Post First, There Was Nothing....Then, There Was Silence
Raven stepped forward slowly, a misty wind of dust gently sighing as it passed in between the many rocks and pebbles that littered the ground. His boots made small crunching noises against the barren and lifeless soil as he edged around a dark mountain path.

Elric quickly put up his hood of fine silk, just as another gust of razor wind sent his tattered cloak afloat, and shivered past his skin as it went through his clothes. The area was now truly deserted, as there was nothing here, not the smallest amount of lichen to even have a hint of warm color. Even the blazing sun that shone overhead screamed as it's rays were repelled by the stormy and foreboding clouds that littered the sky.

A new blanket of cold covered Elric at the next corner, almost pushing him to his knees with it's emptiness.

Just a little farther, Raven thought to himself as he pulled himself up, bracing against the Staff of Otaku. He could almost see the blur that had clouded his hazy vision for the past few hours in this desolate place. He was already beginning to feel the arcane presence of magic, which was beginning to replace the spinal shivers that went up his back.

His next step sent what remained of the ledge plummeting down to the dark abyss above which he stood. He franticly stepped back, and braced himself as a fresh gale smashed him against the mountainside. The sharp rocks bit deep into his clothes, and Raven felt the warm trickle of blood run down his arm. He flinched, and collapsed on top of the ledge. He couldn't go on any more. If he pushed his body to far beyond it's limits, his heart would explode.

But I must go on!, he cried out to himself in his head. I must reach the border safely! He pulled himself up, holding the obsidian rocks for support. They gashed his gloved hands, but Raven didn't feel it. He was going to die, and he knew it. But at least he would make it to the border. If death came upon him within these lands, his soul would float around until it was captured by Galbatorix, instead of being absorbed into his staff.

Using the last resorts of Magic energy he had been storing, he pushed it into his swollen feet. The muscles compacted and tightened like bow strings. Elric started from a panting job to a breathtaking run. He was almost there, the magic border a few centimeters away, shining like the face of an angel.

The, Raven slipped. A fatal mistake. He cried out as he fell straight down, when suddenly, something grabbed his hand.

OOC: Hope this doesn't ruin things for you.

Micealæs looked down from where he stood. He had noticed earlier that he seemed to glow here, as if the place wasn't even real. But it was still treacherous, and he himself had nearly fallen prey to the elements several times. He hadn't even seen anyone else, but he had seen someone fall. He was too far to do anything. He closed his eyes, trying not to think.. Something clicked inside of him. We gave you wisdom; courage is yours to find. He whispered a word, and closed his eyes. The next thing he felt was the hand of the falling figure grasped in his own. He hadn't done a very good job with the spell; he was in an exceptionally akward position, and standing on a floating piece of rock that he had accidentally taken with him. But it had worked. He opened his mind, fearing that doing so with his mouth may break his concentration. Save your questions, fears, and feelings for later. For now, let's get out of here. He was tired from the spell, but fear kept him going. Why couldn't one of the gifts have been energy? He had tried to hold a shield up around them, but this very place was too strong. He had given in to simply bracing himself as best he could. He himself temed with questions for the other. Why was he here? But he held them, knowing that it breaking the silence could be their end.

OOC: Of course not! :o Not much I can write though...

Elric hung silently from a thread of a hand, one silky string holding up the foundations of a being, sure to fall down forever. He felt the powerful magic energy around them, but it has hardly noticeable to him. His senses were clogged up, and his mind was wavering. Since his running spell had not been completed, the reserves of Magical energy still trickled down like hourglass sands.

I have...to make the most...of my...strength, he thought to himself, his thoughts hazy like fog, yet slightly calm, like a peaceful ocean current.

I can feel...his power draining....if I panic, we will both die..., and Elric almost fell into a coma. But somehow, he was holding on to his life through the power of willpower alone. His heart began to pump faster, sweet, rich blood flowed into his brain, clearing his senses, and increasing his mental stability. Very slowly, as gently as was possible with the blades of wind that filled the heavy air, he reached down and felt around until he pelt one of the seven pouches on his chest. He stroked his had down to the fourth one, and with a click! opened it up.

The barrier that held him and his savior was disappearing, and Elric tried to contribute as best he could. As the blood drained from his head, he began to grow weaker, and was almost positive he wouldn't be able to retrieve the pebble shaped item from his pack. He brought the jewel up, and recognized it as the Diamond of Envy, one of the Artifacts of Seven Sins.

It was a precious item, carved from the purest of diamonds, infused with the graceful and most powerful of spirits, all who used the item in Envy. When Envy is used with the item, it is regenerated and the users soul is trapped within forever.

But with the last of his strength, Elric cracked the Diamond in his fist. He was using the symbol of Kindness within his heart, so the powerful gem didn't have to take a life. Power cruised through his body at supersonic speeds, and his heart beat faster than ever. Elric quickly used the power gained from the Artifact to teleport him and the savior away from the ledge. He closed his eyes, and muttered the words of power under his breath. There was a flash of light and Elric felt solid ground under him. All he could see was darkness. His heart began to beat very slowly, like a broken windmill. As he faded into the void, he realized that he never even saw his rescuer.

"Thanks," he muttered under his breath, and fell asleep.

OOC: Sorry, I went from detail to getting straight to the point. Oh, and if you find blue hard to read, tell me, i'll switch back.

OOC: Oh my god. What the... this is the third reply I've made to this. I swear if this one doesn't post... *sigh*. Blue is fine, by the way. >.>

IC:
Looking down on the figure sleeping next to him, Micealæs considered what to do. It had been a long time since he'd been exhausted like he currently was. Of course, it wasn't very often that he got out to do anything.. but he was too tired to think about it now. He laid down a considerable distance from the other and put up a very simple, almost costless spell of protection. All it did was wake him up if a living creature was within about 10 feet, or was about to harm him somehow. Being careful to move so that the sleeping man wouldn't trigger the ward, he laid down on the ground and rested peacefully...

Amazingly, he woke up to find that the man that he had rescued was still asleep. He must have had a hard journey. Simoro chuckled to himself. That was a hard journey? I'd hate to see my idea of an impossible one.

He then took a few moments to process the previous events. The gem.. what was it? He knew of many such gems that the grey folk had posessed. In fact, he had one himself, but they still had them. And then still, few, if any, could even come close to what the single diamond had done. He pulled out the gem that they had given him. It was small, about the size of an eyeball, and perfectly rounded. Its color, though, was its main attraction. It was constantly changing, sometimes so fast that it appeared to be all colors at once, sometimes so slowly that you could think that it was an ordinary sapphire, or ruby. Its energy capacity was enormous.. but that diamond.. he wondered if several of the Grey Gems, as they were often called, could even match that. He looked deeper into his knowledge of the past of Alagaesia... Something emerged, about a group of gems that represented abstract things, but he couldn't remember anything more. He gave up and dug a loaf of bread out from one of his bags. Breaking some off and laying it on the rest of the bag beside him, he ate it a little at a time, and waited for the person beside him to wake up.

Finally, he did. That was when Micealæs noticed the seven little pouches.. He made a note of that, but didn't mention it. He swallowed his current bite of bread and said, "And so the one who would challenge the elements awakes. I must thank you; you saved my life as much as I did yours. I am Micealæs." He gestured in the direction of the bag of food. "Help yourself to my food. I promise, I won't run out any time soon."

OOC: God, I keep wanting to say Simoro >.<

Reb was amazed at the sight she had seen. It had been a long time since she had seen anyone in the barren prison she was currently located. Star Gazer had been keeping out of sight. It had been at least a few months since she had seen other land. She was pretty much stuck here. Zantya's father had condemed them to an entire year in the place. For no apparent reason, execpt for that Zantya had almost killed Leth. Reb was used to the cold darkness that crawled through the air like gas. Zantya had often gotten them into some pretty lonesome snags, but this one was the worst. Besides it would be over soon. Reb then went out on a limb and transfered a fifth of her power to the man who had fallen. It would do him well. And she was interested in the gem he had used.

Post Re: First, There Was Nothing....Then, There Was Silence
OOC: Oh my, I'm so sorry, forgot about this, haven't been on for a long time >.<

Like a blast of cold winter air, Raven's mind erupted with the strangest of things. It was like he was reliving the past, but extremely quickly. images flashed past him like broken lightning, and in front of his eyes, he saw a blast of colors, enveloping him as he came back into consciousness. He couldn't open his eyes, but he managed a horrible groan that awakened his senses, the echo fading in his ears. First there was nothing...then, there was silence...

His eyelids felt like lead, but he managed to open them just enough to see his surroundings. All he saw seemed to be fog, and unless his mind was playing tricks on him, it seems dark shapes moved on the horizon. The fog was clearing up extremely slowly, but Raven could now make out the crags in the far distance. So, he was still alive, but his energy was perfectly dry, like a canteen left out in the morning sun. As if in answer, and small trickle of power hit him like a rock. He felt the surge, and looked in the direction it had come from. Fog still surrounded him, and he saw nothing. The amount he received was very little, as he shared it with the Raven within him, but it was enough to restore him to the point where he could move. It was truly awful, using an artifact like that. Utterly HORRIBLE, but it seemed it was worth it. He guessed that the one he had saved had survived as well, and Raven hoped that the man was not in the same condition as him.

He slowly sat up, and turned his head around. It throbbed, but he fought the feeling, but it was too much. He gave another load groan, and fell back down.

Reb went over to him. She decided she could spare some more energy and she gave him enough to at least stay concious. She then grabbed her pack and elevated his head. " Are you alright? Was anyone else here with you?" She asked worried and grabbed her water skin and offered him some. She then looked down at him worried. Was he alright?
OOC: Sorry it's short.
