Gornath and Anthor had been enjoying a vacation in the mouintains of the Hadarac desert. They were enjoying themselves completely when all of a sudden the ground beneath them started shaking. They quickly took to the air, once Gornath thought they were at a safe height they watched the ground, darkness began to flow up out of the hole, and hidious creatures began to come out. Gornath and Anthor didn't know what they should do. Anthor and Gornath began to attack those beasts,Gornath began to unleash monstrous fireballs at them, it didn;t even effect them, they didn't know how these beasts could be completely unaffected by his fire, then they knew, these beasts must be protected in some way aganst the regular fire attacks ,these beasts must have the power of darkness, but to what extent, at that moment, Anthor and Gornath called out with all their might to any and all dragons of the light to help them.

OOC: This is open to anyone, but preferably, dragons & dragonriders, and those with special abilities aganst darkness.

OOC: Hey, is it alright if these creatures are from the Shadow Realm, and some are of a species that Phal has faced before? (See my fanfic for details on the critter I mean; it's in Part Seven I believe.) That's just a plot idea, but you don't have to agree.

IC: Phalynx had been spending a few restful days at Faefnir's Fortress in the Desert, enjoying the hot sun and warm sands. It was the feel of the earth trembling beneath her that caused her to wake with a start. Her magical vision immediately picked up on a sudden outpouring of creatures from the shadow realm, and only miles from the Fortress. What foul magic is this?! I hope Faefnir gets back here, I'm not sure how I'll be able to defend the Fortress on my own! Phal thought anxiously. However, she had to fight to defend the area.

The star-colored dragoness was aloft in less than a second, and she darted through the large halls of the Fortress with unbelievable speed. She only paused briefly to open and shut the gate into the structure, and then was off. She flashed into the sky above the mountains for the clearest view of the beasts. She was immediately horrified by what she saw. No! Not them! she cried out loud, for a few of the larger creatures she recognized. They were the same thing as the tentacled demon-beast she had fought to the East to reclaim the Tribe Dragons' city. The beast had easily come close to killing her, and now there were at least a dozen, as well as countless smaller creatures, and more were coming.

Be careful! she screeched to the dragon and rider who were already there and attempting to fight the creatures. She let a massive torrent of silver flame escape her jaws and engulf the outpouring mass of shadow creatures. They shrieked in agony, affected by her magical starfire as they could not be by normal dragonfire. I have seen the large tentacled beasts before, and fought one. They try to kill through bloodloss. I'm not sure about the smaller ones, though. Fight with magic! she warned, radiating a blinding starry light to make the shadow beasts fall back.

OOC: If you don't want my plot addition of the tentacled things, just say so and I'll edit.

OOC: Dracoaestas it is your turn.

OOC: Yes. Yes it is.

IC: Phal jerked her wing out of the way when Shyara and her rider, along with Shyra, came crashing past. Phal shouted a brief and slightly amused greeting to them before letting out another torrent of flame. Silver light lit the rocky ground, injuring the beasts even more.

Phal had been given the power of the stars in order to protect Alagaesia and the rest of the world, and now her powers were truly crucial. Though other beings could use magic to harm these demon-beasts, they lost energy as they did so because they were using magic. Phal's starfire was a completely natural ability, and it cost her nothing to use it.

For that reason, Phal was getting into the heaviest fighting, knowing that the others might falter and lose energy too quickly if they fought in the middle of it.

Suddenly, a clump of wildly swinging, blade-edged tentacles flared up beneath her, catching her on her limbs and tail. Phal roared angrily, recognizing the very tactics one of their kind had already used on her, and it had been nearly successful. Now, there were dozens of the tentacled things, and more kept coming. The blades on the end of each tendril were well sharp enough to slice through dragonscale like water, and they were very, very good at finding large veins. They tried to bleed their quarry to death.

Stay out of range of the big ones' tentacles! she advised the others, hoping that they would not be caught and sliced to bits.

OOC: gees, it is like no one noticed that Shyara broke her wing in FOUR places.

Kit crawled over to where Shyra was laying and carefully rolled her over. Are you okay? he hurt to much to ask out loud.

Yeah, I'm alright; how's Shyara?

I don't know. Shyara, are you hurt very bad?

Yes, I can't move and my wing is broken in at least four places. Please hurry over here and heal the skin breaks, I realize that you can't heal the bone yet.

Okay, we are coming, hang on. Kit pulled Shyra to her feet and together they limped to where Shyara had crash-landed. They were far enough away that the creatures still hadn't gotten to them. Kit healed Shyara's wounds but did not take any energy from her.

What are we going to do, I can't fly with my wing broken. Do any of you up there know of a place where we could stay while this heals up? She asked the two dragons in the sky.

OOC: Phal's part of the Royal Family! (Though pretty much the youngest member, lol )

IC: Phalynx, distracted by the continually pressing enemies, did not notice when Shyara was injured by her crash. She only kept the shadow creatures away while they recovered. Luckily, Gornath had arrived to help them.

Go on ahead to the Fortress; I'll hold them off. When you get there, I'll let you in with the password, Phal shouted, clawing at a threateningly close tentacle. She snarled and blasted it away with starfire.

I doubt Faefnir will be there, he's been away since I got here. We may have to fend these things off by ourselves, she shouted, and then cried out when a tentacle-blade slashed her across the face. Phal's reflexive action was to flap a few dozen feet higher, and out of the thing's range, but she closed her right eye and held a foreclaw to her cheek and muzzle.

The scales and skin underneath had been sliced open by the razor-sharp blade, and blood was pouring down over her face and leaking into her mouth. It left a foul taste on her tongue, and she spat red.

Come on! We have to hurry! she cried, turning to the others. She let out another blast of starfire, hoping to deter their enemies.

With some help from Gornath Anthor was able to heal most ofthe wound and stopp the bleeding on Phalynz, then Gornath said loud enough for everyone to hear, " I can see it if only we can get alittle further!

OOC: Short...
& I know but I want more of the royal family, (Star/reb, Faefnir, Eril/Ermhest(sp?) and anyone I left out...)

OOC: I thought so.

IC: Phal blinked in gratitude to Anthor and Gornath when the pain on her face disappeared and the blood no longer troubled her. The entrance to the Fortress is just past those large rocks! she cried, backing up slowly in flight to give the others a chance to hurry along. She continued to pour down starfire on the shadow beasts' heads to deter them.

Phal sighed in relief when they finally made it. She let a huge blast of flame erupt from her jaws to buy some time and then was next to the gate in less than a second. She said the password to open it, and they all ducked inside.

Phal made sure the way was clear before she entered as well, and then closed the gate with relief. For now they would be safe. Okay, we can rest for now, and eat. But we can't live on borrowed time forever, we'll have to go out to fight them with or without more help. We may end up on our own on this one, my friends, Phal said, still breathing heavily from the fight.

OOC: Oo, big, deadly dark thingies. Can I join?

OOC: Certainly, Wayra. These beasties are especially dark, and can only be harmed with light magic. They're pretty darn ferocious. lol

OOC: So I've noticed.. Skylar's going to have a hard time with this one.

Skylar groaned, It always happens when I'm around.. can't happen miles away, no, dangerous things are always near me.. Just moments before he had crossed a dune, only to see the large, swirling black vortex in the sky. He saw a group of dragons and one human fighting off the horde of darkness chasing them down. Out of instinct he ran down the dune, heading for the group to help them. Oh, what am I getting myself into? Drawing his sword, he started to sprint for them. "I'm here to help, hold on!" As he neared, he realised that a regular fire spell wouldn't work, since the dragons had given up on breathing their deadly fire. Flanking the darkness, he held out his hand and shouted. "Eldrvarya garjzla!" A bright light bolt shot out from his hand, into the midst of the dark creatures. He stumbled from the effort, but kept running towards the small group, which was now behind the castle gates. This won't end well at all...

OOC: So I guess it is my turn.

IC: "Thank you so much Phal, I'm sorry we made a mistake and ruined what was going on. Could you do anything to make her heal faster, like you did with Syllwen when we first met?"

"I don't know if it is the same concept. From what you told me she as badly injured, am I right Phalynx?"

While you are discussing that, is there a place where I could lay down, I'm not feeling well, I think my lunch might pay me a second visit?

OOC: Just so you don't forget there are 3 questions needing answered.

OOC:Yes, you may but make sure you know what has happened and you have an idea abouot the "dark beasts". Oh, and its a human rider on my dragon and thay are comeong out o the ground, good post tho please edit it.

ICGornath and Anthor were so relieved when they, Phal, Kit and Shyara made it into the castle when they saw a lone (elf or human I dont know leme know please) attempting to flankl the beasts pouring out of the hole, just at that moment Gornath took to the wing and was flying strait toward the (elf or human or something) to pick him up and fly him into the fortress.

OOC: I think I've got a good idea about the dark baddies, and I edited my post a bit, I didn't read something right... and sorry about the elf-human mixup thing.. I think the name threw me off. Skylar's human, by the way, just with those slightly-pointed ears Riders get. Anyways, should I post now, or wait?

Skylar felt one of the tenticles grab his leg, and he tripped face first into the sand. Then he felt something else grab his middle, but it wasn't the tenticle, it felt rather scaley. Once he saw that he was being lifted off he ground, and out of the tenticle's reach. He looked up and saw a white dragon that was winging it's way towards the fortress walls. Uhh... hello?

"The name is Skylar.. hello everyone.." He looked around at the people gathered and covered the silvery insignia on his hand, as he usually did when he met others. He followed Phalynx inwards deeper into the Fortress, What a place, and in the middle of the desert, too.. Once he was done looking about, reality hit him. "You know, I have a quick question.. how much force can that big door back there take? Because there were a lot of those things out there.. Which brings me to my next question.. What are those things?"

IC:
Three huge draconic shapes could be seen through the desert haze. One was a deep amethyst, the second a bright ruby red, and the third a midnight black. The amethyst dragon studied the shadows coming up from the ground with his Soul Sight, and noticed several beings retreating into a Fortress type building. He told the other two about what he saw. Should we land and help them? asked the midnight black dragon. The ruby red dragon nodded her head. I think we should, she said. The amethyst dragon, who's name was Zeke, banked to his right and dove down to the entrance of the Fortress. As he got closer, he realized the beings he'd seen were Phal, Shyara, Kit, and Shyra. The fifth being he didn't recognize. Zeke hovered for a second, then landed on the sandy ground. The other two followed suit. He uttered a soft, low, friendly growl, not to threaten, but to gain Phal's attention so she'd let them in.

The ruby red dragoness shook her wings in annoyance as the wind covered them with a fine layer of sand. She snorted, clearing her throat of dust. She nuzzled the neck of the midnight black dragon next to her affectionately. I wonder when..... she told him silently. The black dragon smiled and nuzzled her back. I wonder too Fel, but we must be patient, he said. Fel, or Felena, swished her tail from side to side, making trails in the sand appear.

The midnight black dragon twined his tail with his mates. I know your eager Fel, he said. Fel smiled at him. I am, it's just so hard to be patient Eb, she said. Eb, or Ebony, chuckled and nuzzled her cheek with affection. Only time will tell, he said.

Sure, so the order is Me then draco, Kit, Wayra, then dragonslayer4, so that makles it Kit's turn.

Kit, along with the others' help, held Shyara's wing off the ground since she couldn't fold it shut all the way. Phal led them into a large room on what Kit guessed to be the side of the Fortress. "Okay, I'll start the healing spell and I'll try to help as best I can. As I'm sure you know, Shyara amplifies my magic, without using any of her energy."

Before Kit started the spell, Shyara asked, Can you please lay my wing out, this half-folded position is very painful.

"Yes we can. Help me lay her wing out guys." After a few minutes of adjusting Shyara's wing so that it did not hurt as bad, Kit asked every one to step back and to allow Phal to get up close. "Okay, waíse heill.

OOC: This might be one of those situations that you want Draco to go next real quick, because this applies directly to his character.

OOC: Draco it is your turn, because it was directed to her, then wayra it is your turn.

OOC: Okey dokey.

IC: Phalynx stepped into the room after letting Shyara, Kit, and Shyra in, but paused. I'll be right back, she said, and raced down the hallway to the gate. She couldn't allow the newcomers to be stranded outside with the shadow creatures. She quickly opened the gate and began shutting it when they came inside. Hello, everyone. I'll join you in a moment, right now I've got a healing to direct, she said to Zeke, Ebony, and Felena.

Phal was back in the healing room within the minute. Alright, let me see, she mumbled, bending low over Shyara's wing when it was pulled out. She quickly took control of the healing spell and used her sight to look inside the dragoness's flesh. She could see the bones, muscles, and tendons, and could see what had to be repaired. She began to tediously weave everything back together, careful not to leave anything torn or in the wrong place. I'm sorry, this is probably pretty painful, Shyara. Just a few more minutes and I'll be done, she said while she worked.

The bones she healed first, placing them back in alignment and melding them together. Then she had to place all of the connected tissues back into the right spot and repair damage to them as well. The entire process lasted for almost ten minutes, for Phal was being extremely careful to fix everything. Finally, she stood up, satisfied, and released the healing spell.

Is that better? she asked Shyara, stretching her leg muscles, which were cramped after crouching so long.

Skylar shrugged, seeing that they were occupied with Shyara, he was worried as well, but in the back of his mind he knew mending a wing wouldn't amount to much if those shadows managed to infiltrate the Fortress. I guess I'll see for myself.. He peeked back around the edge of the doorway, nodding to the newcomming dragons. "Hello, there, make yourself at home.." He looked past them and could see the gate was quite sturdy, and knew nothing was getting in anytime soon. He turned himself back around, and headed for where most of them were gathered, the healing. He arrived for the last few minutes, and when he saw Phal was done, he nodded. "Good job, I doubt many could've performed such a feat, mighty dragon."

Dragon slayer it is your turn you have to go or you will be skipped in two days.

OOC: Dragon you have been skipped we will continue with the regular order.

IC:Anthor and Gornath watched intently as Phal healed Shyara, they then went to explor more of the great fortress, they were amazed that only a few dragons lived there, it has supplies that could last for years. They marvled at the many wards set around the fortress, then they noticed that there was black fog streaming up out of a crack in the bottom floor of the fortress.

Short.

Shyara asked Kit and Shyra, I know things are going on, but will you two stay here with me, if I can't do anything you shouldn't be allowed to either? They said they would. Thank you.

Skylar peeked around the corner at Phal's disparture, then shrugged. He returned to the room and set his pack down in one of the cornerers, sinking down the wall as well. He didn't realise how much he needed the rest, he had been hiking for almost the whole day before running into the others. That and he hadn't casted a proper spell in awhile and it had taken a toll on his energy. He wasn't ready to lie down yet, however. "So, does anyone mind if I build a fire?"

OOC: Hey, this weekend I probably won't get a chance to get on, but Monday I will for sure. You'll just have to skip me, or wait, what ever works best, I will not be offended but sorry guys anyway. oh yeah, and I'm joined up with 17+ RPs so if these wound the same, they are

Of course we will help, we don't want shadow beasts killing us while we sleep. What do you need us to do? Anthor and Gornath steadied themselves as Phal began to use some of their energy to relair the ward and the stone.

OOC: Sorry for the God-mod, I hate doing that.........and, pass-turn. We need to get this back up and running, its really bogged down.

OOC: I don't mind, voenth.

IC: Phal slowly grabbed ahold of the torn edges of the ward and began to weave them back together again, using a little of Gornath and Anthor's energy to aide her. The ward fell back into place rather quickly; it hadn't been difficult to repair.

Alright, do you think you could repair the crack in the stone, Anthor? I'm afraid my expertise is limited to repairing magic. I'll give you some of my energy when you start, she said.

OOC: Pass for now.

When Skylar's ears met only silence he shrugged. "I'll take that as a 'No, I don't mind, Skylar.'" He piled up some logs and instead of using magic he used a traditional flint and tinder and got the fire going that way. Once the fire was bright and warm, he put himself next to it, enjoying the heat radiating from the fire. "Ahh, much better.." He withdrew a small chunk of salted meat from his bag, pierced it on one of the spare bits of his firewood, and began to roast it.

Ebony, Zeke, and Felena quickly entered the Stronghold and closed the doorway. Ebony shook himself to get rid of the sand, then looked around.
Hello everyone. There are some here I do recognize, and some I don't, so I'll introduce myself. My name is Ebony. The ruby red dragoness next to me is my mate, Felena, and the blind amethyst dragon behind me is Zeke, he said, dipping his head.

Hello, said Felena, also dipping her head.

Zeke flinched slightly as Ebony introduced him as "blind". He hated that. He quickly shrugged it off though.

Anthor placed his palm on the crack in the stone and shouted, gath'deloi (which in leiterally unite earth lol)

Skylar looked up from the fire with a raised brow. "Calm down, boy. We're in the middle of the Hadrac desert, the biggest scar on Alagaesia. It's a wonder even this place is out here. I doubt they've made it to any large settlements. I doubt they've even seen anything since they started heading outwards. And even then, I'm sure most of them are trying to focus their attention on getting in here." He pulled the bit of meat away from the fire and sank his teeth into it. After swallowing he shook his head, and set the meat back over the fire. "We'll get our chance to fight back soon enough, I'd think."

OOC: It is dragonslayer4's turn isn't it?

OOC: I believe so.

OOC: Your turn Kit.

"Finally. Shyara, are you well enough to move now?"

Yeah, good as new. She pushed herself to her feet and walked out to the entrance hall, with Kit and Shyra's support.

OOC: Wayra your turn, you have to post or you will be skipped.

Skylar shrugged and pulled the now done meat off the fire. He rubbed his stomach after finishing the small meal, then rolled up his pack into a makeshift pillow. He let out a sigh of a relief as he set his head down, savoring the sleep to come. Of course, as soon as he was about to drift into his dreams, he heard Phal in his mind. He got up and grumbled, "Or not.." He picked up the pack, kicked out the fire, and headed to the enterence.

Anthor continued to seal up any holes he found and got ready to help Phal.

OOC: Hey, look at that it is! lol Perhaps DS4 should just post when she can, seeing as it'll probably be a little difficult for her to stick to the order and post on time. That is if you want to, DS4.

IC: Phalynx stood silently at the entrance chamber until everyone had joined her. They all stood, waiting to hear possible plans of action. Phal knew that this would be a very large task for such a small group, especially because very few of them had ever fought shadow creatures before. Phal was the most experienced in that department. Fighting them alone was a nightmare.

Alright, so first lets get out the things we know. First, about the shadow creatures themselves. I believe these ones are of the "pure" variety, in that they cannot be harmed by any physical attack of any kind. Most magic is useless against them, but light magic is extremely effective. Light weapons can destroy them as fire or acid would destroy us. There are two main types that I've seen; a bit tentacled type with powerful jaws and blades at the end of the tentacles that can cut through dragonscale, and swarms of little crablike ones that have really sharp jaws. You will all need to keep their strengths and weaknesses in mind when we fight them, Phal began, spewing out everything she felt might be useful.

The shadow mist blocks out all forms of light, but some magical light can penetrate it. Unfortunately, only a rider specializing in light magic would be able to part the shadow mists. Gornath and I, both with light abilities, can do it as well. I know I can do it without loss of energy, Phal continued, deciding to explain about the creature's main weapon for attack and defense.

So, with that in mind, I fear a straight on attack would be futile and very foolish, for there are a huge number of them. It is too large for us to destroy with our limited weaponry. I suggest we sneak out another entrance and take them out in surprise attacks, and when they figure out what's happening and start to fight back we leave and wait for another opportunity to strike again. That's the most detailed I have thought this through so far, and any ideas at all would be appreciated. Does anyone else have any questions or suggestions for our strategy? Phalynx finished at last.

Skylar bit his lip thinking on what everyone had said. "While a surprise attack would be a good idea, we'd only have the advantage for a moment. And even if we keep killing them, they'll keep comming out of that portal." He rubbed his chin, thinking for a moment. "One of us should probably find a way to stop the source of the dark.. things. We should give them a name, too. Anyways, is there anything use in the fortress that might help? Or, these Star Stone things you are talking about, Shyara, maybe a large dose of those into the hole the dark beings are comming out of will close it?"

Being in so many threads at once is very taxing on the brain for ideas. Sorry. I might come back if some of the other threads go into the Archive, but otherwise, you probably won't see me.

Anthor said, "I will be back, I should get some of this stone into my blade to help against the beasts." He leapt into the portal and went to the star stone. He used some magic to pull some huge hunks of it away and sent them through the portal. He found a large piece and used his magic to seal some of it away in his blade to help him in the future against the shadow beasts if ever he needed it.

Gornath just sat there and waited as Anthor went and gathered the star stone he didn't need the star stone, he was naturally equiped to fight against the shadows.

OOC: yeah I can do that, be good so you can get back.

OOC: I get on, but rarely have more than three-four minutes to do anything..... But, today I am here alone, so I am going to try to get caught up with my replys.

With his blades glowing slightly, Anthor walked over to Gornath and said, "Well, are we ready to go or not, I would dare say that the shadow beasts are nearing the edge of the Hadarac and will soon be in the Beors, Surda, Du Weldenvarden, and the Empire. We shoudl hurry if we are to stop them, else we may lose this fight." Said Anthor anxious to start the fighting.

Anthor is right, even though we are all great flyers, if we do not hurry, the shadows will spread over the entire world, I do not think any of us other than maby Phalynx have had enough experience with them to truly know their limits, and I have had more even than the rest here. We should hurry.

Anthor leapt upon Gornath with agility that was amazing for one his age. He said, "What are we waiting for, I am not getting any younger, nor am I going to be hunting them for longer than a week.

Gornath let out a roar of joy and hurled himself and Anthor into the air, they circled high in the skys above Phalynx, Shyara, and Kit. He knew that he and Anthor were perfectly suited to this type of fighting, nearly nienty years of flying and fighting while in flight was more than enough experience.

OOC: Pass, sorry.

OOC: Are these the more physical shadows or the completely shadow?

OOC: It is a mixture of both, though there are more pure shadow.

OOC: Yep, so only light magic works against them. lol I'm stating the obvious, but I wanted to make sure you're reminded.

Shyara followed her aunt, burning creatures and melting sand as they went. They had frozen several in place and were finishing up on the last of the three huge groups, though the were still several smaller ones loose, when Shyara heard a dragonic roar that was oddly familiar.

She stopped, turned around, and gasped in horror; behind them, coming up fast was three Shadow dragons. But the thing that disturbed her was the fact that they were their shadows. Out of sheer curiousity Shyara looked straight down to where her shadow should have been, it was gone, so was the others.

Wait, stop, she said to Phal and Gornath, Someone has taken our shadows and turned them into Shadow Creatures!!! There is one of me, Kit, Shyra, Phal, Anthor, and you Gornath.

OOC: now things get interesting

OOC: Only slightly, Gornath as well as Phalynx are specialists against shadows, but I will let it be a hard battle.

Anthor turned at Shyara's warning and cursed silently. He began to shoot arows at the shadow Anthor and Gornath and found that it did not affect them. He yelled angrily and drew his swords. He leapt off of Gornath and stood on the ground, ready for the oncoming battle.

Gornath, looked and saw the shadows coming toward them. He angrily formed a huge ball of white fire and plasted the shadow beasts, stuck in the frozen glass. He killed the majority of them, and flew straight for the shadow dragons.
