Post The Trilogy of Gryphon'
Okay, so mostly right now this is just an idea in my very weird mind. (Actually I've got part one just about ready to get published. Yay ^?^)

It's a bit like Romeo and Juliet, but a little different. Let me know what you guys think, please, after I tell you the plot.

So there's this king named Jacques' de Gryphon', and his wife has a daughter when they're in their early twenties. Twenty years later the daughter gets married and has a child. BUT, then Jacques and his wife have another child (I know, it's a stretch for them to have a kid in their forties, but it's a miracle child). The second kid is a boy and they call him David, naming him after the king from the bible. EVeryone is excited because the kingdom finally has an heir.

But like a year after David's born, ther kings' daughter and her husband get attacked at their castle a few kingdoms' over. Their son surrives, so the king sends for the boy, Perseus Stone.

Perseus is raised with David de Gryphon, and they get along pretty well even though Perseus is older. But then the king dies, so there's total confusion over which of the boys inherits the throne. Eventually Perseus tricks David into going on a pointless quest, so while he's gone Perseus fakes Davids' death and thus the kingdom goes to himself.

David returns to find Perseus as the king, and he goes off to plot "Revenge". During the time that David's away Perseus gets married and has a daughter named Mellodi. Meanwhile David also gets married and he has two sons, Wyvern de Gryphon' and Drake de Gryphon'. The two boys help David plan to take over the castle, and one day Wyvern gets sent to spy on the king.

Mellodi, having gotten tired of being in the castle at all hours, disgiused herself and went out amongst the townsfolk. She gets attacked by some bandits, but Wyvern helps her. They become friends and, by extention, wind up falling in love.

Meanwhile Mellodi has a friend named Feather who Drake has fallen head over heels for.

Wyvern continues to plot with his father to take the castle and, eventually, they manage to. Melodi never actually sees Wyvern during the siege, so she has no clue that he or Drake are part of it. She escapes, as does Feather, and they flee to the forest.

Wyvern and Drake both sneak out of the castle to have some boyish fun one day and, while in the forest, they run into Mellodi and Feather. The girls tell them that they used to live at the palace and try to covince them to help with a siege.

Wyvern and Drake are, of course, flabergasted. They agree to help, but on the condition that they themselves won't actually be present for the battle, claiming that they'll be elsewhere during it.

On the day of the battle they side with their father when he's watching, and with Mellodis' army when she's watching. However, at some time during the battle, they both nearly get killed and wind up with amnesia.

They each had a locket, Wyvern had one with his name on the back and a picture of Mellodi inside, and Drake had one with his name on the back and a picture of Feather inside.

They awake to find each others' lockets and Wyvern thinks that he's Drake and so starts trying to find Feather, and Drake thinks that he's Wyvern and so tries to find Mellodi.

Eventually they both find who they're looking for, and that sets off even more chaos and confusion.

What do you think? I know it's cliche-ish, but still. It's a three-part short story really. Trust me, it has a great ending ^?^ Let me know how you like it ^?^

Well it's always good to have a story on the line (I know how difficult it is). Questions are though, is this just historical fiction? Also, places you know are cliche you should steer away from. What kind of world is this set in?

Oh no, it's not historical at all. It's set in a world that I came up with myself.

It's set in a (Fantasy, I suppose, would be the term for it...?) world that I made. The main area that the story takes place in is called Cullendale, and it was originally in a story that wound having to kabosh. There are also ties to French, British, Latin, and italian ideas and whatnot (They speak in Latin sometimes, there are some places inspired by Italy, that sort of thing)

I'm not sure if I'll able to publish it though, because so much of it revolves around the idea of the brothers accidently falling in love with the princess (And the princess' friend) because they don't know who she is.

It's worth a shot though, I think. There's also another version that's a bit of a parody, called "The Comedy of Gryphon'" and it features places like the main kingdom, Chinwester, and a place called the Forest Monotonous. I don't plan to publish that one, of course, but it's still fun to write lol

Alright, well if you want to publish this, what makes it different? Your story? Are there fantasy creatures? Races?

Well, really what makes it different is the exicution of it all. For one thing it's told from the villains' point of view, which isn't something I've seen before. And it doesn't try to make the villain seem all hero-ish either. You can tell they're bad and that the king is the good guy, yet it also makes you want the bad guys to win.

Also the fact that I'm doing everything I can to make the whole thing believable, and no one is perfect in it either. They all seem human and whatnot.

And then there's the fact that it doesn't all magically work out in the end; there are still problems and such. It doesn't really have a happy ending or anything.

Also the politics are made to be real as well, as they're modled after real-life politics and such. I've been really careful with this one so that the non-cliche-ness will hopefully out-weigh the cliche factor.

There are also a few creatures of my own invention, and those that aren't mine but I've re-worked to fit my own devices. Like phoenixes, they aren't birds in my story, but winged foxes. Also the pegasus, though not from British legend, is in the story. Except the pegasus has also been redone so that now it's sort of catlike and horselike at the same time.

^?^

I like all the ideas. It sounds really awesome, but this part--the part about the princess, her friend, and the priinces--seems too well trod. Many, many stories are like that. I have personally read at least a dozen. But maybe if youu change that up a bit-like have the girl be a tramp who was raised as a princess have been switched at birth with the real princess-it would really make things more complicated in a good way.

I think if you did that, and did do the real-life politics, you'd be set. It would be an interesting idea to add the mix-up, and I think you could pull it off. I couldn't, not without a lot of esiting....

*etes fog ovrt, i cannit see veru we;;...*

Well, that's another place I'm a bit stuck; there have also been many many many stories in which a peasent has been swapped with a princess at birth. So I thought maybe I would change it a touch so that the "Friend" is actually maybe a maid-servent to the princess and not so much a "Friend" as an advisor of sorts or some such like that.

So is there any element, of any type, that you'd like to see in this story? 'cause (As always) I've got the beginning and the end figured out entirely, it's just the middle I'm having problems with. So if there's anything interesting that maybe you haven't seen before in a book, or would just like to see in this one, lemme know and I'll try to work it into the plot. ^?^

Well, non-petty politics is rare enough.... And you were right, except for one litttle thing: the real princess would HATE court life, and the tramp would HATE city life... both are paths well trod.

But then again, most historical fiction is paths well trod before.... even Sci-Fi historical fiction. Even TS was probably based on more than the Isidar Mithrim... (TS is as in Traveller's Star....)
