New Star Trek Movie
If you know anything about Star Trek, or go for the sci-fi spaceship idea, you'll like this movie. Several entertaining moments for everyone, not just trekkies such as myself. I watched the original series and liked the young versions of the old characters. No huge casting misfires. Kirk and Spock in particular were quite good.
The story, well I'll not say anything about that. I have my problems, but that's because I'm a little nuts. Maybe I'll make a topic to express said feelings. Anyway, people who critique subjective factors of an experience are all sticks in the mud anyway. ;P I must say though, the old guy made the movie for me. ^.^
Spectacular effects, above average story, fan service, good acting. Fun for everyone, worth seeing in theatres. Not Oscar level, but enjoyable. I smell a TV show...
Anybody else seen it?

Re: New Star Trek Movie
Yeah I saw it a couple of weeks ago. I've never even seen Star Trek before, but my friends wanted to go so I tagged along and thought it was really good. I could actually follow the storyline for once Simon Pegg was awesome, I'd been looking forward to seeing him in it ever since he mentioned it on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross. Good accent too considering he's English not Scottish.

My gosh, my head nearly exploded from the shear epicness of it lol I loved it so much!! I'm totally getting it when it comes on DVD.
And yeah, when I saw Pegg in the previews before it even came out I was like "Yes!!! I'm so seeing it just because of him!!" That guy is so awesome

"What are you trained in?" "Fencing" *later* *pulls out sword that unfolds* I want one of them! lol @Kotor: I seem to remember reading a post like that from you a little while ago... what ever great movie, and because they effectively eliminated the time line from before there should be some more on the way that will be just as good

Well that's because I made most of the post in the "recent movies" thread. It's recycled. I saw it just for old Spock. I liked the Scottish guy as well... do you all know him from something else? yeah the timeline's screwed up, but whatever sells the product eh? Advanced combat training? ;P Ps: I like Jonathan Ross

Re: New Star Trek Movie
took me a while to figure out all the screw ups with the time changing and stuff, but in the end I got it and it was a pretty cool and funny movie.

Simon Pegg's awesome, I can't believe you've never seen Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz! He's been in loads of other stuff too, but not as good as those two films.
Oh, by the way did you hear, Johnathan Ross was arrested for shoplifting in Harrods kitchen department? He told the police he wanted to take the whisk. Not many people will get that...

Re: New Star Trek Movie
I didn't really like it. It was a good stand alone movie, but it didn't tie in with the series at all, that is mainly why I didn't like it. They changed the past of the characters, and therefore changed the futures, making everything form the Star Trek episodes of Captain Kirk not exist.

Re: New Star Trek Movie
I love this movie! I've seen a couple of the really old Star Trek eps. I think they're funny. My dad liked them, and he absolutely loved this movie even more than I do! It's hilarious.
But I like the new future thing. It lets them start a clean slate. Also, love the actors.
(I only just saw it like a month ago)
