Why is Brom only good at kicking eragons ass, against urgals and raz'zac he seems hopeless. I'm having doubts whether he killed Morzan or not.

p.s did anyone else suspect Brom was a rider coz it seemed obvious to me.

i never believed is story of being able to learn how to brain talk. Brom might have killed him with an accident.

lol, true. He doesnt seem good at much. Ajihad said he was their bestt spellcaster aside from elves and the twins but what evidence is there of that?? all he reely did is light a fire on the plains!

It could be that he knew a lot of the words and that was the thing that was making him powerful.

that and he was a rider, years and years ago.

Well you remember Brom has lived for a long time and his Dragon was killed a long long time ago before Eragon’s new adventure of a Rider and Brom said that each time he uses magic it becomes harder and harder for him to draw upon it making him weaker every time he uses it, so it is understandable that he could have beaten Morzan when he was younger and be so weak and frail to fall like he did as shown later with Eragon. His time was already over. It would be really neat to have a book of Broms story written as the book before Eragon. That would fill in a lot of the confusion over Broms power. From what is talked of Brom in the book Eldest is quite intriguing. All that Brom had done before Eragons time was quite something to find out.

Maybe losing his dragon made him weaker

it did...it probably cut his power in half and all the grief too...

I think that a book with Brom's story would be so awesome! Maybe we should tell cs to write one. While he's at it he should write a book about the history of the elves.

Not entirely. Saphira and Arya came at just the right moment, but before that he was fighting pretty hard with the shade and even got into the shades mind and saw his past and everything.

brom was eating meat.. can't he feel them did he lost his his ability to detect the environment, u know like beeing inside the rabbit? and too, why he didn't use his ability to kill instead of went ordinary hunting with eragon??

To your 1st question, we still haven't found out how to kill them. If it says so in the book, I've missed it. Got to go and read AGAIN!

I was just listening to Eldest and Oromis tells Eragon all about the Ra'zac. And he mnentioned that they were able to sneek upon them because when they know they are being hunted they donot hunt so openly, or something of the sort. So I guess that's why they were able to overpower Brom.

Yes, Brom's magic was weaker because he lost his dragon.

i was trying to point out that Brom and Oromis wouldn't be that different if Brom had been tortued or Oromis wasn't. If Oromis wasn't tortued if would be strong in battle like Brom. Why does Oromis need a sword he don't use it. He could give it to Eragon now that Zar'roc is gone

Because it seems that the sword is something like the trademark of each Rider. I assume that is why they have the personal crest of the rider.
Even though Eragon was using Zar'roc, it was still Morzan's sword. I guess it represents part of the uniquesness of being a Rider and being linked to their dragon. This would make it hard to relinquish the weapon voluntarily.
My opinion; I think Eragon should have his own sword with his own history. He used Zar'roc for a time and it served him well, but now the rightful owner has it.
If the weapon under the Menoa tree is a sword, I really hope it is blue to match Saphira's color.

At the end of Eldest, that is what the reader is led to believe. However, many clues have been placed within the two books to have us speculating if he really is Morzan's son. I wholeheartedly hope he isn't. But then I will need to wait and see if my dream comes true.

You've gotta remember:for one he's old and yes i was thinking that maybe Brom was a dragon rider while i read further and further into the book.

Brom was definitely good for a lot, he just appeared weak 1: for his cover. 2: because he was still in anguish for Saphira. 3: He didn't have Saphira anymore to help him
