Here is some history of a story I've been writing called Spirite Stories.

Spirana is a place of magic and mystery. Gems called Spirite are the very life source from which their world lives. Spirite is a colored gem, based on the type, and has a seal spiraling around it. There are different types of Spirite and each one is in a different Source. Each Source is gaurded by one of the beasts. (The beasts are like the human forms of animals.) The birds gaurd the wind Spirite, dragons the fire Spirite, fish protect the water Spirite, and beasts shield the earth Spirite. In the center of the elemental Sources is the life Source, or the source of the light Spirite. Each different type of Spirite gives different strengths; The wind improves speed and agility, fire grants strength, water grants intelligence and wisdom, and earth strenghtens endurance. Light Spirite, however, is the strongest of all the different types, because it can heal wounds, and gives power to the other types of Spirite. However, if Spirite gets into the wrong hands it can become tainted, and becomes dark Spirite. This Spirite instead of granting strength and life, takes the life of whoever touches it. If the thirst for power is to great, the dark Spirite can turn the bearer into a Nightshadow. They are usually granted immeasurable strength, but at the cost of their own spirit, and soul. They lose their own free will and is controlled by the one who controlls the dark Spirite. The only ones that can do this, however, are ones directly descended from the Ancients, or the ones who originally inhabitted Spirana.
On a small island off the coast of the mainland the land is dying. The king wishes to bring together an army to take the Spirite from the beasts and to use it to strengthen his people. However, he wishes to raises an army of Nightshadows and take over Spirana. Kahbehn, a young bird beast must journey to each land and unite the Spirite before it is all tainted. He knows little about himself and the land in which he must save, however, with each step he takes he learns more about the past of his world and his own. He leaves with only enough supplies to last a week, and a mysterious pendant the elder gave him. Each step he takes he also makes strong friends, and deadly enemies. His life changes throughout his journey as he must save Spirana from the evil threat that lurks.
