 New Adventures (title is a work in progress)OOC: So, I wanted to start a new story with one of my characters that I haven't really been able to use yet and so yeah. I don't have a storyline I plan for it to be just do whatever when the time is at hand. Anyone can join and if you have an idea for a further plot I will be more than happy to hear it.
Lanna looked up at the night sky and marveled at the beuty of the small but bright stars that illuminated the deep mass of darkness around them. She could see far into the distance due to the full moon but there was nothing to see. The desert had remained empty for a very long time and all she ever saw were occasional animals or abandoned buildings. She continued to walk in what she hoped was the direction she was wanting to go, east. Laana had been travelling for days and was running low on supplies but wherever she ended up would be better than where she came. Flashback: Laana was walking in the small town of Bullridge when all of a sudden a group of soldiers aproached her. She tried to be discreet and merge with an oncoming crowd but to her dismay they pulled her aside and began questioning her. They asked questions like, 'Who are you?' and 'Where do you come from?' and Laana gave very short and indirect answers. The guards stopped talking for a few minutes and used that time to try to sneak away but one of the soldiers grabbed her arm and threw her on the ground. "You are under arrest." He claimed and began to bind her wrists. Laana struggled but being overpowered, she was unable to escape. The guards dragged her into a dirty, wet cell and threw her in, leaving her. She stayed in there for what seemed like weeks only being bothered to be given scarce amounts of food and to be further interrogated. Throughout that time she found loose bricks on one side of the cell and began to carefully move them to make a hole only big enough for her to squeeze through. When it was her size she managed to escape. She hid herself in dark alleys and under buildings while soldiers scowered the town for her and returned to the prison to get her weapons and possessions. With no guards in sight, she snuck into the weapon room and retrieved her things with ease. She stealthily escaped and ran east until she was far away from the town and at the edge of the Hadarac Desert. End Flashback. Laana looked into the distance as the sun began to rise and saw a shadow. IC: Valkaria flew across the desert, surrounded by sand, the world silent except fo the whump of her wings as she flew. She had been sleeping when the sound of hunting hyenas had woken her up. Right now, those obnoxious creatures were probably hiding in some cave, hoping that she'd left. The ones she hadn't eaten, that is. Valkaria flew a loop in the sky, briefly closing her eyes. After she'd gone outside and chased down a couple hyenas, she'd been to energized to go back to sleep, so she'd stayed outside, watching the stars come out. The desert was quiet and peaceful... No one awake in the world but hereself. Lanna kept walking closer to the figure but it seemed as though every time she looked away, the figure got farther and farther away. She tried calling out to it but soon it was out of her sights. Myn loved the desert. She enjoyed every part about it; the scorching beams cast from the sun, the complete isolation, the unchanging, sand blasted landscape. This was the life for her, she decided, and though she had spent all her life in the island's forest, she felt an instant kinship with the barren wastes. Maybe I’ll live out here for a while... I could use a place like this to figure out how lost I am, she thought while rolling her eyes at the offending dune. Fortunately, no one should be able to find me, and I won't have to deal with their stupid questions... She shook her head and continued to struggle up the sliding sand. With a few more steps in her sand-filled boots she reached the top of the current dune, which provided her with a fair view of the surrounding landscape. She turned in a slow circle while surveying the land. Dunes stretching to the south, east, and west as far as her eye could see, flickering dark shapes that were probably the Beor Mountains in the extreme distance. To the north, the dunes generally tapered out into a barren, rocky level of nothingness that seemed to go on to the edge of the world. That's where I want to go, she decided as she peered at the unsteady map, buffeted by the constant wind eddies. Du Fells Nángoröth. She was about to leave when she thought she noticed movement to the east. She immediately dropped down to the other side of the dune, creating a small avalanche of sand to slide and tumble down the slope of the dune. She slowly raised her head over the peak of the dune and studied the moving shape, still distant enough to appear as a vague blob. But, as she saw the tiny figure crest another dune, she determined that it was a figure. And that this person was moving in her direction. “Figures,” Myn grumbled. “Just when I start liking the place, some desert waif shows up.” She shrugged her pack off her shoulders and rummaged for the dark cloak sequestered within. "I need to find some different colors other than black when desert traveling… I stand out like, well, me” she mumbled to herself with a harsh laugh. She pulled the cloak over her shoulders and adjusted the overlarge hood to completely conceal her head. She peeked up over the dune again, and saw that the figure had sat down on the sand. As she began to turn towards returning to the ground, she heard a distant sound, like the banging on a faraway drum. She popped up again to check her trailer, but it was still sitting down where Myn had last seen her. She turned her gaze to the sky, and what she saw stopped her heart. I have to hide! Myn thought. The object and the trailer are coming from different directions... I'll burrow myself on the side slope. I'll worry about the other person later, first I have to find out what that flying creature is... it can't be a dragon! Re: New Adventures (title is a work in progress) As Valkaria approached the figure down below, it stopped walking and lay down on the sand. For a few moments she watched it, then she flew down, landing near the person-The girl, she saw now that she was closer. After a moment, she realized that it would have been a good idea to shift into her elfan form, so as not to scare the girl, but it was too late now. "Hey," she said to the girl, "Who are you? What are you doing in the desert?"

Re: New Adventures (title is a work in progress) Laana sprang up in surprise as she heard a voice. She looked ahead of her and saw a dragon had landed next to her. She instinctively reached for her sword but realized that if this dragon meant her any harm, it would have been able to do so already.
"M-my..." Laana stammered and she took a short moment to close her eyes and compose herself. "My name is Laana. I travel the desert to escape the Empire and do not know how long I have been here. I have been searching for my parents and hopefully if there are people who live on the other side of the desert, they might be able to help me." Re: New Adventures (title is a work in progress) Myn watched the dragon land next to the small girl from her vantage point high on the hill of sand. She raised her head and strained her ears, but could not hear what was being said. Myn had a decision to make; sneak off, and leave this strange dragon to occupy this girl whilst she slipped away, or confront the two to see what they were doing in the middle of the desert.
It was not even a choice. Thorvald always said, never leave possible enemies at your back. You never know when you’ll run into them again. Besides…. there is the dragon, Myn thought as she came to her decision. She slowly raised herself up out of the sand onto all fours and stood up, careful to dislodge as little sand as possible. She readjusted her cloak to fully cover her head and body, and dug around in her pack for her sand scarf. After tying in snugly across her lower face, she replaced her hood, and after brushing off the accumulated sand she slid down the blind side of the dune. With a deep breath through the scarf and a last adjustment to her hood, Myn circled around the side of the dune and stepped into view of the amicably conversing strangers. Beneath her cloak, she rested her left hand on the handle of her sword as she walked, wary of the girl that had been following her. OOC: I'm going to try and draw a couple pictures of her, cloaked and regular, because I know I may be confusing with my descriptions. Re: New Adventures (title is a work in progress) When Valkaria spoke, she saw the girl's eyes widen in alarm. Okay, so shifting to elfan form really would have been a good idea. Too late for that now, that'd probably just scare her more. "My name is Valkaria," She said, "And i live in the desert, in a cave not too far away. I doubt i could help you find your parents, as i hardly ever see anyone here in there desert, but if you tell me more about where you're going, i could help you get there." Suddenly, Valkaria noticed a cloaked figure standing by a dune a little ways off, moving toward them. She swiveled her head around to look at the person, but could not distinguish any figures, as he or she was entirely covered by the cloak.

She turned and saw a cloaked figure walking towards them and she grabbed the hilt of her sword, ready for whatever the newcomer might bring.

Re: New Adventures (title is a work in progress) An eddy of wind swirled around Myn and her tattered cloak as she walked towards the purple dragon and the girl. As she reached the location where they were standing, now with both their attention focused on her, she stopped and appraised the wildly different creatures as they viewed her murky presence.
Myn slowly turned her gaze towards the dragon in the dead silence. “Greetings. I am Myn.” She said with a small bow. “I apologize for the subterfuge, Dragon, I thought you were Galbatorix’s for a moment, because I was told that Shruikan was the only dragon that remained.” Myn said with a sigh, as she inclined her head towards the massive winged quadruped. “However…” she continued, “If you are not his, how did you survive all this time?” She twisted her head towards the dark haired human girl, now tensed as she watched Myn, and swung an arm from underneath her wrappings to indicate the mysterious young woman with a ruby nail. “Human, why are you following me? Are you someone’s agent?” she snapped, with a snarl hidden under her scarf. As her right arm fell to her side, her hidden left gripped the sword handle more tightly. Then it hit her, the force of the shock almost causing her to stagger, tensing her muscles immediately. Wait... The dragon is probably being truthful... And, at the moment, I do not have a tactical advantage, She thought, while suppressing a snort. “My father always said yours was the most honorable of races in Alagaesia. I believe you, and I apologise again for suggesting you were in his service.” She said towards the captivatingly violet dragon, with a deeper bow. “I too wish to see a land where dragons once more roam freely… So, if I may ask, what is your name, Lady Dragon? How did you end up here, in the middle of this desert?” she stated, with an almost concealed interest in her husky voice. Hmm… the human may be what she says. Her body language is defensive primarily towards me, but she is not leaving herself open to the dragon either. And given her apparent youth, and the way she’s still eying the dragon, I don't think they don’t know each other… “Human, most of your race are brutish deceitful savages.” She continued after a pause, considering whether to give the benefit of the doubt. “But perhaps you do not share that quality. Re: New Adventures (title is a work in progress) As Valkaria processed Myn's words, the first thing that came to mind was that the formality was giving her a headache. I hate being formal, She thought. Why can't anyone ever just drive straight to the point? Oh well. If she wants formality, i may as well oblige. No point in offending. "As i said before, it's a mistake anyone could make. My name is Valkaria. I live here." At Myn's next words, Valkaria's eyes narrowed ever so slightly. "I can't entirely agree with the part about humans being savages. I have known and liked quite a few humans, but perhaps your experience isn't as positive." Then Valkaria was hit by the implications of Myn's statement-“Human, most of your race are brutish deceitful savages.”- "Wait, does that mean you aren't human?"

I had no intentions of being a captive so I ran to the desert where I knew they would not follow me. Also, Valkaria makes a good point. You are not human and unlike any elf."

"Yes," she said. "I am not human. I am an elf, though not one you would probably recognise. I come from deep within the forest Du Weldenvarden, near the lake Rona." Myn sighed deeply, as she stood up, uncovering her scarlet coloured and heavily scarred right arm. "You know of the elvish quirk to cast magic on themselves? The reason I conceal myself is because of my varied modifications, many which have failed rather disastrously." Myn turned to stare at the girl heavily. "I hate humans because I have been forced to kill every one who has seen me uncovered. Terrified little righteous little pigs, all of them." She bit out, with a sneer crossing her face. Re: New Adventures (title is a work in progress) When Myn pulled her cloak away from herself a little, revealing a scarlet right arm, Valkaria inhaled sharply. Now she understood her wariness, her strange enmity towards humans. "I guess i see now why you don't like humans. If the rest of your skin is the same color as your arms, you must seem to be some kind of demon to them." Valkaria said, no humor in her tone or eyes for once. Her eyes flicked back to Myn's arm, to the heavy scars. What had her life been like, to give her scars like that? Attacked whenever she was seen, feared by all? Yes, her dislike for humans made perfect sense.

Re: New Adventures (title is a work in progress) Laana released her sword and crossed her arms over her chest. She watched as Valkaria and Myn talked. Myn uncovered a part of her arm and revealed scarlet covered skin. She looked in surprise but quickly turned her head to not be rude. She had seen the scars and felt a slight sadness at what this person had been through.

Pausing for a moment, Myn inclined her head at Lanna, measuring her up with her eyes. Perhaps... She snorted shortly and spread her arms. "Why am I here? It's on the way from here to there." She said, while shrugging her narrow shoulders. Making a slight encompassing gesture with her right hand, she continued. "Besides, I like the weather out here. It's a nice change from... well, everywhere." Myn turned to look at the dragon, who had been quietly observing the proceeding with her liquid eyes. I've had enough of this. "Time to go." Myn stated. When Myn turned slightly to look at her, Valkaria met her gaze unwaveringly, considering her last statement. She's hiding something, that much i'm sure of. But i don't think she means any harm...  The other avenue I saw was the history of gomen's character, or one of your characters, or somesuch. They continued on in silence for some time until a great dark mass appeared in the background. She began to feel drowsy and and the sun was very bright but she continued on not showing any weakness.

Sand shifting beneath her feet, Myn continued step by step further into the desert. The struggling through the constant sucking of the sand was beginning to tire her. been through worse. tired of looking at dragon's backside, where are we going She looked up and saw that the ground had been changing around her while she was lost in her thoughts. The morass of blowing sand and dunes had given way to a harder packed, dusty surface. Weather-beaten granite rocks stuck up at odd angles from the ground. And ahead, a single massive promontory rose from the land, an abherration amongst the endless sands. @Makaveli: Massive promotory abherration?! Um.... I think i have a vague idea of what you mean by that, but i could be wrong..... They had nearly arrived at Valkaria's caves when she saw a blue dragon flying toward them, carrying a person in its claws. It crash landed a ways away, and she saw that the dragon's left wing was bleeding. As Ser'lla's mind went blank with unconsciousness, Corido pulled himself out of her grip, standing unsteadily. He felt dizzy from all the blood lost through the wound on his arm. They had been traveling through the Hadarac, and Ser'lla had been out hunting when, of course, Zalda had attacked him. Zalda was coming perilously close to killing him when Ser'lla had grabbed him and flown off, though Zalda had managed to put a nasty gash in her wing. Trying to stay conscious, Corido blinked dizzily at the figures in the distance.
