Ryker
Name: Ryker
Gender: Male
Race: Werecat
Age: Unknown. He's about middle-aged for a werecat, but appears to be 15 when in human form.
Skills: Shapeshifting: Ryker can switch between his human and werecat forms with extreme ease with no consequences, although he tends to use only one form when in large cities or fighting. He can also change his human's appearance however often and in whatever way he wants, but he doesn't, instead opting for the same face and features whenever he switches. (He's got a handy knack for keeping his clothes on when he transforms so he doesn't have to worry about that when he switches. However, he has a special belt that he can tighten and untighten with his teeth to carry his knife when he's in his cat body, since that doesn't switch with him. He usually wears this belt around his middle.)
Hand-to-hand: Ryker is small in stature as a human, like all werecats, but he is incredibly strong in his human form, disproportionately so. He can lift extraordinary amounts. Because of this strength and his training in all types of martial arts, he is hard to beat head on. Basically his only weakness in hand-to-hand are larger opponents, or faster ones. (Though since he's a cat, he's not exactly slow.)
Werecat Weirdness: Like all werecats, Ryker just seems to know everything, even things he shouldn't. He can sense hidden presences. He can also sense Riders and bonded dragons, even when their partners are not present, simply from the residual magic that resides in them that was created from the bond. When an unseen person joins minds with someone in his presence, he can sense that person. (Like when Illuna joined minds with Sasha in Luck in Loss, and he knew she was there, even though she was too far away to physically sense and he wasn't in contact with Sasha's mind.)
Home Village: A hidden pride of the werecats in the Spine
Parents: Ryond, father; Wersn mother
Siblings: 1 brother, 2 sisters
Character Personality: From the time he was a young kit, Ryker was trained to be a fighter. As such, he is a very quiet being, preferring to watch and listen to try and determine any dangers around him. Because of this quiet observation, he tends to pick up a lot in the minds of the beings around him, simply from body language. He is loyal to his friends and will help them with anything they ask, so long as it is not something that goes against his morals. He does have a playful side, but that is rarely seen if he is involved in something important. This side of him is usually only seen when he is relaxing somewhere, though he's not opposed to the occasional quip at the expense of an enemy. People that don't know him tend to think he's a little cold and maybe even a threat, but if he finds you trustworthy, he will eventually open up.
Character History: Werecats aren't much on royalty or nobility, but if Ryker had been born into a human family, he would have been considered on the very high end of the nobility. As such he was trained harder to be a protector for his people and he grew up very fast. He spent many of his younger years fighting against young toms from other families and distinguishing himself as a warrior, as well as an intellect. He had a knack for finding out things he shouldn't, like all werecats, and eventually it was decided that he was to serve the werecat race by spying on Galbatorix's soldiers in Gil'ead. However, being a werecat, he didn't take well to orders and abandoned the post. (Not that it mattered much, he only left because he knew he wasn't the only werecat there.) When he left he decided to travel around and found out what he could about Alagaesia. He is particularly interested by dragons, and where he goes, dragons eventually turn up. His favorite place that he has visited so far is the Hadarac Desert, since his feline form blends in so well to the sandy dunes. Despite his long, shaggy coat, he also enjoys the heat. When he first wandered into the desert, he underestimated how far it was to the next source of water and nearly died of thirst because of his mistake. Luckily when he eventually passed out, there was a band of warriors from the hidden city of Vereshae nearby, and they stumbled upon him. After he was nursed back to health by the people in the city, he decided to stick around and help them out however he could. It is in this way that he comes to be with a scouting party and stumbles upon the wolf Sasha, her companions the twins Illuna and Soleil, and the dragon Valora.
Appearance: Though he has the ageless appearance of all werecats, if pressed one could say he appears to be 15. In his human form, his sandy-colored hair hangs slightly passed his ears, is wavy, and always mussed up. Since his time in the desert his skin has become tan. When moving around as a human, he wears short pants with ragged cuffs and a light brown shirt. His human body is short (about 4'5") and thin. In both his human and feline forms, his eyes are a deep sapphire blue (unlike most werecats, he likes to keep his appearance consistent, so unless he's hiding his identity this and everything else about his appearance remains the same.) When he is moving around in his feline body, his fur is long and shaggy. He's a dark brown tabby that blends in well with the desert. His feline body is huge, just over twice as big as a bobcat.
Weapons: When fighting as a human, he has a long-bladed dagger that he wears strapped to his left leg. The blade is a special mix of metals, the predominant being steel, that prevents it from breaking unless under extreme stress. (Which is handy, considering how strong he is.) As a cat, his weapons are his claws (not to be mistaken for the common housecat, he can do serious damage with these) and fangs.
Dreams for the Future: He just wants to travel around, meet a few dragons, and learn things he shouldn't.
Reasons for Dreams: He's a cat, he hates to feel tied down, so he moves constantly. Dragons are almost as interesting as werecats, in his opinion. He scoffs at the idea of curiosity killing the cat, and lets his own show him where to go.
Alignment/Side: He doesn't really have one, but evil people should think carefully before considering attacking the Werecat race.
