First I thought that way too! But then i realized that it wasn't "under the tree" at all, it's nowhere on the tree! So that transformation must be not the one Solembum meant, even i must say.. it's great, the transformation.

A passage from when Eragon beholds the Menoa Tree:

Eragon first beholds the tree as a mother for the entire forest. He understands that this is the tree in which he will find his weapon but Saphira tells him that "I doubt that Solembum's words will make sense until our need is clear."
Now the need is clear; Eragon needs a sword.
Because of this simple fact, many people assume that it will be either Brom's, Eragon's (the elf), or Vrael's sword that will be under the Menoa Tree. Vrael's sword was probably destroyed by Galbatorix because Rhunon, the smith, said that Galbatorix was able to destroy her creations. Brom's sword is still a possibility because it was said "Brom . . . I remember Brom. He begged me to replace the sword he had lost." This allows the possibility that his sword is somewhere. Also, although it is never mentioned that Eragon ever had a sword or even went to war, Eragon may have left a treasure hidden under the Menoa Tree. Only time will tell.

The problem with Brom's sword is that it probably didn't go under the menoa tree. Brom, who had seen the tree, probably would have been able to know if it went there. His sword probably fell into a pit or somewhere Brom had never seen or else he could have scried it. It is unlikely that his sword actually is under the tree.

i don't know, I think that it is deffinatlely a sword, but then again that is an obvious item... so it could be a list a spells, and enchantments that only the eldest rider's knew about, and when Galby turned against them they buried it there for safe keeping just in case they were able to beet the foresworn, and they could have told Soleumbum, and Maud(Islanzadi's werecat) that they had hidden the forbidden magic, so that if the Rider's returned from the fall they could live on(if they were good and Eragon is) but if it is a sword than I think that it will probably be Brom's or Eragon's(elf) becasue eragon and Brom grew to be great friends, and the Eragons share the same name and they were both the new generation of riders... if you discount Galby because he's just plain evil.

I forget, when was the menoa tree start to grew there? I mean if it's true taht the sword is litterally burried under its roots, it should be burried long long long time ago when the tree wasn't even there yet. Or sumthin like that.

Hi all! well, i think that the thing under the menona tree is a sword with a magical property. Then when Eragon goes to the vault of souls, he will find the spirits of the Riders of old. The riders will bind themselves with the sword and give Eragon fighting powers. It's like Excalibur. It's just a theory.

Both of u (shade and unicorn) i like ur ideas. If i concluded from what u said, the sword must be burried a long long time ago under the tree and on it binds the soul of the old riders... couldn't be better.

I beleive that before the first eragon died he 'sang' into the menoa tree as the elves can. I think that he sang his sword into/ under the menoa tree until his predecesor comes (eragon) to take the sword for himself.

Chances are it will be a sword, true.. But...
Theory 1: it could be the name of the ancient language.
Theory 2: Or it could be Galby's true name.
Both of these are powerful weapons, and Lifaen(sp) is old enough to know his name, and mabey even the name of the language.
Theory 3: It is a sword made by they grey folk.
No one knows what happened to the fabled "grey folk." They could have evolved past physical forms, and have deposited a sword there by some other way.
Theory 4: It will be the location of the grey folk's home.. What if it was under the tree, deep in the earth, and the tree was kind of a gatekeeper? He could find an unabridged dictionary of the ancient language, or their weapons!

I'm voting like many others say; it may be the first Eragon's sword which will have a lot of power or a scroll with vital information in it. (Spells, the ancient language's name, Galbotrix's real name, etc) There's a world of possibilities.

I think that on a scroll, the menoa tree's roots will spell out the true name of somebody, and under the real menoa tree will be a new sword personal to Eragon.

i like that idea. it is intresting. i don't think he's had a real chance at studying the scroll from oromis.

guys every body im new and i know cp and i no what is going to be under the menoa tree its going to be a special blue sword and bow and shield made just for eagon this is how it got there= 70 years ago maud the were cat told the elven smith to make a sword and shield to the best of her ability and make it unmatched by any of the other swords she has made and that's whats under there

I KNOWthere is a piece of that metal that they use to make dragonrider swords. And I'll give you a hint eragon uses it to make a new sword called brisingr. And when he say's brisingr the blue fire surrounds the sword. It is so cool I can't stop thinking about it.
