well i didn't have it with me either but i still know it. i have read eragon and eldest more times than i can count

hmm, i can understand much of it with out even checking back, now that i have read them about 2-3 times each, and listended to Eldest on cd, cuase they don't really tell you what sum of the words mean on the tape, the only times are the times then CP had written it to be like that.

Yep, I do. The first read is to find out what happens. Then from the second on I just tear it apart looking for clues, for things that may be important further on and such. I took a class on Children's Literature where we had to do this with about 10 different books and the habit stayed with me.

I learned to do that back when I was in high school, but I started applying it to the books I read which are part of a series and have not been completed. This way the important passages just jump out and they are easier to spot.

I can understand you. For the Harry Potter series I had the paperbacks, so I highlighted those and have the hardcovers for my little "library." With the Inheritance series it has taken so long for the paperback editions to come out I just couldn't wait. I'm planning to get another set of hardcovers but I want to wait until the Deluxe Edition of Eldest comes out this fall.

No, it means I like them so much I mark things that are important. Things that I like; passages which have a special message end meaning to me as as person. Clues that may be important further on and so forth.
I( ususally have two sets of books. Paperback and hardcover. I mark the paperbacks and keep the hard cover ones for my library.

i have all but two of harry potter in paper back (2 hard, couldn't wait once i started the books). i can read the paperbacks, and 2 hc now. then once they are all out i will buy the hard cover box set. i will read them, but they will not be read as much as the paperback.
i have the paper back of eragon because it took me so long to get it. (i didn't know it would be sooooo good) hardback of eldest. but i will probably end up with 2 sets. .

as to the grey folk, i would like to think they didn't all die. maybe they found some other strong race to mix with, but they all may not have been soo weakend. i like the theory of them being the reason galby lost half his troops in the spine.
they may not even be able to go face to face. but if they caught them unawear. the troops could have become too spooked to fight. they may not have even seen them and just thought it was the rocks themselves. that would explain everyones fear of the spine.
if ppl knew they could fight or kill something their affraid of, they'll try just to prove they can.

I mean, i highlight sum verses in my bible (i'm Chritstain) that i really like, but i usally refrain from it.

i've only highlighted 2 things, both parts of chapters, not whole ones.

i just tab all of the pages that have good info on them with those post it tabes so if i ever want to i can just take the tabs out and it doesnt do anything to the book

I know I'm writing this a little late, but the Grey Folk's blood runs in possibly many races' veins. In Eldest, CP said that they mated with other races before withering and disappearing.
