the reason that the movie didnt follow the book very well is because it was so shor. 1 hour 45 minutes. eragon needs at least 2 hours 45 min to do the storyline properly. it isnt the director or CP or the actors fault, its foxes for not giving them enough funding and it made the movie really short. they had to cut out parts and change parts so they could get through the whole book.



also i have some insider info on why they changed the gedwey ignasia (seriously my friends mom is a movie critic)

they changed it because fox wouldnt give them enough funding to do the silver oval. so they had to make it a scar thingy.

They did cut out a lot and changed a lot. I enjoyed it regardless.

I was disapointed about how they left out the giant diamond thing. D:

funding was not the issue, priority was the issue...

priority? Priority should have been giving the fans something closer to the story. Even HP and LOTR was closer than this.
They could have done 1 movie from the beginning of the book until when Brom dies, and a second from then until the battle at Farthen Dur, and still left out half of the book. (I know it wouldn't have happened, just making a point)
Fox let themselves down. They could have made alot more money off of this film if they would have put more effort into the important aspects of this movie.

maybe they spent half of the funding on Saphira only (?)

it's so far from the book.. when the credits rolled, me (and most of the audience) stay sit in our seats with open mouth: "that's.. it ?"

I wonder did Fox ASKED CP first of which events are important and which are not. Coz since its a trilogy they should hold on to the story plot !!

It makes me think was "katrina, elva, solembum, and the dwarfs, were not important roles??? Were their absence cause nothing to the whole story????"

I remember what the director said pn Fox Promo trailer, "this is not the world of Harry Potter, this is not the world of LOTR, this is the world of Eragon."

b******* !! Eragon world has dwarfs, beors, (pointy ears) elves, REAL urgals (instead of ugly big people with body painting), hadarac desert, and was it only me or the Spine doesn't give any chill-what-so-ever?? (compare the scene to forbidden forest in HP for example)

im saying fox didnt fund the producers and directors enough, they had lots of things they wanted to do, but couldnt.

stop comparing ok plz(no offence) but the movie is different some bits i found dissapointing but others i found were brilliant. the movie usaully is neva as good as the bok but i think that sometimes u just ahve to forget the book and enjoy the fact that some parts of it became reli and stop mooping around complaining about it!! Yes, it's true that the movie is almost never as good as the book and I realize that most directors/producers have a limited budget and it's not their fault. However, this director must have been on crack and/or another nasty something. Eragon(remix:lol:) was so ridiculously far from the book, so corny, so plot-less, so digressive that there is no other explanation!!! Well actually there is another possibility. That the director is a drunk, high, mentally-ill penguin that has never read the books, and for that matter doesn't know how to read. Yes, I think this one is probable....

the movie was poorly made, the saddle for saphira was suppose to have belt like things on it, it wasn't suppose to be a maximized horse saddle, and Murgtah was suppose to hit the shade in the forehead, not eragon, and the shade wasn't suppose to make a dragon of dark magic and saphira almost die because of it, the battle wasn't even suppose to take place on dragon back, it was suppose to happen in a big room

i could go on forever on what they did wrong here

yer i,m half way through the book and its not the same as the movie but i still think the movies great it made me jump loads.

The movie had like... nothing to do with the book except the characters. But I loved it anyway- once I stopped comparing it to the book.

Only one part really got me as brilliant. That was when Brom was dying and Saphira let him ride on her back so he could die like a true rider. that was really touching!
But if you didn't read the book i think it would have been better. my little bro loved it. since it was my favorite book and one of my favorite characters{Solembum}was left out, i was angry!

Yeah, there were things that they could've improved on in the hour that they had. But I still enjoyed it.
