Sofranir growled as she gazed around. What had possessed her to lead her brother here, where there were hundreds of thousands of roots for him to trip over, despite her guidance? She sighed and shook her head, turning to look at Tel'aeír. His jaw was settled lightly on her flank, his icy pearl white eyes focused, strangely, on her. What's wrong, Anir? he murmured, lifting his head slightly, curious. She mumbled under her breath and dropped back to stand beside him, placing her tail firmly over his flank. Nothing, Tel. Nothing you need to worry about. she said, leading him forward. He snorted and stopped, turning his head to stare right at her. There is too something wrong. Come on Anir, tell me. he asked calmly, nudging her shoulder. Anir ground her teeth and sighed. I've stupidly led you into Du Weldenvarden. she muttered, then urged him forward.

Tel'aeír smirked, letting her lead him forward this time. I won't snap your head off, Anir, relax. Your my sister and I trust you. he said, and nuzzled her neck. She prummed happily, her vivid silver eyes gleaming as she nuzzled him back. Tel hummed softly in response. In the mean time, could you open your mind so I can see properly? he asked politely. She hesitated, but he felt her nod. He felt her mind open, and he let his own touch hers and become part of it. Abruptly he could see, more than just the metals in the earth surrounding him. He sighed and pulled away from the touch of his sister's tail. His ears pricked at a slight grumbling noise. Was that your stomach, Anir? he asked curiously, stopping and looking back at her. She ducked her head. I haven't hunted in a week. she admitted. Tel grunted. When we come across a herd we came hunt. First let's find one. he said, then padded forward with his sister at his shoulder.

Anir paused, pricking her ears. Tel, hold up. I hear something. she murmured to her younger brother. He halted and looked back at her. He lifted his nose and sniffed. He sent a vague direction of a scent to her. She turned to a small gathering of trees, scenting at the wind herself. Her silver eyes narrowed. She stalked forward silently to the trees, digging her claws into the bark and scaling up the trunk in a few moments. She wove through the branches until she found the source of the scent. A young twoleg female, bow strung and tense. She huffed under her breath, then dropped down from the tree in front of the female, landing gracefully on the ground. She straightened up and eyed the twoleg. If your planning on hunting my brother, I would advise you against that course of action. she murmured quietly, though with the slight trace of a threat in her tone.

Tel huffed and padded to the tree, rounding it as soon as his sister dropped to the ground in front of a twoleg female. He grinned at Anir's threat. Oh calm down big sis. You'll scare her. he admonished her, scowling playfully at his pale-blue-almost-white-scaled-sister. She grinned at him. He snorted softly and turned to the twoleg. I apologize for my sister. I'm Tel, this is Anir. Who may you be? he asked curiously, settling down on his stomach on the ground and tilting his head to the side.

Anir rolled her eyes at her brother, also circling around the twoleg to lay beside Tel. His pale lavender scales was a lovely contrast with her own pale-blue-almost-white hide. I'm Anir. I'm sorry if I startled you. she said, and ducked her head sheepishly. She had a bad habit of doing that.

Tel nudged his sister reassuringly, then looked at the twoleg. Relax, little one. We may be dragons but we will not hurt you. I promise. he murmured, saying the last part in the Ancient Language. He purred softly, twisting his head back to groom Anir's neck. What is your name, little one? he asked curiously, looking at her from the corner of his blind eyes.

"Uhh...." She searched for an answer. "I'm traveling alone." She said, not knowing if that answered the question.

Tel hummed, then turned to look directly at Aarti with his icy pearl white eyes, staring at her without seeing. Alright, an honest enough answer. I'm sorry to pry, but why are you alone? he asked, still curious. From what I understand, twolegs like company, not solitude. he said, tilting his head to the side.

OOC:
Bleh. *makes face*

Tel snorted softly, rustling his wings discontentedly as he settled on his stomach. I'll be fine. Anir, go with her and help her hunt. he muttered, turning away from them and curling into a tight ball.

Anir sighed and turned from her brother toward Aarti. Pay my brother no mind, little one. Tel has always been disgruntled with his blindness. she murmured to the twoleg. The pale-blue-almost-white-dragoness purred gently, twisting around to the surrounding forest. Lead the way, Aarti. If we find a herd of deer, I can take down perhaps three or four. she prummed, weaving her tail from side to side as she waited to follow her new friend.

'Tis alright, sadie. Stay out of too much trouble, kay?lol

IC:
Anir grunted at the added weight, her legs almost buckling as it was slumped onto her back. She looked around to Aarti worriedly, her vivid silver eyes anxious. Easy there little one. Breathe. I'll manage. she murmured, stepping forward to the other four deer. She lowered her head to the ground, nudging her snout underneath each body and sliding it over her horns, down her smooth neck, and to the juncture of her neck and shoulders. She huffed when all five were finally in place, turning with a slight stagger under the weight. Okay, let's get back to camp. she gasped, a bit out of breath. She stumbled through the trees back to her brother, anything but stealthy now. Tel jumped to his paws when she entered the camp.

Tel padded toward his sister hastily, dragging the deer corpses from her back with ease belaying his slender appearance. He heard her sigh in relief, rolling her shoulders. What were you thinking, Anir? You know your not strong enough to haul around prey like that. he scolded, nuzzling he shoulder anxiously. He felt her dip her head sheepishly, a tiny small pulling at the corner of her mouth. Yes I do know. she sighed. He grumbled to himself, then looked over to Aarti. Do you need help with a fire? I think I could get a small fireball with enough concentration. he offered, light lavender-silver flames flickering within his nostrils.

Tel chuckled. He motioned to his sister with his tail, and she almost literally pounced forward onto a deer. He laughed at her eagerness, then padded to another carcass and dragged it away a few paces. He left it laying by Anir so he could butcher the last deer. He made short work of it, gutting it, burying the head, and carving it apart like he had the first. Once he finished, he went back to his deer and tucked into his meal.

lol Practice. Try, perhaps, to put a bit more detail into what she's doing or thinking. Like this; Aarti blinked rapidly at Tel, bewildered that a stranger would make such a generous offer. Aarti blinked rapidly at Tel, stunned and bewildered that a complete stranger would make such a greatly generous offer. For all he knew, she was a highly trained assassin, bred to kill silently and stealthily. This thought made her pause before she answered. Should she take the offer? For all she knew, he could serve Galbatorix and simply be stalling for a group of soldiers to arrive and take her captive. Or maybe he was allied with her father and he was distracting her so her father could swoop in like a deadly eagle and kill her. That thought made her flinch. She went still, praying he hadn't noticed.

Tel finished his meal rather quickly, as did his sister, and he buried both skeletons. He perked his head at the barking of a dog. He snorted softly as Aarti called out to it, giving it the name of Eva. He lowered his head to the dogs level, snuffling softly so its fur rippled gently. Eka weohnata néiat haina onr vinr (I will not harm your friend). he murmured to the canine softly. He heard Anir saying much the same. It was in the Ancient Language, meaning his words were of the complete truth. Now the dog may not have understood his actual words, but his meaning would have been unmistakable.

Anir's eyes narrowed but she obeyed, merely keeping the man pinned beneath her paw. At Aarti's question, she tilted her head in thought. Perhaps. Let me try something. I might be able to make him answer your last question. she murmured to her friend privately. She leaned her head down closer to the man, her trembling upper lip almost touching his jaw. This 'thing' is a dragon. My name is Sofranir. Remember it. she snarled, pressing him into the floor. Now, I will ask you this once and only once. Why were you trying to kill my friend?

OOC:
If he lies, Anir can see the truth if she Reads him, which is when she sees her eyes glow. Do you have an answer for if he does or doesn't lie?

OOC:
Perhaps he didn't want to kill her, only capture her and break her spirit so he could use her powers for his own ends? Or something like that.

IC:
It wasn't a lie. She hissed in frustration, bridling at the limitations her powers had. Anir bared her teeth and snarled in agreement. I can and will kill you if you don't answer me one way or the other. she spit angrily, her vivid silver eyes gleaming. Or maybe I could take you to my aunt. She's very adept in torture.... she murmured thoughtfully, trailing off. Of course she wouldn't actually do that to him. She abhorred violence, even if it was deserved.

Anir crooned anxiously and nuzzled her friends leg worriedly. You will always have a home in your heart. Your family, for now, is Eva. You also have me and Tel as friends. she murmured quietly. Being gifted as you, myself, and Tel are can indeed be a burden. But at other times, when we or our loved ones are in danger, our powers are a blessing. she said. Yes, sometimes she hated her power of knowing when someone lied to her or about her. It forced her other three siblings, and even the rest of her family, to have no secrets from her. But at other times, it had saved them all from getting into any deeper trouble.

Would you mind if I brought in a third character, either Zeke (their father), or Jia (their aunt)? Anir and Tel have never been to the Varden yet, so they can't exactly lead Aarti there. (we should probably end this in the next few pages and make another thread in Empire.)

Anir was just opening her mind to answer when a figure glided down to the clearing. The gold-amethyst-dragoness back-pedaled once, alighting on silent wings without stirring a single blade of grass. Jia's voice was warm and soothing when she spoke up. I can carry her in my paws, if you like. She would have no fear of being hurt or dropped with me. she murmured. Anir padded to her and nuzzled her shoulder. Tel followed and did the same. Jia purred warmly, her teal eyes tender with affection. It is good to see you again, you two. I hope you've been staying out of trouble, Sofranir. murmured her aunt, eying the pale-blue-almost-white-dragoness. She ducked her head and grinned. No more than the usual, Aunt Jia. she said, a mischievous gleam in her silver eyes.

Jia grinned affectionately, then lifted her gaze and turned her head to the woman. I suppose your the reason my Niece called me here. I'm Johdzsia, but please just call me Jia. I got the impression that you needed my help. How may I be of service to you? she asked, tilting her head slightly in question as she rustled her pale gold wings. The light coming down from the sun reflected off her hide, making it glitter and highlighting the thin amethyst band in between each scale.

Jia smiled kindly, dipping her head. Of course. I can lead you to the Varden, and I will also stay to help you search for your mother. she said warmly. She chuckled at her query after a saddle. Yes. It's mine, but it can be adjusted. My Rider made it to grow with me, as I'm still rather young. she said, and arched her neck back. Across her neck, just over her chest, was a slip knot that secured the saddle pad in place. She tugged at it with her teeth, loosening it. She slipped the belly band out from her legs and lowered her head to the ground to shake it lightly and deposit the saddle. She gestured to her niece, who stepped forward and placed her forefeet through the belly band. Jia lifted the pad in her teeth and slipped it over Anir's head, settling it carefully at the juncture of her neck and shoulders. She tightened the belly band and neck-chest knots with her teeth so the saddle fit snugly, then stepped back to look it over. Looks good. she appraised, then turned to Eva. She purred reassuringly to the canine. May I carry you, my furry friend? she asked with a kind smile, balancing back onto her hindlegs and proffering her forepaws in a cupped fashion to let the dog climb in.

Anir squirmed with the saddle, unused to the feel of leather rubbing against her scales. She fidgeted for a moment, then lifted a foreleg and bent down so her shoulder was dipped toward Aarti, allowing her to simply step over Sofranir's neck, strap in her legs, and settle into the saddle. I'm sorry there's no spike in front of you to hold on to, but the saddle has a hardened loop horn for you to grab if you feel unstable. she said apologetically.

Jia chuckled, gingerly cradling Eva close to her chest so the canine would feel secure. She waited for Tel and Anir to take off into the air, then briskly following after them, overtaking then with four fluid strokes of her slightly over-sized wings so she could lead the way to the Varden.

Anir grinned, beating her wings smoothly and at a gradual pace so her aunt could fly ahead and her brother could stay close to her side. No, I don't have a Rider. I don't think I need one either, to be honest. My aunt says that she was hatched wild when she found Kale, her bonded partner, but I don't think I am...Searching for one. Its hard to explain. I feel whole as I am. That's the best way for me to describe it. she said sheepishly. Jia grinned back at her. Not all dragons were meant to have a Rider, dear heart. she reassured. Anir smiled at her aunt in gratitude.

Anir peeked back at her friend, making sure she was still okay and secure on her back.

Jia glanced down at Eva, purring reassuringly in her chest. I will not drop you, little one she assured the canine, then looked up again.

Jia purred. Your- she began, then Anir broke in.
