mistake with the original Wii: they didn't take it far enough.

Fair enough, they made a lot of fun family games, but they didn't try and dig deep enough into gaming innovation that would touch the heart of the guy that is used to playing their PS3 or 360. Their attempts at tapping into popular franchises such as Call of Duty sucked because they tried too hard to appeal to gimmick loving children as opposed to making genuinely good video games.

They should go into more RPG and Adventure games with this new screen-in-controller thing. Playing Silent Hill, Final Fantasy or MGS with my inventory there in my hands would be nothing short of elegant; simple yet also very innovative.

I agree completely. The Wii's version of games like Black Ops paled in comparison to the real deal, and they really should have made something that they could take far. The Wii doesn't allow games like Call of Duty to reach their full potential, or on a more comparable level, the potential that Call of Duty has reached on Playstation and Xbox. That's what I thought the biggest mistake they did with the Wii was. It made me go: really?

However, I know that one good game from Wii (or at least in my opinion), Super Smash Brows Brawl, is coming back for a sequel on the Wii U. Unfortunately, it won't be out for a few years from what I've heard.

Well the wii U looks pretty sick. It's almost like nintendo combined all their game systems into one.
