A long life span doesn't make you immortal, it just makes you live long. Elves aren't immortal either, that just have very long lives. And Eragon is still half human, he isn't immortal.

elves are immortal, they are just vulnerable to the maladies of the flesh. and Eragon has the same attributes as an elf.

he's NOT half human. he's human with all the added atributes of an elf, which were given to the elves by the Dragons after hundreds of years. (i.e immortality, strength, sences, etc.)
