I honestly do not think Joed would be the next Rider. For starters, he belongs to the "old generation", and as part of it he made his huge contribution to the race of Dragons by rescuing Saphira's egg.
Second, they are many, and I place emphasis on the word many, because of the amount of characters which were in both Eragon and Eldest. So I would go by a process of elimination. This would leave me with the possibility of only two strong characters; Ayra and Roran. Third, Joed is a scholar and a merchant. I can see him as a valuable resource in the areas of being a rich source of knowledge and a very efficient leader in the shipping business of the new Alagaesia. I can also see him as a link between the human, dwarven and elven races as he is so knowledgeable of their roots, culture and language. But as a Rider, no, I definitely do not picture him as such; but hey, since we are still missing an installment, anything can happen in Paolini’s wonderful world. The series is called INHERITENCE! Paolini said it's called this because it's about the characters dealing with the duties they inherited from the last generation. Eragon inherited dragon riding from Brom. Murtagh inherited dragon riding from what's his face. The new rider will be someone who's mom\dad was a rider. That's why I think it's Nasuada, her entire past is a mystery.

As far as I know Asuada's father wasn't dragon rider and her mother must live 20 years ago that means she also wasn't dragon rider ( in the end of dragon riders just few of them survived and only one of them was good Brom). If paoliny wants to make something unexpected than there're few possibilities:a) Vanir next rider: Bad guy becaming good rider hmm if he suppose to be rider why he wasn't choosen by Saphira?

now that i think of it, Jeod might already have been a rider. That would explain how he knew Brom, why he fought on the varden's side (because the forsworn killed his dragon), and how he has a good understanding of the ancient language.

It's not at Helgrind.

The only defense against Nasuada being rider is that she wouldn't have time. That wont matter to the dragon. Eragon didn't even want to be dragon rider at first. He only wanted to kill the Ra' Zac.

Everyone, what's conveinent isn't the same as what'll happen. Nasuada hates magic, but she'll deal with it if a dragon hatches for her. Eragon hated flying at first. The dragon will pick it's match, not who it'll be easier for.

I don't think Brom used her. My theory is that in or to get even, she offered the information in order to damage the Empire, Galbatorix and Morzan's efforts. As I view it, if Morzan was out following the Varden people she would be able to meet up with Brom. That's what I believed, as so see just creative juices at work!

i agree that its not jeod , but how would he die easily?
i think that it is arya for a number of reasons 1.she's the most powerful non-rider that is in the books, therefore she wouldn't have to be trained that much. now someone said that a dragon picks who is right for them not who it would be convinient for but remember CP is the one making theese dragons hatch really , and he needs it to be somebody convenient so galbatorix can be killed. 2. arya has green magic , green magic = green dragon, eragon has blue magic and he got saphira and murtagh's magic is red - as is thorn. 3. that would make a few loose ends tie up, as many think saphira is destined for greenie then that would change arya's feelings towards eragon if their dragons hooked up. therefore killing 2 birds with one stone so to speek as 2 couples would be togethor. Some people say that arya couldn't be a rider as she doesnt hav a relative that we know of that was one . However, there have got to have been plenty of riders who didnt hv a relative , like eragon the first rider and so on , if all the riders were related how would riders get married to each other as i think many did. Arya is definetly the vardens best chance , and surely CP is bound to give them that chance if you think about it, so , who thinks it will be arya? |

hey hold on a sec. Eragon had never used magic before so how do we know that he had blue magic. and if you had red magic and got linked to a blue dragon your magic color would change to blue. and can't you change your magic color at will?

i don't know if you can change your colour of magic by will but i think that its a cool conicidence at the least, you know that eragon and murtagh have magic the same colour of their dragons and then arya has green magic which may signify that she is suppost to have a green dragon seen as murtagh + eragon have the same colour magic as their dragons , we will never know if that was their colour of magic before they became riders becasue they couldn't use magic then . as arya can as she is an elf.

we didnt see either of them do magic before they became riders, i have said that in my last post, i was saying that when we have sen them doing magic as riders there magic has been red for murtagh and blue for eragon.

it was something CP said. he said that the next rider would be a tad bit surprising and Nasuada would have a big change in her character. Nasuada would certainly be a surprise. But i am leaning towards an unknown charcater as well.
