Most people, when they have a dream (or at least, those people that are members of good ol’ Saphira Forums) go to that topic over in chat labeled “Dreams” but when I had this last dream that I can remember, I was inspired, for in my hands (hell, even just in my head) I think I could make one hell of a tale out of it, so I’m going to put my dream here, now gather around my friends, for this is a tale, I feel I must tell.

He was standing ankle deep in water and surrounded by a good two dozen trained sharpshooters. Go figure. They had caught him unaware in a laundry mat while waiting for the spin cycle to finish, but they didn’t care. No, they just wanted an excuse to shoot him where he stands, no questions asked, and of course, he gave it to them.
Dropping his hand into his back pocket the man the sharpshooters had surrounded grasped his wallet, it’s all they needed. Gunfire rang out from the laundry mat, clip upon clip emptied its self, all aimed at the man’s heart, but none would make it to their destination. Suddenly, from thin air, almost as if by magic, rings of white glowing white runes appeared, in each ring formed what appeared to the sharpshooters as mirrors, but they were more than that, they were portals aiming the bullets back at their shooters. One after another fell before their own fire, one though his eye, another in the chest, and yet another was hit square in the jugular.
When the firing had ceased, and the portals dissipated. The man whom they had surrounded quickly unloaded his laundry and hurried to the door to leave, as he opened the door, he heard the click of a gun and in reflex spun around and a portal appeared in front of where the bullet should have passed, but the bullet launched by that final click of a gun was only cut in half by the portal, one half, returned to the gun from which it was shot, and the other half burying its self deep within the man’s brain.


It’s like having an out of body experience, this floating sensation I feel, only because, I’m actually out of my body. Well, my soul is at least, on its journey to the afterlife. My soul was headed there in a hurry too, but that might be because the trial I had to pass was different from that which any normal person even thought of. But that’s because I’m not exactly normal, I mean, come on, I can make portals appear out of thin air and use them to take me where ever I want, I can even cheat and send something else though, for example a bullet, and have it come out some where else, for example, back at the person that shot it. As for what this trial I must pass is, I haven’t a clue, I never got to talk to someone like me that had died before, but then again, no one’s ever talked to someone that’s escaped Heaven.
I wasn’t sure how long it had been, for when you’re dead time has no meaning, but eventually my soul had stopped moving, leaving me in something you could only expect to see in the afterlife, before me stood a vast room that made me think of a court room, and as behind me was an open blue sky and big white puffy clouds, but it was where the vast room and the blue sky meet that was, well, odd. The ceiling and walls begin to fade away to white as they near the meeting point and eventually the ceiling and walls (and to my dismay the floor) tapered off to more white puffy cloud, but before I could go off and examine the rest of what was behind me, a strangely alluring, sweet, and yet commanding feminine voice broke in, “Hello Ravlin, come, sit, and tell me your story, as is the trial of the Traveler.”

it's supposed to be confusing, and yes, I did dream more, actually, this part I didn't dream, but it made a good beginning and I liked it (yes, he died)

I think this is going to come out in short little bits, but I'm not totally sure yet, I'll just wait and see how the next few turn out



Chapter One

My name is Ravlin Horsenburge, grew up in a small town outside of Detroit, all that other fun ****, but that wasn’t the story she wanted to hear. No, she wanted to know my story of the Portals. Granted she probably knew everything, sitting behind that table naked with a tome open in front of her, her angelic wings, four of them, giving her a backdrop of downy white feathers which her face took full advantage of, stunningly deep green eyes above high cheek bones and very full lips. You’d swear this angel was created for the sole purpose of creating lust in those that saw her, but not I, even in death I remain faithful to my love.

Pulling out the other chair I sat and began my tale;


I was seventeen the first time it happened. I was just getting off of work at the local food market when I turned the corner and saw two men in an ally stabbing an elderly woman for her purse; she never got the chance to cry out. The one man had sliced though her jugular in a single swipe; he was dressed in a baggy tee shirt that looked as if it were Bedazzled, low riding pants and a white baseball cap. The other wore a Lions jersey and bright white basketball shorts. I knew they were trouble and knew I couldn’t let them see me but I wasn’t anywhere near fast enough to escape their attention, and they knew I had seen what they had done, killed an elderly person in cold blood for their money. I sprinted down the street knowing that if I got far enough away they may give up or I could give them the slip. Down Hickory I ran, threw a left on Military, right on Forest, crossing Hickory yet again, over the tracks, a left on Elma, a right on Rhoade, over a fence, under cloths lines, yet no mater how fast I ran they kept up, slowly closing in, and that’s when my luck ran out. I had taken a wrong turn on Johnson and came to a dead end between a laundry mat and a vet, I knew I was done for, two on one and one of the two was armed with a knife, perhaps both.
The men slowed as they turned the corner, knowing they had me cornered, the man that was previously unarmed now rolled a throwing knife over his knuckles, making a sickening washboard type sound as the rolled over. His hand was a blur, grabbing the knife with the hand that it was rolling on and flicking it at my head, as I flinched, knowing it was going to hit me, the ground flashed white in a ring around me the whole scene had disappeared, I now lay on my stomach in my bed, at home, no sign of anything that was going to happen only moments before. I was scared, but glad that whatever it was that happened, happened. Shortly after I passed out, utterly exhausted.

The guy is dead and telling his story to the Angel, just wait and all will be explained, and I know you'll wait because I know I've sunk my hooks into all of you that have replied

The next morning I woke up lightheaded, yesterday’s events swimming though my mind too quickly for me to understand what had happened. But I didn’t have time to worry about that. My family, as in my mom, sister and I, was supposed to go to the Bears and Lions football game today and we had to get the car packed so we could go and tailgate at the game. I got dressed and went downstairs to help get ready when I noticed a sudden nagging feeling about what had happened the day before. Images of familiar, glowing white runes flashed though my head, so familiar I would have swore I had seen them everyday for my entire life, but I couldn’t remember where. Wave after wave of images bombarded my mind making me nauseated and forcing me to sit down on the sofa in the living room. After what felt like a very long fifteen minutes the images stopped coming and the nauseated feeling began to leave, as I got up I noticed something, hanging there on the living room wall just across from the sofa, where I always sit when watching TV, was a Celtic tapestry mom had bought from an arts and crafts show maybe ten years ago. On the tapestry was the Celtic’s symbol for life, and around it were the runes, almost the exact same ones that had been bombarding my mind for the past fifteen minutes, Except for a three groups of runes that were evenly spaced along the circle. Something in the back of my mind told me these three groups were important to making the circle work, but wouldn’t, or maybe that something couldn’t, tell me how or why.
Getting up, I walked across the living room and stood before the hanging tapestry. Tracing my fingers over the runes around the tapestry I watched as they slowly began to glow, as if my touch had reawakened them for the first time in many years. It was now that I realized that I had never in my life so much as breathed on this wall hanging, let alone touch it.
When I had made it all the way around the runes pulsed once in a stoic green light before the entire circle was filled with white light.
“Gal darn it, another fool stumbling though mah door?”
I spun around to try and find the source of the voice but instead of finding the voice I was sucked into the Portal


Well, I’m not quite happy with the length but this seems like a story best told bit by bit, mainly because I’m not totally sure what I’m going to do with it. I know how it ends, I know how it begins, but I’m actually very lost as for what should happen in between point “A” and point “B”… but hey, it’s me, it’ll end eventually (and I’m pleased that this one is getting a little more attention than my first story that had those undead people in it lol.)
