Hobsyllwin; a new dragon

Name: Hobsyllwin (Syllwin for short; she hates her full name)

Age: Four years old

Gender: female

Skills: Hobsyllwin breathes ice. She can use her ice breath to freeze her enemy on contact. It can come out as icicle shots or a powerful icy breath. She’s fast when it comes to fighting. She can quickly go through battle moves in her head that she taught herself right before she delivers the blow. It’s definitely useful in the air when she’s battling flying foes. She’s a fast flyer when she flies very high in the sky. Syllwin is used to the cold, unlike most dragons, and has larger lungs to sustain her air supply in such high altitudes. It helps when she’s planning to escape from enemies who are too much for her. Syllwin can create illusions, she discovers later in her life. She can manipulate the air around her at times to make her opponent see whatever she wants them to see. It’s only limited to a certain extent. She is still learning, and often saps a lot of her strength when she uses an illusion.

Race: Dragon; a loner/wild

Eyes: One ice blue eye and one bronze/gold. Syllwin blue eye actually changes color with her mood, whether she is happy, angry, confused, sad, or enraged. Usually, blue means she’s neutral. Crimson is angry, green is confused, gold is happy, purple is sad, black is uncontrollable rage, and when she’s in love the eye flashes many colors.

Character Personality: Hobsyllwin is smart. She knows when to escape from danger if it’s too much and she definitely knows how to take care of herself when the going gets tough. She would rather take the hard road rather than having to find the easiest way to accomplish something. She doesn’t take anything from anybody and she’ll know how to fight back if provoked, though she knows when she is outmatched. She’s quick-witted; she likes to outsmart her foes rather than fight them if necessary. She knows how to twist words around if someone’s taunting her. Smart aleck is at the top of the list. Syllwin likes to be witty and at the top of her game; she doesn’t care what others think. She acts out rebelliously and prefers to act like herself. Even though Syllwin sounds arrogant and hotheaded, she is definitely a planner. She will not go anywhere recklessly unless she has seen every angle of the situation. That also makes her suspicious of everyone too. Syllwin’s trust level had dropped, due to her past. She won’t trust anyone unless they prove they can be trusted. This may be a weakness, because she is overly cautious about certain things and sometimes it’s better to act out quickly before it’s too late to help. There are good qualities to her as well. She may seem coarse on the outside, but on the inside, Syllwin is understanding and wise. She doesn’t mind giving out advice when someone isn’t sure what to do. Though she is at a young age, she loves to learn as much as she can by writing and reading. She prefers making up her own stories to pass the time, since she travels alone. This doesn’t stop her from fighting against the injustice and evil. Syllwin despise Galbatorix and will fight anyone who is a bully like him.

Character History: Syllwin’s ancestral history is unknown to her, and the same goes for her parents. She has no idea where she came from, but she knows she was born in the north. She remembers there was ice and snow everywhere from her earliest memories. She knows her name, only because she heard it used outside of her egg, possibly from her mother. Syllwin didn’t start flying until a month after her hatching. She figures she is part ice dragon because of her ice breath, which she received about three months after hatching, a tad earlier than expected in a young dragon, though it is not rare. The other half of her heritage remains a mystery. Ever since she hatched, Syllwin has been able to fend for herself, whenever she needed to be. She has often lived in the north, for the cold had comforted her whenever she was lonely. That was when she decided to begin her traveling. Syllwin knew that there was more to the world than her icy world. She set out for Carvahall, hopefully, in search of something better. Along the way, she had discovered stories and things of legends that peaked her interest. She couldn’t get enough of it and she did all she could to fill her head with the words. Syllwin even came up with her own stories to keep herself occupied. When she continued her long journey, humans near Carvahall captured her who are under the rule of Galbatorix. Galbatorix learned of her ice breath, and he wanted her to be part of his ‘collection’ of unique dragons. She was tortured for at least a year, in the hopes of breaking her. Syllwin ended up becoming so withdrawn within her; she became a completely different dragon. She wasn’t happy-go-lucky optimistic Syllwin anymore. She had become sarcastic, a deep thinker, and filled with suspicion and distrust of anyone she didn’t know. She had managed to escape, discovering her power of illusions. It had taken every ounce of her strength to conjure up a distraction, but she pushed herself onward, fast and out of the castle. The humans were too late; by the time they figured out she escaped, Syllwin had vanished into the dark, clear and starry night. From then on, she has learned not to trust anyone.

Weapons: Her teeth, used for biting and tearing, her tail for the usage of whip, and claws of course, for blunt attacks. She also uses her wings for getting out of sticky situations and more efficient traveling purposes. Syllwin has ice breath, for she learns she is part ice dragon. She later discovers that she has electricity breath.

Likes: - Syllwin likes writing and reading. She loves to research knowledge and soak her brain in the words of legends and stories. Syllwin wants to become a scholar for dragons everywhere one day, hopefully, when Galbatorix isn’t in rule. She absolutely loves to swim, even though she also prefers the cold winds of the mountains in the north. Most of all, she would rather avoid trouble if she can help it.

Dislikes: - She detests narrow-mindedness, hypocrisy, selfishness, and the evil wrought upon the world. Syllwin also doesn’t like being out of the know; she wants, needs, to know what is going on.

Animal Companions: - None yet

Character‘s Physical Description: Hobsyllwin is quite large, but sleek; she appears very muscular for a female dragon. She has pearly-white scales with a silver tinted underside. She has one very ice-blue and another that is bronze/gold. She doesn’t understand why they are mismatched, but there is a fire that burns within them and a magic that stirs. Syllwin has very large, thick and powerful wings that help her through the cold air in the north. Her teeth are like needles; they’re not very big except for two large canine teeth hidden.

Dreams for the Future: - Syllwin hopes to see peace restored to the land and possibly find a purpose to good instead of being kept in the dark. She doesn’t want to be alone all of her life, even though she is anti-social by nature even before she was captured by humans. Her biggest wish is to get even with Galbatorix, who was in charge of the men who captured Syllwin and tortured her. She wants to avenge all the dragons that died at his hand as well.

Reason for Dreams: Syllwin doesn’t like to see darkness spread over the land. She doesn’t want everything and everyone enslaved by one evil being. She wants happiness and life to flourish, instead of fear and decay. She’s sick of the way Galbatorix treats everyone, and she can’t stand bullies. She learned that from being captured.
