I have begun a story about shadows, and how they affect a land. This is only 1/4 of the prologue, and i shall add more later.


Prologue: Shadows

Shadows, those merciless things, lying there were no light penetrates. They wait, creeping up the walls and ceilings of the past and the present. Try not, you will never find them their, for they are elusive, and if one dares venture into the Void of Time, a parallel world than that of most, they will find themselves flying through the air and seeing the face of Death, for no mortal can pass through the inky realm. Only the gods dare to take one step in, their immortal aura being blotched out by the millions of fear particles. Yes, fear, the strongest form of the shadow. It creates pure panic to pure mortals, and may sometimes steal the power of Death and use it without mercy, their faces gone and replaced by your greatest fear, which is their greatest strength. They then eat away at that fear, which can drive any mortal, pure or not, insane and kill them by using their confused minds against them.
But yet, shadows are also loyal to their masters, like them or not. They follow their every step and seem to do nothing of harm. It was believed by mortals that shadows were just the places where the suns rays cannot reach. This was thought true for many years, and feed the peoples minds, letting the shadows live in peace and harmony, often causing mortals to do things that seal their doom.
But this was, of course, their greatest downfall, bringing shadows to the lowest level of things for humans. The black figures on the ground were once worshipped, but now they were nothing, like a fly in an endless room. The humans began to learn about their plans, often through dreams and actions, but most of the time, visions. It was not uncommon for a person to fall at any moment, rubbing their temples as images ran through their minds. Each mortal got a different vision, pieces of a puzzle that could never be solved, no matter the work.
The gods, unlike mortals, had no shadows, for they had banished them long ago, sealing the dreadful things in the Void of Time. Though they could never find their shadows again, they kept trying. Some even died by going too far into the Void. Many thousands of years passed, humans paying less and less attention to their shadows, who began to creep away.
Some of the mortals began to notice, all in the same part of the world. The first man, Zen’cin, visited the Hermit, a sorcerer who used shadows. The Zen spoke to the mage, telling him all that he saw happening around him. The Hermit listened closely to the tale of dying livestock and people. Zen wanted to talk to his shadow to see if it knew what was happening to shadows of the land.

Impressive. I enjoyed reading it and want to see (or read) more of it. Nice begining.
